Did George Will call President George Herbert Walker Bush "feckless"?

8/9/25:

George Will seems to be one of those who are supposedly on the "conservative" side, but seems to like to curry favor with the political left. Now he is sucking up to those who like the commie mayoral candidate-- Zohran Mamswampi. Let him win, says the alleged conservative.

One wonders how Will got a reputation for being a conservative. What the hell has he ever done for conservatism, but help to sink it???

6/23/18:

Anybody out there remember that far back?  I'm not sure myself, but I know somebody called Bush that, as I wasn't familiar with the word.  I looked up its meaning back then.

It seems to be word that isn't used much.  So a person might not know what it means.  Even somebody well educated.  Okay, maybe not everyone would think I am well educated, but I am not that dumb.  The word "feckless" just isn't used much, but seems to me it was used even less before it was brought into use about that time.

If George Will really did call Papa Bush that, then what does that make him?  They seem to like Democrats so much, but they don't want to be called Democrats.  They want to be called "conservative".  But it might take a bit of effort to be a conservative.  It might take more than wearing bow ties.

He calls other GOP'ers who support Trump as his "poodles".  Well, what about George Will himself?  He seems to like to hang around liberals, so maybe he's a liberal's poodle.  They write his paycheck, do they not?

Guys like Will are a lot like McCain, who seems to be very interested in getting approval from the left.  They tend to forget who put them where they are.  It wasn't anybody on the left, that's for sure.

A good definition for feckless,by the way, is "weak".  I'd say George Will is a bit feckless at this point.  How about standing tall against liberalism, Georgie Boy?  Are they that big a threat to you?  He thinks being brave is fighting against your own.  How about protecting your own, if that is who you identify with?

But that might take some guts.

A long running theme of this blog

8/9/25:

The following article says the guardrails are coming off in the Democrat Party. The party of government is out of control. If they control the government again, the government will once again be out of control.

Carville sounds as nutty as ever.

9/9/24:

Here's a tweet about how Robert Reich wanting to shut down SpaceX. For what? For disagreeing with him?

Musk isn't the one who's crazy. Musk isn't out of control. It's the government. The government stands in the way of actual material progress. Instead they pitch the most reactionary of ideas of massive controls over people, something that should be obsolete, but has now reared its ugly head once again in human affairs.

Freedom won in 1776 was a radical new concept at the time. Perhaps it should not be trashed just because a few reactionaries who want their tyranny back, and are having a temper tantrum.

I used to write a turn of phrase about it. I wrote "Houston, we have a solution". Actually, I think we've got a problem. We are relying too much upon government and machines to do what we should do for ourselves. Solutions aren't possible if some government officials are going to stand in the way for the sake of their own sense of importance and relevance. The only real relevance here is whether or not the public is going to say enough already, and vote the bums out. That is, if the government hasn't destroyed that possibility too.

Julie Kelly: America deserves the truth

Three Years Later, the American People Deserve the Truth About MAL Raid by Julie Kelly

The iconic photo, now exposed as a stunt, is only one part of the lie behind the extension of the Russiagate hoax and scheme to destroy the president in classified documents case.

Democrats would lose 6 seats if there was no gerrymandering

Can't embed this post, so I'll link to it. Question: if you going to have a tweet button, then why not let it be embedded? Doesn't make sense.

New Photonic chips

The world is going to change, and as for myself, I'm not ready for it. It might get a bit hairy.

For a company that is supposedly fast, SpaceX has a lot of delays

SpaceX is going to re-do their recent static fire

Rapid iteration. Rapid re-use. The word "rapid" gets used a lot in SpaceX's lingo. But are they as fast as they could be?

Perhaps they are, but the delays due to what looks like mistakes unravels the image a bit.

If SpaceX tested their COPV's before loading it up with explosive fuel mixtures, then maybe they don't blow up Masseys. If they don't blow up Masseys, then they launch over a month ago ( maybe two the way they're going).

The recent static fire seemed to go well, then they started tearing down the modifications made because of Masseys' destruction. They need to remove the mods so that they can stack and launch the thing. But no! After taking down the mods, they find something wrong with the static fire. Now they have to assemble the thing all over again. This is a loss of time. The question is: can these delays be avoided? Was it possible to vet the data before okaying the removal of the modifications?

I had this thought before way back last year when they re-did the heat shield. The heat shield was ready, but the decision was made to re-install a new heat shield. Again, this kind of thing may be unavoidable, but on the other hand, is that really the case?

You don't want to go too fast, as haste makes waste. It requires some sort of balance, it would seem. Perhaps they cannot go any faster, but it really does seem like at least some of it could be streamlined a bit.

Hydrogen fuel cells for aviation

Isn't hydrogen production a bit iffy still? It won't ever make sense economically, even if it is a technological marvel.

FIB:Seth Rich's murder could have been for hire

8/4/25:

So what about the murder of Seth Rich?

12/21/23: Update to the post of 4/26/21:

Ah, the state run media complex will report it as a "conspiracy theory". Fake news, fake everything. When do the lies end? There was no Russian hack. The robbery claim looks like a cover-up. What really happened? Inquiring minds want to know.

Note: there's a link to an OAN article down below in the original post. That link appears to have been taken down. Why? Who knows?

end update:

the original post follows below:

Yeah and they could be worth a shit too, but they aren't.

Gov Abbot can declare fleeing Texas legislators' jobs "vacant"

If he did that aggressively, the Democrats could be up the infamous crick in a hurry. The GOP legislators would have no opposition! They could do ANYTHING! I say go for it, Abbot.

Angry Astronaut

He takes his usual critical view of Starship. After all of the trouble SpaceX has had this year, his negativity seems to be more than just carping.

Angry seems to be worried about timelines. Also, he seems to be worried about China. China is just trying to be what America used to be. As for America, it seems intent upon becoming something third or fourth rate, as if that were a great thing.

Everybody has an opinion, so here's mine. The Starship isn't any good for going anywhere. It is best used to deliver 200 tons to low Earth orbit, so that it can be used to build things in low Earth orbit. These things could be the kind of things that can get us anywhere, including to the nearest star.

But there's no vision for space, so these things won't be done. About all Musk will succeed in doing, if he succeeds at all, is to build a huge rocket to nowhere. Who's going to go on a suicide trip to Mars? He may be able to send his robots there. Maybe his robots can build a facility on Mars for people. Then maybe he could land some people there who won't die immediately. Maybe they'll live long enough to decide for the rest of us what a crappy place to colonize Mars is! I don't understand the fascination with Mars, but if people really want to go there, maybe someone will go there some day.

But to do something serious on Mars will require something better than what Starship will ever be. Just my opinion.

Lite posting--- nothing going on

No posts yesterday. It doesn't happen that often, but sometimes it does. There was no reason, other than the thought of blogging did not occur to me yesterday.

Seems that I was busy with a problem with the solar panels. But that doesn't explain everything. Seems that there wasn't anything that I wanted to blog about.

One thing I might mention is that I was just now thinking of what makes people tick. It's a fascinating subject. But too deep for me. I have enough troubles of my own, than to try to figure out why people act the way that they do.

P.S.

Here's another instance in which I try to embed a tweet, and is blocked somehow by X. What's up with that anyway? X doesn't want you to criticize the government for some reason? One of the things I did yesterday was related to World War Two. It does appear that we are drifting towards that now. Could it be that there are those in the government that are pushing us in that direction? It's a fair question, I would think.
