This concluding week has been a rather busy one. It has also been a rather expensive one.
The biggest expense was the MRI, which may become even more expensive. There's something about the medical industry that is different than any other. You can pay for your service, but that doesn't mean that you have paid for your service. You can still be billed long afterward. No other business does this, and you have to wonder how they get away with it.
Hopefully, the MRI results will be good, and the costs won't get ridiculous.
As for the rest of the week's activities, the computer has been acting up. I bought a couple of things that are working great, but they turned out to be unnecessary purchases. Hence the complaint about an expensive week.
Another thing I did was to order a sim card kit in order to convert one of my old phones to a different carrier. That was an experiment. The experiment looks to be a failure. The phone won't work, and the customer service doesn't know how to help. But I am suspicious. It looks like a scam. The sim card was advertised to work, but it doesn't. But it appears I made a mistake. Perhaps I should have checked with the current carrier in order to see if the phone should have been unlocked. That's another scam. You have to be aware of scams these days. Scams are all around.
The idea with the phone was to save money, but here I am spending even more. It has already been an expensive week, so this does not make me happy.
Would less have been more this week? Seems like being busy has gotten expensive even when I am trying to save money. It is almost as if you can't win. A Star Trek movie comes to mind---Kobayashi Maru on The Wrath of Khan. It was a no-win situation. Unlike Captain Kirk, I am not going to be able to change the rules. Like Captain Kirk, I hate to lose.

How do you know what to believe about this guy?
Comment:
The guy will say anything to be elected. When he was running for Senate from Texas, he took a more conservative line. Now he talks like commie pinko. No way he gets elected then as Senator from Texas with the way he is talking now. No way he wins the nomination now with the way he talked back then. He is totally without scruples.

The Debate and other things...
Comment:
Bongino is just killing it, man.
But the best part of this show so far, as I haven't finished listening to all of it, was how Brennan and the press burned the spy that was exfiltrated. You remember that story, right? The spy was so important that they had to exfiltrate him from Russia. The blamed it on Trump, but it was Brennan and the media who burned this "spy". The hell of it was that this spy wasn't all that good, and the info with respect to the Steele Dossier was crap. If he was so important a "spy", then why did he miss so many important things like Ukraine and Crimea?
So basically Brennan and the media are liars. They all knew that the spy was worthless and Brennan burned him, not Trump. It all happened before Trump was even inaugurated anyway. They need to cover their asses over the Steele Dossier fiasco. This is the media's way of saying, it wasn't their fault. But the media is in on this. They are helping with Brennan's deception. For example, blaming Trump helps Brennan, but that is now falling apart. So will the rest of their phony story, as Bongino is ripping them a new one.
By the way, this all goes back to the sense that Trump is projecting competence, while these guys on the Dem side are definitely not looking competent. They aren't even competent crooks.

Texas won't go blue
Update:
9.13.19:
I have a hunch that Latinos will turn out for Trump, but they won't turn out for the typical GOP candidate. This is what the recent outcomes in N. Carolina tells me. This district was plus 26 for Trump in 2016, but the GOP candidates barely win.
The disrespect for Trump amongst the GOP is a lot of Trump's problem right now. If they were enthusiastically with him, and if the GOP would change its ways, there would be a different story right now.
I voted for Trump because I thought he could pull off such a realignment. Cruz couldn't even win double digits in a primary in the Northeast. Trump nearly won New Hampshire, and he took a Maine district.
Texas' Congressional delegation might go blue, but it doesn't have to. If the public here would wise up, and nominate pro-Trump candidates, the GOP will hang on to Texas.
9.9.19:
Another article about how Texas will turn blue. However, people are forgetting how and why Texas still depends upon fossil fuels. The Democrats are threatening to destroy the fossil fuel industry. Why would anybody in their right mind vote themselves out of a job? That what they will do if they vote Democrat.
I'm not buying that Texas will turn blue. It will only turn blue if the GOP won't make that argument.
Comment:

Democrat Presidential Debate
The transcript is available in case anybody's interested. It is hard to read these blowhards, and I got sick of their stupid crap about half way through.
It would be very helpful if the GOP would get some backbone and tell these blowhards to stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
The fact of the matter is that a lot of ways exist to stop a gunman from shooting up a place. It is just that these people only want to use it as an issue, and don't really want to attack the problem.
Instead, we'll get another gun control law that won't solve the problem, and guess what? It will happen again, and we'll have the same thing to do all over again.
Earlier today, I was looking at ways that a shooter could get immobilized. If an establishment was truly interested in making their place safe, they would be doing these kind of things. It doesn't even require a gun. You can immobilize a person in a number of ways and these don't necessarily require somebody to have a gun. If an establishment wants to ban guns on their premises, they should be required to have an insurance policy to pay for all the damages that may occur if they do nothing else to secure their place.
How to stop these guys? You can hit a gunman in the head with something. You can hit them with tear gas or laughing gas. Or use mace. You can't reach them? Usually these guys are solitary. Please don't give me any crap about not being able to do anything to stop these guys. If you are prepared in advance, you can stop somebody. The guy would be outnumbered by dozens to one. You can't stop him? I think that is a load of bull.
If you look overseas, they now are trying to ban knives. That's because there are a lot of ways to be violent. When gun control gets all guns, they'll just choose different weapons. The problem is in how you are approaching the problem. The problem isn't the weapons, it is the people, and how the problem is not being addressed properly.
The debate was just a bunch of blowhards playing up their partisan audience. If the GOP cannot or will not stand up to this kind of rhetoric, they may as well go the way of the Whigs. They would be useless and everybody would know it. Why should they win if all they do is act like the other party?

