Don Surber: Noonan blames Trump for the attempted coup

Don Surber: Noonan blames Trump for the attempted coup: A reader wrote: Don, PLEASE do a take down of this garbage from Peggy Noonan. It makes my blood boil because it is so unfair to Trump, and...

Here's a quote that I lifted:
Noonan's column is like a plantation owner in the 1870s longing for a return to the Antebellum South.
Nope. The Old South failed. Now Old Washington has failed too. We are not going back. No amount of personal attacks on the president will change that.

Let us hope so.

By the way, if Trump made them do it, does that make Trump the Devil?  Then they could say that the Devil made them do it.

Organization

The legendary football coach Bear Bryant said that you should work on your weaknesses until they become strengths.

One weakness that I seem to have is a lack of organization.  It has been noted on this blog, and is something that I do something about from time-to-time.  But not often enough.

I think it may be important enough to make a habit of organizing something every day.  Time to get organized.  ( for the upteenth time )  Maybe I can remember it this time.

The most amazing comment

Hard for me to imagine that someone could say something like this, especially in this day and age...

Because there are 2 billion suckers out there who were brain washed into believing they’re going to hell if they don’t believe in Jesus [ quoted from the comment section of this video]

The reason I decided to respond to this is that I've studied brainwashing, so I have a clear idea of what it is.  The commenter could not have, and is either lying outright, or doesn't know what the hell he is talking about.

Brainwashing requires strict control of somebody's environment.  There can be no freedom of speech to debate these topics.  In fact, freedom is entirely removed from that environment.  If you don't act according to what the controllers want, then you are punished.

Furthermore, the people who started Christianity were going against a hostile system.  If anybody was brainwashed, it was the Romans, and the Christians were fighting it.  Nobody forced the Christians into their circle.  Indeed, you had to join the Christians with the foreknowledge that you were taking your own life in your hands, for if you were found out, you would be punished.  Many times, that punishment would be in the most disagreeable ways imaginable.

Has that changed today?  Nope.  There are Christians today being slaughtered in Islamic lands for doing nothing but following their religion.  They follow it in a very hostile environment, not that much unlike the Romans.  That is not brainwashing.  Only somebody who wishes to deceive could say otherwise, or somebody who is incredibly brainwashed themselves, and entirely ignorant of this reality.

Update:

A couple things to say here for clarification, if it is needed.  First, brainwashing is referred to as equivalent to coercive persuasion, which is the technical term.  In order to have coercive persuasion, you need a captive audience.  Literally captive, as in prisoner.  An example is the Patty Hearst case.

Secondly, coercive persuasion does not mean that an individual is unaware of what he/she is doing.  There was a movie in the sixties called Manchurian Candidate that comes to mind.  In that movie, the guy who was "brainwashed" had no idea of what he was doing when he came out of the spell.

Also, Patty Hearst's defense was brainwashing, which was rejected by the jury.  She knew what she was doing, but she was "persuaded" by the environment in which she was brought into.  That's what you get.  It is also referred to as Stockholm Syndrome, in which the captive starts to identify with the captors.

The Stockholm Syndrome didn't apply to ancient Christians in Roman Times.  If it did, they wouldn't have lasted 2000 years.  It doesn't apply now either.  Nowhere that I know of captures people and force them to convert to Christianity.  But many Christians have been captured and forced to convert or die.

That's odd

Update:

4.25.19:

Just tested a theory.  The theory is that it may be an effort to block those sites that they don't want to service.

The theory has already been tested with another blog.   The links go dead, and to click on those links, you have to go to a Google resource, such as the Chrome Browser, which then allows the click to go through.

The thing that was happening in the videos was that the list of videos to view was being blocked on a non-Chrome browser.  When I went to Chrome, then the list of videos returned. [ correction: Actually, it was using a bookmark in a non-chrome browser...]

In addition, it was also blocking embedding in a non-Chrome browser.  Embedding returned with the use of a Chrome browser.

