Outstanding

What struck me about this presentation was the incredible investment that the mad mullahs made in trying to dominate the world.

People whine about a little inconvience with higher oil prices. If Iran had gotten nukes, they could've threaten everybody who opposed them, and they could've controlled the Strait with a nuclear gun.

Trump has done a great thing. We have dodged a bullet. The world is better off. Not that he will get any thanks for it. But those in the know will know better.

A truth social embed

A wager here. How many people actually pay enough attention to what's going on in this country, know their history, who could watch this and say that there's something wrong with it? Trump amplified it here by posted it on Truth Social. Good reason to hate them both???

Mark Levin seems like a good guy to me. Just sayin'. There's a strong movement out there to stir up as much Trump hatred and hatred of Jews that seems scandalous. Hard to believe how much rage porn on social media sites sometimes. But here's a reasoned argument. We need more of this, not the rage porn.

What kind of church permits this???

The Catholic Church. Meanwhile, Trump at least tried to help the Nigerians who were being slaughtered. What did the "Pope" do about that?

GOP still doesn't know how to fight the Dems

4/18/26:

Here's the James Carville quote I was looking for

4/17/26:

James Carville is on the warpath. But he advises the Dems to stay quiet about their intentions. So, let's get this straight. The Dems are running on "Democracy", but want to use their power to make sure that you will always get Democrats forever more. Sounds like Democracy to me! /sarc

Sorry about the lack of a link to Carville reference. He has a wish list for the Democrats to enact --- 1) packing the Supreme Court with liberals 2) adding DC and Puerto Rico as states for starters. But he advises the Dems to not run on it. It might make them look too power hungry. Yep, the Dems sure LOVE democracy! /sarc (If I can find the link again, I'll update...)

You can warn people about these commies, but if people don't heed the warning, the commies will absolutely take over. You can absolutely count on that.

4/16/26:

That's something that David Horowitz used to say. Horowitz himself had been a "red diaper baby", so he knew what the Democrats really were, and what needed to be done to fight them.

Given that, I can segue into a short spiel about AOC. What she said in that recent video was the kind of tactics that Horowitz knew about, and was warning about.

AOC mentioned the "convictions" as if it was the gold standard of proof. It is decidedly not that. It is likely to be appealed successfully eventually, but in the meantime, the fact of its existence makes it good propaganda material that can be used against Trump. Indeed, that is what the whole trial was FOR. The left doesn't respect the legal system, nor any part of the law. The law is being used in a political fashion. It is not intended to be just, nor fair. Indeed, it is the very opposite of those things.

The objective is to defeat your opponent by any means necessary. That phrase comes from leftist origins and should always be noted. The left is using that phrase AGAIN. This may mean things such as Lawfare and Assassination. It may be things such as phony impeachments and phony investigations, such as the Russian collusion hoax.  Keep in mind that some of them idolized Luigi Mangione.  Some of them expressed regret that the assassination of Trump didn't succeed.

The wheels of justice turn rather slowly compared to politics. By the time that justice catches up, the politics will have moved on. That is something that the GOP doesn't seem to grasp very well. They continue to allow the Democrats ( now commies ) to get traction with their phony lawfare and so forth, and by the time things get repaired in the justice system, the damage has already been done POLITICALLY.

The GOP cannot allow that to happen. But it still happens, as it happened before. AOC is still trying to pull that stunt, and Trump is trying to do something about that. It would help if the GOP united firmly on that point, because if they don't, there won't be much left of the GOP to fight back against the commies because the WAR would have been lost for good.

When the commies win, they don't give up without bloodshed. Keep that in mind, because the long term does not bode well if this kind of thing isn't remedied and SOON.

Nick Fuentes sounds like a hysterical woman

Is Nick Fuentes a man? Maybe "he's" a tranny. Is this is the EI stuff mentioned earlier?

Also, take a look at how much they sound the same. Opposite sides of the spectrum? What kind of spectrum is that?

Stupid smart people

Can people be smart and stupid at the same time? It wouldn't be the first time I heard an idea like this. Bongino talked about this at one time. Also, the theory about stupid people being dangerous fits this. There well may be a way to be stupid and smart at the same time. Check out the link.