Seven Year Anniversary of September 11th Attack in Benghazi Libya
Comment:
Yours truly could NEVER understand how people could vote for these people after what happened in Benghazi. The failure to come to their aid was pretty bad. But they couldn't, and the reason why they couldn't is explained in the link below. The reason was POLITICAL, not the reasons given, which were FALSE.
Bad as that seemed, it was even worse than I thought. And I thought it was pretty damned bad.
It turned out that the MANPADS were indeed a problem, and that they were traceable back to the policy decisions made by the Obama administration during the time leading up to Benghazi.
As the lengthy article linked to below, MANPADS weren't a problem in Afghanistan before this flawed policy, but became so afterward. Not only that, evidence was found of their origin, and it was this Obama Administration policy that made the Taliban acquisition of MANPADS possible.
To think that a flimsy, ridiculous story about a video helped re-elect Obama in 2012, is a troubling thing. It shows that their lies worked then, and still are working today.
We've got to do better, or they may win again.

"Humble" but flawed suggestion
Comment:
The Lt. Gov of this Texas has suggested the same idea as one of the suggestions here. That is, to ban sales of guns to people you don't know.
This is another case of being bullied into doing something unwise.
Why is it unwise? Besides denying the public its 2nd Amendment rights, holding another person responsible for what someone else does is a bad idea. For example, if an airline sells a plane ticket to a terrorist, and the terrorist hijacks the plane and uses it as a weapon, do you hold the airline responsible? Do you hold the plane manufacturer responsible since the plane was used a weapon? Do you hold the box cutter manufacturer responsible because it was used as weapon? Of course not. The person(s) responsible for the atrocity is responsible.
The idea of banning sales of guns to non-family members is flawed for that reason. Quit trying the please the left by accepting their flawed premises. It isn't any of the government's business who you sell your property to.

A few days ago, Microsoft Update informed me that I had to have an update so as to maintain their support. Without the update, it seems as though this computer would be abandoned to the tender mercies of the world wide web.
So I updated. After it was completed, the darned thing wouldn't recognize the speaker or mic. For the last several days, I have wrestled with this problem with no solution.
Actually, I can get audio with my hands free earpiece. But that is not the same as having a speaker and a mic. Bluetooth seemed like a solution, and might still be, but I resent having to buy new devices when the device onboard should work. It did before the update.
The fix might cost 30 to 40 bucks. If I get lucky, it might be 20 bucks. So why post this? The microsoft support wasn't helpful at all. You can send feedback, but there's nothing that comes back to you. Screw this.
Well, maybe I will buy the hardware and cross my fingers. If it works, I am out a little money is all. I still resent this.
Maybe there is another solution! I thought about this recently. I won't mention it, but I will study it. Maybe there is another way.

A failed strategy ( reposted without comment (2015) )
Look, I've been on the side of influencing the system through the process all along.
But if the Court rules in favor of same sex marriage, as far as I'm concerned, all bets are off. For the last 40 years of using the system to overturn Roe v. Wade, and getting enough GOP presidents elected to get a majority on the Court, and yet another Roe v. Wade is presented to you for your efforts, then I think those efforts have all been in vain. Continuing on the same track can only lead to even more humiliating and catastrophic defeats.
So, what to do? Is this it? Is this all?
The following is the kind of question that I asked before, for it is a lot like it. In the movie the Untouchables, the beat cop asked Elliot Ness that same question. Is this it? Is this all?
Also, what are prepared to do? Because you may have to go all the way with these people. All the way means all the way. I'm talking bloodshed here people. If the other side thinks they can get a bloodless coup, what are you going to do about it? Maybe they are right. Maybe you don't have the belly for it.

I DO note that the 2013 article conflates the term "right" with conservatism. Actually, the term "right" isn't necessarily conservative. After all, it is a Marxist term. If you are going to use the left's terminology, you have lost already.
It has been a long running pet peeve of mine, but I may as well get over it. The reason is that too many people who claim to be conservative really aren't, or they would be agreeing with ME.
If you are going to talk like a leftist, then what are you really about, after all?????
