Biden's DOJ is charging Trump with a crime regarding classified documents. But Biden has a serious problem with classified documents himself. They're covering it up, too. So the House is trying to get the audio, since the audio will show whether Biden should be charged or not. The trouble is that if Biden cannot be charged because of his mental state, then how can he be president? Either way, Biden loses.

That's why the Democrats are diverting attention with the catfights and such. Attention is drawn away from what the hearing is about. The Democrats cannot allow the truth to emerge.

How can this man be taken seriously? Also, why should anybody on the GOP side care about what he says when he criticizes those who visited Trump at this court case?

Does Romney not understand that the case was manufactured out of thin air? Mueller obtained Cohen's testimony after piling decades of possible jail time as a threat in order to get him to flip against his old boss. Cohen pleaded guilty to a non-crime in order to get a corrupt plea bargain deal. What this means is that Cohen may not have been guilty of anything himself. Lawfare tactics were applied to him in order to get Cohen to testify against Trump in a future trial. Cohen wasn't the true target, he was used to get at Trump.

The trial against Trump is also manufactured out of thin air. It is a politically motivated trial based upon testimony from two key witnesses who have no credibility.

Yet Romney treats the case seriously, as if Trump is guilty of anything at all. The only proof that Trump accusers have is of Stormy Daniels, who is a porn star for crying out loud. Romney would believe a porn star over a party member. He cannot even maintain a semblance of party unity. After all, this is a "he-said, she said". When it comes to who to believe, Romney would rather believe the porn star than the leader of his own party. Secondly, he would believe Cohen, who has had this testimony extracted from him from what should be considered prosecutorial abuse. Keep in mind, Cohen was Trump's attorney, and had attorney client privilege over-ruled in favor a prosecution that didn't even have a predicate--- meaning that Trump was being prosecuted for political reasons.

Romney is a fool. Why would he think that Biden would even consider giving Trump a pardon? The trial has been concocted in order to gain a political advantage. Why would Biden deprive himself of the advantage he corruptly sought in the first place?

It is hard to believe that he got the nomination for President of the United States in 2012. Harder still to have let myself think that he was worth going to the polls and voting for him then. But then, he was the only game in town. The GOP couldn't manage anything better back then. How pathetic they are.

It is a Near Earth Object, and potential hazardous object. It is also very rich in materials that could be sold on Earth. However, it would make much more sense to mine the asteroid for use in situ, since there is enough material to make many O'Neill colonies.

It was estimated to worth trillions of dollars. However, the mining of the object for that purpose alone is probably not worth it. But to combine it with planetary defense mission, and to whittle away its hazardous potential seems worthwhile. The materials brought back to Earth could help finance the enterprise.

Here's a possibility: Since transporting large amounts of matter requires too much rocket power, then why not re-shape and convert dangerous asteroids into way stations? The asteroid Bennu is mostly a rubble pile. It could contain significant quantities of water. If not, it is a carbonaceous asteroid that could be converted into a useful structure. It is about the length of the Empire State Building.

The asteroid was visited in the recently completed sample mission "Osiris-Rex". It is fairly close in astronomical terms. Anyway, having achieved its mission in getting the sample back to Earth, the same spacecraft has been diverted to another asteroid that may prove hazardous.

Might this suggest a way to deal with hazardous objects that could slam into Earth? Just mine them away for whatever useful materials they might have, and eventually the thing becomes non-hazardous. Or make some useful structures out of it. If Bennu has a lot of water and carbon, that might also be useful in making a lot of fuel for the next hazardous object to be dealt with.

Ground based observation for dangerous asteroids is very limited in what can be seen. Perhaps bases could be set up to observe more of the neighborhood around Earth by converting formerly dangerous asteroids such as these. In other words, planetary defense combined with mining for anything useful that could also be obtained.

If you run the numbers, it will become evident that this is an impossible task. The only way to get that much mass to even begin such a project would require some sort of mass driver that could send 1 ton of steel towards a LaGrangian point. That mass driver would have to go at a rate of 1 ton per second for over a million years in order to get enough mass even going in the right direction. Then it would have to be assembled or welded together continously for over a million years. After that, you'd have to stock it with an atmosphere, and some life. You could spend another million years doing that.

Not likely in this universe. Maybe in the Star Trek universe. The cylinders being discussed are much, much too large.