Making Collyfornia safe for fraud, aka 'Stop Nick Shirley Act'

Maybe people in this country will finally wake the f!!! up, and throw these scumbags out. But I won't bet the farm on it. Hope springs eternal, though. There's always hope that people will finally see what they need to see. Trouble is, there's a lot of folks out there who want to make sure that you never wake up. Hence this bill from the land of fruits and nuts.

Time stamped the Nick Shirley Act commentary @ 8:30

This video propounds a theory about women that I didn't address, but this video by AOC reminded me of it. Could this video by AOC be an example of what he was talking about?

Time stamped the women commentary @ 14:30 "chick thing" and "EI". In other words, this kind of stuff comes from women. That kind of thing usually brought some more bad stuff down on your head, like "misogyny" accusations. Just putting it out there, not necessarily commenting upon myself. Not yet, anyway.

Owens v. Kirk

4/12/26:

The fur is a-flyin', and I'm just a laughin'.

Alex Jones? That Fuentes guy? MTG? No worries, mate...

4/15/26, Update:

More on Alex Jones here. Alex Jones is a kook. Check into it. No bout a doubt it.

Update:

Tucker Carlson? He makes an allegation... where's his evidence??? It's not enough just to make a charge. You have to back it up.

Update, 4/15/26:: Checking out Tucker Carlson reveals this. Not good for Tucker.

4/11/26:

Trump distances himself from a group of what is called "influencers".

Owens had a reply on Twitter, which won't be embedded here. She's clearly anti-Trump now.

Quick update! Blogger blocks Truth!? It's been awhile since I last embedded a Truth Social post. Censorship is not good, ya'll.

Update two:

Google owns Blogger, which is the platform for this blog. Blogger also owns YouTube, which does not block itself, I judge. There's a YouTube video of Owen's response to the Trump post. After watching some of it on YouTube, I don't think it worthy to link to, nor to embed. But it is there, and that is worth noting here. So I have noted...

Now Trump's Truth is working! Well, bless my soul...

2/25/26:

There hasn't been much on the brouhaha going on with the widow of Charlie Kirk and one Candace Owens.

But there wasn't anything about Charlie Kirk here while he was still alive.  Not on my radar.  Not much on Owens either, but there are a few posts about her.

So I've stayed clear of this too.  Actually, the whole thing doesn't make a helluva lot of sense.  It is a tempest in a teapot.

One thing that I DID get.  I went to Grokipedia, since I stopped going to Wikipedia, and took a look at some of what that site had to say about Erika Kirk.

One of my pet peeves came up about "far-right" politics, and that made me feel pretty bad about the state our country is in.

It is little wonder then, that the political left calls their opponents "fascists" since they (meaning the so-called "right") love to attach that terminology to themselves all the time.

Folks who claim to be on the right don't have a clue about what they're doing. That includes a whole lot of miscalled thought leaders.  For if you do not know who you are, you have at best a 50-50 chance of winning any fight.  That, according to Sun Tzu on the "Art of War".

Check out history, and if you do check anything at all, then any association with "right-wing" and conservatism in America should repulse you as much as it does myself.

If there's anyone in politics that emulates Nazism and Fascism, it is the leftists themselves.  The last thing you'd be if you were a true conservative would be to embrace Fascism.  It is the height of either ignorance or malevolence to believe otherwise.

People need to get a clue.  You cannot win if you concede the fight before you even start.   Erika Kirk a Nazi?  Puhleeze...

Italian PM has the sads that Trump being critical of the "Pope"

But the "shepherd" of the flock says nothing about his own sheep being murdered by the wolves of this world.

I was looking for the scene in the movie, but couldn't find it. That movie was on Tubi; as in the movie, Jesus spoke through a child to Peter, and Peter turned back and returned to Rome...

Update on this paragraph:

I assumed some details were in the New Testament, but actually were not. My bad. Some of the material was possibly derived from the apocryphals, and not a part of official canon. How embarrassing.