Motivations?  Not sure that you can say watching Christian videos was the key.  It could be a coincidence.  But the common thing was that it was google in support of google.  This could include anybody who google doesn't like, which could include Christians.  But that is only a hypothesis at this point.

4.24.19:

All of a sudden, there is a problem using YouTube.  I was using it a lot recently, and this past bit of what you might call "research" focused heavily on Christianity.  Now, there is a limited amount of videos that I can access easily.

Evidently, somebody or something just made it a bit harder to use YouTube.  Just feeds the suspicion.

You might get the idea that they don't want you looking at these videos.

The Truth About Christianity That Nobody Tells You

So, I mentioned that YouTube is cutting me short a bit.  However, I found this channel, and found some interesting stuff.

This video has a lot of views, but it is a series.  In order to find all of the rest, you will need to click on the channel and see the links to all of them.

I went through several so far, but by no means all.  One thing that you may notice is that the audience numbers go down the further you get into it.

What does this tell me?  It tells me that he is beginning to contradict a few things that the first comers believed.  As he goes along, he loses more and more.  How many would stick with him until the end of his series?

As for me, I don't know.

I'm stopping now to take a break from it, and to write this post.  Will I go back?  Maybe.  I see no reason not to at this time.  By the way, I see no sharing the code for embedding, so there is no video for you to click on directly.  It is only a text link.

What Was Found in Christ’s Empty Tomb?

Updated,

4.23.19:

2:25 pm:

The Resurrection of Jesus ( Historical Evidence )

As you might have guessed, I am working on a proof of sorts.  To establish as best as can be determined from what we know, what actually happened in that time.

The evidence rolls in, and it is pretty convincing.  Of course, there is a counter argument.

The counter arguments may seem pretty convincing too.  In this link to a video, the counter arguments are examined at length.  The conclusion is that the Resurrection of Jesus best explains what happened to the body of the man known as Jesus of Nazareth.

1:30 pm:

Rather than make another post, this will go here, because it fits in with the most recent update.  Was there a Pontius Pilate?  Pretty convincing evidence exists that there was.  Was there a Jesus of Nazareth?  Here's a video that recaps all the sources of information that exist that should satisfy any reasonable person that, yes there was a Jesus of Nazareth.

oops... here's one more link that caused me to write this post in the first place.  A new source of information from the Jews.  ( some say a pagan )

4.22.19:

2 pm:

Who was Pontius Pilate?  Was he a real person?  Here's a long video that discusses it at length, and provides a good reason to believe he really did live at that time, and was governor of Judea at that time.  I linked in at the end because there is a lot more info here than you need in order to make that determination.

12:00 noon:

Here's a link showing evidence of the existence of Jesus from non-Christian sources.  The sources are the Roman historian Tacitus, Pliny the Younger,  Josephus (  A 1st century Jewish historian ),  and some others.  Tacitus wrote about Nero, who blamed the Christians for the fire in Rome ( c. AD 64 ).

10:30 am:

This topic seem worthy of further study, and here's a website with some answers.

The question is was Christ's body stolen from the tomb?

The site has plenty to say, so you can spend some time there.

4.21.19:

9:30 am:

Comment:

Today is Easter, and a few thoughts.

A few days ago, I rented a movie called Risen , which is about a Roman tribune who went in search of Jesus' body.

It followed the Gospels a bit loosely, so I think --- meh.

Reviewing the Gospel of Matthew, it can be seen that the tomb was guarded and sealed.  That is what the movie showed.  The movie did not show angels moving the stone.  Only a drunken Roman soldier who guarded the tomb, and what the tribune heard him say about it under questioning.

The link below describes what was believed to be what was in the tomb after the Resurrection.

I suppose everybody will believe whatever they wish to believe.

The article below links the two cloths together, and the findings are that they are of the same person.  The article goes on to say that it would hold up in a court of law.  Plus there is more...