Middle class squeeze

The out-of-control spending in consequence to radical leftist social policy prescriptions, has cause the FED to have to raise interest rates in order to combat inflation. The cure is the same as in the 80's, but with more controls over spending, and far less regulations. We're getting a lot more of both, which is why the economy can't grow. In the meantime, inflation is not being tamed.

In the 80's, supply side economics ended the 70's inflation. Higher interest rates alone will not do the trick. There has to be real economic growth, and these leftist policies are inhibiting that. Were these high rates necessary? They wouldn't have been if Trump's policies remained in effect. It's not for nothing that Biden's policies caused the inflation rate to jump.

Trump cannot bring these to anyone's attention while he is in courts having to defend against phony charges. The charges are needed to keep Trump silent so that the Democrats cannot be held accountable for their mismanagement of the government.

The significance of the Starship

5/13/24:

Version 3 of Starship will put 200 tons in orbit. Sea Dragon was touted to be able to put over 500 tons into orbit. It would appear that Starship has some room to grow.

12 meter Starships? How about 18 meter Starships? At that size, the capacity may rival the Sea Dragon.

The devil is in the details. How to build and service this behemoth? Perhaps the clue is in the purchase of offshore platforms. This has been reversed supposedly, but it could be seen again. Indeed, the kind of infrastructure needed for a really huge spacecraft like Sea Dragon may require an offshore facility.

One would have to think really big in order to do really big things. Something tells me that small ball may be the way things go. Using a go- big or go-home type challenge requires a people big enough to do big things. Are we a big time country anymore? It may not be anymore.

The limits of Starship, visions of 12 meter wide Starships, reddit thread

The discussion of Sea Dragon comes to mind once again, as it is mentioned in the above Reddit thread. There's an advantage to using really big rockets. It has a better mass to useful cargo ratio as it scales up. In other words, bigger is better. The best would be as big as you can make it.

My criticism of Sea Dragon involved making it a single engine monster. This monster will need a lot of powerful engines to get it off the ground. That sucker will be so big that it may need a special location away from all other people. I'm thinking an offshore platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

A twelve meter wide Starship may not even be the biggest possible size. Eventually you may be able to put as much as the Sea Dragon was claiming to be able to do. Maybe even more. If so, and if you can make it rapidly reusable with fast turnarounds, then you can make some really massive off-world construction projects. I'm thinking O'Neil colonies.

The stuff of science fiction that may make it into science fact. Or science fantasy. We'll see.

4/22/2023: Starship update #6

There's a tweet from Musk that says he has a plan in the works already, and will be ready to launch in one or two months. That seems like "Elon time". It may take a bit longer than he anticipates. The FAA is required to do an investigation, and the government doesn't move quite so fast.

It will be awhile, I suspect.

Meanwhile, what else to say about it? In terms of his architecture to get to the Moon and Mars, I think it's flawed. In particular with respect to the Moon. There are going to be many refueling trips from the ground to the the Starship lunar version while it is in low Earth orbit ( LEO). Why so many? For a rocket with twice the thrust of the Saturn V, why do you need so many refueling trips?

The Saturn V system shed mass as it went along. The less mass you carry around with you, the less fuel you need to get to the next destination along the way. The Starship is carrying a LOT of mass with it. In order to get from LEO to Lunar Orbit, there will have to be a burn. Perhaps there is a better plan than that, but that is what the Saturn V used. There was a burn to get a lunar orbit, then it released a lunar module. The lunar module itself was divided into an upper module and lower one. The lower module powered it down to the surface, and the upper module got it back up in lunar orbit for the return trip. Each time, it shed something it no longer needed, and reduced the propellant mass needed for the next stage of the mission. That's how the Saturn V did it. But not the Starship. They will land the entire thing, and that's going to take a lot of propellant to speed it up and slow it down.

The lunar Starship is already going to be expendable. That means it is already going to be a different bird than the regular Starship. An optimized version could be designed that will get the job done with a lot fewer launches.

But Musk may have different plans. We'll see how those work. Unless the plan is a lot like the one that worked during the Apollo program, there may be a problem.

It looks like Elon Musk's latest invention will work. One part of it works, at least. The next parts are untested, but the belly flop maneuver will work. But it's not going to be enough.

In my opinion, it is one thing to land a mostly empty Starship on a prepared surface. It is quite another to land it on a place that you have never seen before, such as Mars or even the Moon.