Understanding the PetroDollar

The thought about high oil prices and inflation does not jibe with Milton Friedman's theories about money. That is, it doesn't until you consider the petrodollar. Then it starts to make more sense.

That means the current high prices for oil won't cause inflation. It will cause the reverse. Less money means high "interest" rates. The price of oil works like interest rates. If interest rates are high, economic output drops. That means recession.

The statistics show a higher rate of inflation, but not all of the stats showed that. If you count "core" inflation, the prices didn't go up. That means aside from oil prices, the inflation rate did not go up. Eventually, the rest of the price structure will fall even while oil prices stay relatively high.

That would be true if oil is acting like a currency. Check back later to see if that is true.

Some folks just can't be happy

There was a tweet about how all the oil tankers are coming to the USA, since the Hormuz Strait got tied up in knots.

The tweet seemed to reveal something that illustrates the ignorance of people about the significance of things. Well, this blog is here to help. You see, for the longest time, there was a disincentive to drill for our own oil. So policies changed, and whaddaya know? More oil. But there's a problem. While pumping oil is great, we cannot REFINE it. It couldn't be refined and it couldn't be sold overseas. Again, a policy adjustment ensued, and whaddaya know? More oil got produced because the oil producers could sell their oil. Funny how that works. When the government lets you sell your product, more gets produced. It's a beautiful thing, as Limbaugh used to say.

I jipped the video at this point so that you will know that I'm not making this stuff up.

This video doesn't come to the obvious conclusion that you should BUILD MORE REFINERIES. The premise of CLIMATE CHANGE is bunk. Oil companies won't build the refineries because the risk from the environmentalist wing may make that a costly mistake. So we import the "sour" crude, as opposed to refining our own "sweet" crude.

Hopefully that clarifies the matter. But who knows? You can draw all the pretty pictures you want, but if nobody cares about the truth, nothing will change.

If you're going to complain about high prices, then quit bitching about CLIMATE CHANGE. duh

Morality who needs it?

There is an economics term called "the commons". This is distinguished from "private property". The capitalist theory holds that socialism doesn't work because nobody really cares about the commons; but if somebody owns it, then they'll care about it.

Perhaps one can expand upon that beyond the economic sphere. Let's take religion. Religion concerns itself with morality, does it not? But nobody cares about morality except for the people who own it. That would be the clergy. Got that?

There will be objections to that, of course. Christianity teaches that the "good sheperd" takes care of the sheep. The sheep meaning the followers of the religion. Therefore, according to the theory propounded above, the clergy only cares about the sheep because they "own" the sheep. Once again, there are those who would object, but isn't that really the case? Who would care about the sheep but its owners?

The good shepherd will guard his flock with his own life. The same is true of private property, is it not?

Once again, there will be objections. There's always objections. This is a working theory. Maybe it isn't the best possible one, but it one that provide a working model for an idea.

Morality is the commons like land is, or any other good thing. Morality is a good thing because it gives predictability to human relations. For example, the common good isn't advanced if there's no enforcement for murder, theft, and so forth. If these behaviors aren't punished, there will be anarchy. Of course there are those for which anarchy would be a good thing, and those people benefit from the anarchy. Consequently, it can be said that they own it.

Furthermore, if anything is a good thing that most people would want, it would be best to have someone in charge of it.

Most people would say that law and order is a good thing. Only the criminal class likes anarchy.

Who would benefit from law and order? Why the government, of course. An anarchy doesn't go with law and order. Therefore law enforcement will "own" orderliness in a society.

Consequently, if you want good things for everybody (in the commons), then you'd better put somebody in charge of it.

If nobody is in charge of it, then the law of the jungle will apply. Nature really does abhor a vacuum. If there's no morality, then the amoral will benefit. If there's no law and order, the criminal class will dominate. In a so-called democracy, if the people want law and order, then that is what they'll get. If people want to be amoral monsters, then that's is what they'll get too.

How do you determine what the people want? Why an election, of course. I think the conclusion follows. But of course there will be objections to that. There always is.

The Shroud of Turin

4/8/26:

Have you seen those type of videos that take a picture or sculpture, and turn it into a life-like depiction of that person? This is a documentary of that endeavor with respect to the Shroud of Turin.

