Mungo Jerry: In the Summertime
Short on batt power, and I couldn't think of nothing else to put up, so here's this.
Kinda tuff day, so this light hearted thing may take my mind off of it. Yeah, right. Nah! Wasn't that bad. Anyway, this will be all because the battery is weak, and it is too hot to sit in the living room since the swampy hasn't been swamping it up.
Too hot, too weak, too everything, Too much.

Arrived, it has
A bit of Yoda speak, that is.
My swamp cooler is here, and is working as I write this up.
As of now, it is early to say as to its effectiveness. It is not a air conditioner, let's start off with that. But, I knew that before going in.
I want to monitor the climate conditions inside the trailer in order to give a full evaluation today. That means it will run from about 2 pm to 6 pm. Possibly longer, but that is when the heat of the day dissipates, so the need for cooling is a lot less.
But also, it is running on solar. After 6 pm, the amount of solar power dwindles down, and then it becomes too much of a drain on this little battery.
Current conditions at 2 pm was about 85 degrees, ( outside temp 91) with relative humidity guesstimated at about 60 percent ( outside rel hum at 45 percent) . That is a bit high inside here. Need to work on better ventilation. Got the a/c on fan mode, and another fan running. It is possible to open up one more vent, but at the moment, I feel too lazy to make the effort.
I'll update at six.
That is all for now...
Updated:
The temperature held steady, but the indoor humidity got higher. It would be more efficient if there was better ventilation. It also stayed on solar power until 6 pm. That is a big plus. It proves that temperatures can be controlled using this device and a modest power source.
I did maximize the ventilation even though I said I was too lazy earlier. Still, the humidity rose too high, I would think. I am guessing about 75 percent. My 30 year old weather station doesn't work like it used to. I have to guess at humidity.
It may help to keep it out of the sun. During the hottest part of the day, the thing is in the sun. No shade for it. It would be beneficial, I would think, if I put in some kind of shade.
All in all, a good test. Not great, but good.

Follow up MRI coming soon
Next week to be exact. It will be the third follow up, and the seventh MRI I have had since 2016.
The last two showed progress, and I expect this one will too. I figure I must be doing better, even though it is hard to tell from day to day.
One measurement is what I write about. If I were doing badly, my health would be on my mind constantly. Going back, and looking at posts I wrote back then, demonstrates this to me.
So, I think I am doing well. Let's hope so.
Yeah, and I am thinking and planning how to get back to my "moonshot". Another indicator that I must be doing well. Otherwise, I would have let that go.
I should be grateful. I received the best "care on earth" according to my doctor. I agree. I could not have asked for better.
It is easy to forget such good fortune, and focus instead on things that make a person unhappy.
I will try to remember to be grateful for this. Gratitude is something I tend to forget.

Obligatory, 6.15.18
Made it to another Friday. Ah, now I get to work. Yay for work.
In the meantime, the swamp cooler arrives today, according to FedEx. I may have to do some fancy footwork in order to connect the hoses to the cooler. The way I have set up the cooling system ( sans the swamp cooler ) was to have the hoses reversed. It looks crazy, but there was a reason for it. I don't recall the reason now. At any rate, to pull the hose out and put it in the other way would entail a lot of tearing up of stuff that I would just as soon let alone.
I will think of something.
Moving on to the bigger scene. The Never Trumpers never seem to fail to find fault with Trump. They should keep Congress in a walk, but these guys seem determined to lose. An immigration bill? Puhleeze. When the Democrats had the Congress and the Presidency, there was no amnesty. Why now? This proposed bill would cause a lot of people on the GOP side to stay home and not vote for these rascals. It is almost like a planned estrangement.
The Democrats should be caught up in a humongous scandal, yet the GOP cannot capitalize. Heck, they will not capitalize. They simply aren't interested in governing. Nobody is forcing them to do these self destructive things, so they must want to do these things. But they would never do it as a minority party. There should be a RED wave in November, but there still could be a BLUE wave instead. The only reason that this could be so is that the GOP doesn't want to win.
A thought that keeps popping up in my mind is that our society seems to avoid accountability like it was a plague. Why have elections if only one result is allowable? Those who scream "democracy" and "rule of law" seem to be the ones who have the least regard for it. There were a lot of disparaging text messages that were against Trump and his supporters. This is from an organization that is prohibited from engaging in politics. If you cannot have a peaceable transfer of power from one party to the other, then what is going to happen next? Assassinations? Coups? A banana republic seems to be on the threshold. A banana republic does not allow its leaders to be accountable for anything.

Dick Morris: IG Report Cuts Ground Out from Under Mueller
Western Journal dot com
Morris says that Comey has been shown to be deserving of being fired, so that ends the obstruction argument, with regard to Comey.
The part with Flynn looks shakey too, because Flynn was not actually lying, according to those FBI agents at the interview. The conviction may be thrown out because it is obviously wrong.
No collusion has been found, so why continue the Mueller investigation?