Update:

12:17 pm:

Here's an account of the story written as if it happened in modern times.  It seems to support the movie version above in the sense that the tomb was guarded by Elite Roman Troops, and that there was a subsequent search for the body.

NEWS ALERT: Officials Scramble To Deal With Reports Of Empty Tomb  via @mtapscott

When it comes to the "news" media...

... it seems that they are like the boy who cried wolf.   They will lose credibility until they are not believed even when they may be telling the truth.

I haven't believed the media in a long time.  At this point, I am skeptical of ANYTHING they say.

Some assembly required

Maybe as many as eight guys put this together in less than 4 minutes.  At the end of the assembly, the jeep is started, and drives them all across a finish line.

You might use this if there are no regulations to satisfy, and for demonstrations only.  It isn't likely a serviceable vehicle.

Reading the Mueller Report

Updated:

4.22.19:

Dershowitz says Mueller got the law of obstruction wrong.  Actually, I got the impression that they are attempting to remove the president on purely political grounds, and are using the legal system as a pretext in order to make it seem nonpolitical.

In any case, this should not be allowed.

4.21.19:

The Report is divided into two volumes.  Volume I is about Russian collusion.   Volume II is about obstruction of justice.

Obstruction of justice is a catch-all, in my opinion.  It is ripe for abuse by an over-zealous prosecutor.  In the hands of a political adversary, the only thing that can protect the individual is public support.  In the end, it comes down to politics.

It has been my opinion that this case involved an abuse of power, whereby the political actors decided to use the judicial system in order to bring about a political result.  Somehow, this must be stopped so something like this cannot happen again.

If nothing is done to stop this, these people will not quit this.  Even though no conspiracy was found, they want to continue under the obstruction of justice fig leaf for as long as Trump is president, and even after he leaves.  Not only against the president, but against all of his supporters.

This concludes my writing on the subject for now.  I don't know if I will write any more.  It seems like I called it on day one.  It is a Scooter Libbey redux.  This kind of weapon needs to be taken out of their hands.

4.20.19:

Something hit me just now as I was reading this thing.  The thing is that the Democrats are to blame for their own problems, even if the Russians DID hack their emails.

It's because of poor security practices.  I discussed this problem during the election of 2016.  So, they spent all this money and all this time, and they still want to blame Trump for it.  There is no wonder that they lost the election.  Indeed, you wonder why they even win at all.  It must be because the public is so dumbed down that they don't get it.  Or that the GOP is so weak of an opposition party that they cannot exploit this weakness.  If the Russians did it, as Mueller claims, it is the Democrats' own damned fault.

For example, it is poor security practice to put sensitive information on the "cloud".  Sensitive information should be closely held, but this is not.

GRU is Russian intelligence
The Mueller Report is more of an indictment of the DNC than it is of Trump.  This is being generous.  I am sure that it is a lot worse for the DNC than this.

There is plenty more, but it doesn't impress me.  Actually, what worries me is the total lack of competence in our government.  Mueller isn't very good, or he is corrupt, or both.

Don Surber: 9th Circuit overturns Supreme Court decision

Don Surber: 9th Circuit overturns Supreme Court decision: On June 25, 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-3 to strike down Arizona's law enforcing federal immigration laws. Justice Anthony Kenn...

Comment:

The ninth circuit has long been a rogue court.  It is now completely open and obvious about it.

Look, the antebellum Southern states tried to do the same thing.  It is called "nullification".  Nullification has never been upheld by a federal court.  Now a federal inferior court is nullifying Supreme Court precedents.  This is nullification within the federal court system.

History shows what nullification led to.  If the Supreme Court doesn't step in immediately and quash this, then we will have two countries.  War or disunion will follow shortly.

Housekeeping 4.21.19

Once upon a time, I created a category for this.  The infrequency of the posts seem to suggest how little time I actually spend on it.

It's about time for some of that, then.

The reminder was that video about shortcuts.  Now I am reorganizing things.  Hey, it might lead to some improvement, who knows?