The Starship has a really aggressive maneuver there with that belly flop. Perhaps that is the main reason that it failed so many times before it succeeded. You've got fuel to consider. The belly flop maneuver is on mostly EMPTY tanks. If you go to the Moon, and you want to come back ( I'd think), then you have to land with plenty of fuel still on board.

You'd also have to land on the unprepared surface. The Starship is tall. It can tip over easily. That would not be good if you are on Mars or the Moon.

The Starship's real significance lies not in that it can get to the Moon or Mars. It is in the fact that it can get to LEO cheaply. It is a first step, not a final step. There has to be many steps besides this one.

Maybe it can be modified to land on the Moon. That's a thought.

The way it was done during the Apollo Era was to shed weight as you go. Unneeded pieces that were discarded allowed for less mass that had to be brought back. Less mass can become quite dramatic, and the opposite is also true. Less mass means less fuel. It all translates into much less mass that has to be launched.

If you try to land that big thing on the Moon, you are going to need a LOT of fuel to get there and back. One refueling would probably not be enough. An empty Starship weighs about the same as the Space Shuttle. You need to think about that one.

Refueling has not been demonstrated in space yet. So there you are. It's a possibility if you can get to space cheaply. But the concept isn't completed yet. Lots more needs to be done.

If you can put a lot of stuff into space, you may be able to build an infrastructure up there. That would include the Moon and Mars. Also the places in between. The infrastructure is the next step. The Starship can get it there. That's the signficance.

If you are doing the right things, the votes will take care of themselves. How many times have I seen so-called right wing pundits do their poll watching routines, while ignoring the things that they should be talking about.

So this could be the latest diversion. Let the Democrats get away with diverting attention from the massive failures of the Democrats and the brain dead President. Watch those polls, guys. /eyeroll

Brandon is offering a "deal" that looks like desperation. It's a Hail Mary pass.

Explanation: Biden is in real trouble in Michigan. These people are turning against him, but Biden cannot afford to lose them. So he tosses this one out there in order to appease them so that they might be rallied back to his side. If the Hail Mary works, there will be no further "genocide". Trouble is, there never was any "genocide". Biden is offering to sell out Hamas in favor of stopping the miscalled "genocide" which isn't a genocide. The premise is that this sellout of Hamas is going to pacify Islamists in Michigan, and rally the hard left back to his side.

In effect, it is a fig leaf. He cannot stop Israel from defending itself, so now he needs a way to retreat without suffering an ignominous defeat, and also failing to save Hamas from utter defeat as well. So he needs some sort of policy victory, and Hamas and the hard left commies need some sort of fig leaf to hide behind a policy defeat of great magnitude. Hamas WILL be defeated in any case. Biden cannot stop that. Nobody can stop that. But Biden hopes to salvage something from this, and hence the desperation move of selling out Hamas' leadership.

As can be seen, this can lead to an even more grievous defeat of Brandon than he currently believes. For if he ever had such intelligence all along, why withhold it to an ally--Israel?

Brandon has really screwed the pooch this time. This may cause a complete collapse of his credibility. With that, his presidency may be finished. At least, some people seem to think so. For me, I don't see what has held him up this long. If this is testimony to anything, it is to the saying that nobody has gone broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

In case you weren't paying attention, this means that the Biden administration has been privy to key intelligence that could have helped Israel win the war without endangering large swaths of people in Gaza BUT THEY CHOSE NOT TO SHARE IT.

I might add that I've always thought, from the very beginning, that January 6th was a false flag. Indeed, this wasn't a coup engineered by Trump, but rather a coup engineered by Pelosi and her fellow Democrats.

I might add also that she has had plenty of support from many in the GOP, including the infamous Liz Cheney. Pelosi lost her bid here, in the USA, and is now peddling her story in Europe, it seems. Just one vote in the Senate stopped a full scale coup by the Democrats. They wanted to ensure their full and complete grip upon power by instituting it into law, but Senator Manchin opposed it. We were that close to losing it all.

If they had succeeded with that, there would no longer be any alternative to the Democrats. How then is that Democracy? Democracy is a choice, not the prohibition against choice. The Democrats sought a prohibition against choice. They aren't protecting Democracy, they are protecting their own interests in holding on to power. They want to hold on to power forever. That almost happened. It still could.