Highly anticipated OIG report due out today
Something leaked out that said that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page were discussing how they would stop a Trump presidency.
Both of these characters were on Mueller's team in the beginning.
To me, it Captain Obvious time, but I suppose that this thing will never be properly accounted for, as Mueller is still in business, and the Democrats still want to impeach Trump for winning the 2016 election.

Building plans
Let's face it. The last attempt at building something out west was a failure. It may be instructive to go back and study what I did then, and then apply those lessons to the next time.
First of all, a couple of links to what I thought of what I did back then:
After doing those three, I set up the subseries of four series of off-the-grid posts.
Most of the entries for water came after the trip. The last one of food was over a year ago.
The last one for power was in October of last year.
Construction posts have been the most recent. What this says is that the first thing to come to mind is food and possibly the last is construction. Until you build something though, it doesn't matter about food.
I'd say construction, power, and water are the priorities now.
As for construction, I have been thinking up how I will approach the project. Call it a program, like a computer program. Except that I am the computer programming myself for the task. A procedure for building it will be made before I make another trip.
The last trip was too disorganized. Hopefully, I can do better the next time.

Momma dog to rescue
The puppy was very lucky to survive that attack. It happens in an instant.
Update:
It is relevant for me to be aware of these things because there are mountain lions out West. They can attack in an instant just like this leopard.

Turning Air Into Gasoline
Here is a claim that carbon dioxide can be recaptured and converted back into drop in fuels, which would make them carbon neutral.
The power source would be the usual wind and solar.
Note that this could be the best use scenario for wind and solar, because plugging an intermittent power source into the grid is more trouble than it is worth. For this process, an intermittent loss of power may not be an issue. The product resulting would be the same as in use now, which would solve the intermittent power loss problem.
It should not be a surprise that this could be feasible, because from what I have been told, the emissions from a coal fired plant is cleaner than the air that went in.
As always, you have to look at costs. The claim here is that they could remove the same amount of carbon dioxide as would be released from burning one gallon of gasoline for a cost of about $1 to $2.50. It doesn't say whether or not that includes reconversion into gasoline. My guess is that you cannot produce gasoline from carbon dioxide at these prices.
And, of course, why rely upon solar and wind? You could still use nuclear, but, of course that isn't "green".
I say if wind and solar can beat nuclear in terms of cost, then go for it.

This would be even better.

Caveat Emptor
If you buy into the headline, and fail to read the small print, you may be disillusioned with the outcome.
He says 3 of 5 things must occur before Trump wins, not that Trump will win 40 states no matter what.
Something of a difference.
Not that I mind good news, but...

It works better when you plug it in.
Almost funny, but maybe not these days.
It seems like people want to believe something works, when clearly it doesn't. If it isn't "plugged in", it is never going to work.
So, what are you "plugging into"? The truth!
Truth won't work if you won't recognize it. Notice the word "won't". I use that word in connection to one's own power of choice. The truth could be staring you in the face, but you may never see it. Especially if you aren't "plugged into" truth in the first place. Such is the case with post modernism. It teaches people to be unconcious to the truth.
Why, you can make your own truth! So say the post modernists. And Bruce Jenner is really a girl, even though he fathered children.
Such a frame of mind can never be receptive to the truth no matter how well presented. This is why I make the comparison to Aesop's fable of the wolf and the lamb. The lamb will never convince the wolf no matter how well he argues the truth. For the wolf will do exactly what he pleases.
You have to confront the wolf and beat him at his own game.
"Conservatives" who won't confront the liberal wolf aren't conservatives. They are wolves in sheep's clothing themselves.

If the "newspaper of record" is "sophomoric", what does that say about us?
Ed Driscoll writes a piece that describes the New York Times as sophomoric. A question I tend to have is what does it say about the larger society in which we live? Is it not true that our entire culture is running downhill? It isn't just journalism.
I read recently that there is a movement on to require "diversity" in the hard sciences. The hard sciences has been resistant to the cultural rot, but even that is succumbing to the idiocy of political correctness. It will no longer matter as to the quality of one's research. No, what will matter is who does it. This has nothing to do with the truth of the matter under study.
Pretty soon we will all do our science based upon political correctness. Imagine what kind of science that would be. No, you don't have to imagine. Because it already is true. That is what AGW is all about. It isn't science. It is fake science.
If an entire culture can be corrupted like this, then collapse is not far away. Bridges could collapse because nobody knows how to do the math.
Think I am kidding?
Our culture reached a peak in the sixties. You can see it in the GDP per capita in terms of gold. It reached a peak then, and has not returned. You can see it in the lack of material progress. The failure to follow up the moon landings. The failure to win wars. Inflation. The continued degradation in morality and virtue. The utter lack of seriousness in the popular culture. The 911 attacks.
Sophomoric is not too harsh a word. Perhaps something worse could be said. Not that anybody would listen.