From the video's description section:
A team of graphic experts use cutting-edge software to bring the Shroud of Turin to life.

3/15/26:

A genetic analysis results in anomalous results. In other words, a satisfactory explanation for the cloth still does not exist. But the evidence does show that it is not a forgery.

4/4/21:

The first I heard of it was way back in the early eighties, if memory serves. There was a guy today on the internet who was claiming the Shroud is a fake.

One could argue the point, I suppose. If I were to argue, it would be along the lines that nobody knows how such an object could have come into being. You can claim it is a fraud based upon certain tests, but how do you explain its very existence?

The technology to reproduce the relic still doesn't exist, if I am not mistaken. Once that is figured out, maybe there would be a cause for claiming fraud. Or there wouldn't be. The next question is if you reproduce it today, how did somebody in the middle ages fake this, and why?

Find an answer for that one.

How the LOTR Gollum character was created for the screen

High praise for the actor in this video.

Anti-matter, does it matter?

4/8/26:

Why make it if you can mine it instead?

12/21/24:

17:45:

It should be obvious that I am really enthusiastic about this concept. Indeed, it may be THE way to go for the Space program. If NASA wants a new direction, this could be it. But there's a danger here.

The danger is that the public may think that this is "too far out there". The danger is from a lack of understanding, in my opinion. To me, the reason this works is that it can give a return on the investment of the taxpayer's money. Other measures are too much in the nature of half-measures, and may well result in the abandonment of great enterprises like this one could be. Half-measures only result in another boondoggle that has to be supported by the taxpayer. But THIS could result in a new source of revenue for the government that puts the space program on a self-funding basis and then some.

The advantage to the use of anti-matter is that it overcomes a lot of the tyranny of the rocket equation. It ends the necessity of super large rockets and the needs for large amounts of fuel. A mere nanogram of the stuff can send you on your way to Mars. A couple of nanograms can put you into orbit. Yet another nanogram can send you into a landing entry. Three nano-grams is hardly anything compared to what could be gathered up on Saturn. Therefore a means of traversing that distance, and many other places, could be opened up.

In short, it could open up the solar system to development. The returns could be mind-boggling. All that is required is the will to do it. Does that will exist? We'll see. The future will depend upon it. No if and nor buts about it. It's go big or go home time.

10 AM:

The best plan for using this was suggested. That plan would be to pick up enough anti-matter for a visit to Saturn, and use Saturn to do more mining. That's because the refill rate for the anti-matter on Earth is too slow. Saturn has the richest deposits. No worries about getting to Saturn if you have this stuff, and no worries getting back. The difference is that you'll have more than enough for all kinds of missions if you do it that way. Otherwise, you'll be too limited. The length of the mission could be shortened because of the power of the anti-matter makes high delta-v missions feasible, hence you should want that, and Saturn is where you can get it.

12/20/24:

Before my computer decided to take a dump, I was checking out something about the Van Allen belts. The idea was to collect propellant from these belts, if feasible. It seems that there was a write up about that, and I was checking it out, then boom.

It seems that there's a possibility of retrieving anti-matter in the Van Allen belts. How interesting. Anyway, anti-matter propulsion is far more powerful than even nuclear power. It may be feasible to travel to the nearest star with this stuff. Just another possibility that might be opening up, ya'll.

Yes, it does matter.  Maybe a lot.

This would enable missions to Mars in 45 days. This study wasn't done by amateurs, ya'll.

A Few Good Men- 1992 Film

How should this film be taken?

It has been given good reviews generally speaking.

The crux of the story is this: "how do you hold the powerful to accountability"?

Does it sound familiar?

It should. It seems that the political system protects itself against accountability. However, the system doesn't really do that, if the system is poorly served by those who violate their oaths. A system is as good as the people who run it. In the times of Kings, it was said that the King could do no wrong. Authority doesn't take kindly to being questioned. Indeed, it cannot be and have authority maintained. Yet, somehow authority must be held to account, or there will be tyranny. A republic of laws is no different. If the laws are not observed, then how is it any different from a King? Such is how the film could be taken-- it is a comment upon our ways of governing ourselves.