First of all, I've posted quite a bit about privacy issues lately. Our cell phones are spying devices that can be used against us. Most folks do not seem to consider that to be a problem. Shall I speculate a bit? Would it be fair that many of those who were arrested and tried for a felony crime on that day, were tracked using data supplied by their own cell phones?

If you accept that much as true, and perhaps you should, since the juries who voted to convict seemed to be accepting it; then what kind of insurrectionists are these? They must not be very sophisticated, eh? Wouldn't it have been better planning and executing to have kept their identities unknown, just in case their nefarious deeds may be traced back to themselves? For example, the Antifa mob wears masks, do they not? Perhaps they also do not keep their phones with them. Or their phones aren't being used against them the way the Jan 6th people were.

Something really doesn't add up. If there's such an information imbalance in favor of the government, then how is it that the Democrat Speaker was caught unaware of these alleged insurrectionists? The participants in the "insurrection" had spying devices implanted on their very persons. Nancy and Co. knew their whereabouts, and perhaps even their intentions. But did the "insurrectionists" know that they were being watched?

Of course I'm insinuating that the government knew all they needed to know beforehand. They could have stopped anything from happening, but instead ALLOWED IT TO HAPPEN. Also, they may well have PARTICPATED in it, so as to INSTIGATE it themselves, for the purposes of casting blame for its occurrence upon those who showed up that day.

If you reject this, then why? The government HAD to know what was going on. The "insurrectionists" were at a disadvantage because they certainly didn't know that they could end up in jail for their troubles. This alone should cast suspicion upon the government for setting this up for their own benefit. After all, cui bono? Who benefited and who didn't? Who has consistently tried to exploit this for political advantage? Why is it so hard to see how they might well have wanted this to happen so that they could use it for their own advantage? January 6th was a set up. Pelosi is a liar, or she is unbelievably ignorant of what her own government is doing.

If abandoning Judeo-Christian ethics is a problem, then look in the mirror FIRST. Make sure that you're not engaging in confirmation bias. You're not jumping to conclusions, and you're not mind-reading. Am I self-aware enough to discover these as biases of my own? If so, what to do about it?

Once those questions are answered properly, then let's go forward with analyzing this guy in this video who claims it was a coup, and what are his errors? Glenn Greenwald does that, so let's look at Greenwald's analysis and see if this was correct, and then proceed to determine if it was projection.

It is probably not entirely correct for me to jump a step or two, but for the sake of this post, let's assume that Greenwald's analysis is absolutely correct. Therefore, does the guy in question KNOW what he is saying is false? For if he does, then this may be a prime example of PROJECTION.

I will leave it at that for now. I can say this, I'd like to BELIEVE that it is true and that it is projection. So maybe I should check the lists to make sure that I'm right. Seems like I have a habit of doing that, or I'd like to believe that I have that habit already. But since self-awareness is often a problem, I will double check.

Why bother? Because we've got a problem, and to do nothing about it is condemning ourselves to failure again and again.

In connection with the previous post today, I'll include some info sources for consideration. Hopefully, reason will prevail. However, reason is under assault, and reason may well be down for the count. If it were a boxing match, and reason was a boxer, it would be receiving the final count right now. If reason doesn't get up off the canvas in time, it may well be finished.

Bill Maher is a "voice of reason" by the usual "standards" of the left. But that doesn't make him reasonable. If this is as good as it gets on the left, they are all crazy. The left is on a hate binge for anyone who stands in their way. Very democratic of them.

Justice Alito and Justice Thomas sound the warnings about the threat to campus free speech. The left is fully capable of nasty things. Just look at what they are doing to Trump. Look at what they did to Kavanaugh. Look at what they did to Judge Robert Bork, and Clarence Thomas himself. Representative Scalise was shot by a Bernie Bro. Senator Rand Paul was beat up. The left is like a rabid dog. Is there any way to reach these people?

Examples abound and have been noted here several times. But the left presents itself as the weaker party. How can that be? All objective facts will lead you to the opposite conclusion. The left isn't defending Democracy. They are destroying it. Therefore, the attacks are just projection on a grotesque and obscene level.

It reminds me of what I read about the beginnings of the second world war, when Nazi Germany attacked Poland. They accused Poland of aggression. The "aggressors" were met with tanks, while they had to fight on horseback. That kind of grotesque projection is what we are seeing today from the self proclaimed defenders of democracy. We are in the deepest possible doo-doo.