Some may take this as critical of Trump. There could be a valid complaint, but Trump really isn't the issue. The problem is systemic. If Trump isn't held accountable, it isn't unique to himself. There IS no accountability at all in Washington DC. The system won't allow itself to be policed.

In theory, there is Congress as the ultimate arbiter. Congress is accountable to the people, in theory. But Congress won't pass the SAVE act, which would at least bring the possibility of political accountability. If the elections were honest, the system can be policed by the people at the ballot box. But if the ballot box is corrupted, then how can there be any accountability anywhere in the system? The Congress is the political body closest to the people---especially the House of Representatives.

But the House passed the bill, the Senate won't. Note that among the politically accountable branches of the government, the Senate is the least accountable. This is by design. However, that design was changed from being accountable to the legislatures of the various states to the people in the various states. This was done by Constitutional amendment during the Progressive Era. It didn't make more accountable, but less.

If the state legislatures cannot be trusted to police the Senate, then who? This is a problem that has to be worked out.

The movie required a performance from an attorney to get the desired justice. It would seem that the legal system requires a performance in order to make a judgement, according to the views expressed during the movie.

Movies and theaters cannot determine accountability. It is entertainment, not justice. It isn't politics either. It's no way to run a republic.

That leaves us with the President and the Courts. The Courts aren't elected offices. The President is elected by the STATES. The states can be governed by the Courts. But the President appoints the members of the Court. The Senate confirms the choices. The system cannot be policed by the people.

If the system won't police itself, you've got a problem. So here we are. Perhaps there won't be a happy ending. This isn't Hollywood.

Bongino is like Rush Limbaugh in one respect. There's still a tremendous amount of bias out there. Limbaugh liked to call himself "equal time". Like Limbaugh, Bongino is equal time. There's way too much anti-Trump propaganda out there. Bongino gives a different point of view. I'm glad he's there. As for this episode, I don't have time to look it all over. The Outer Limits --- The Soldier

4/1/26:

Just watched another Outer Limits episode, called Demon with a Glass Hand. Now I am pretty sure why the law suit had to be settled. There's just too many ideas that made it into The Terminator script for it not to be a rip-off. You have to watch it to see. It's on Tubi, season 2, episode 5. The clincher is at the very end of the episode. So watch it all.

3/21/26:

The episode is about a soldier from the future. This soldier has no knowledge of anything except how to be a soldier. He comes back to Earth in the sixties, and he is out of place. He is misunderstood, and he doesn't understand this new world he finds himself in.

The striking thing is the resemblance to the Terminator movie, with the obvious differences. There was a lawsuit that was settled in order for the film to be shown in theaters.

In that future world, nothing is known but war. The question that is left is this: Is this our future?

One of the ideas of civilization is to resolve disputes without the need of violence. If no way can be found to resolve disputes, how can violence be averted? That appears to be the point... What happens when no agreement is possible?

In that case, something has to give.

If neither side of the dispute wants to give, then how can violence be averted?

When it cannot, there can be no civilization.

This video discusses the similarities/differences of this story and the movie The Terminator.

If you ax me, the Outer Limits isn't the only idea that Terminator stole. There was this movie in the sixties in which a computer system took over the world, just like in the Terminator. It didn't have cyborgs, though. At least the Terminator may have had one original idea.

I cannot find that computer takes over the world movie again. It might have been a made for TV movie. If memory serves, it may be this one.

The opposition to the Iran conflict is wrong

It is wrong because this is good for us. The political left is reflexively against anything at all that benefits the USA.

Higher gas prices are good for the USA?

This is about the only objection that they can bring up that is actually valid. However, the left doesn't even care about higher prices for oil. If they had their way, all the oil production would be forced to stop. So their criticism isn't based upon concern about high prices.

What's good about the war? If successful, there won't be a nuclear armed thug state based upon radical Islam. This seems like a pretty good deal for us.

Keep in mind that Iran could've blocked the Strait of Hormuz at any time they chose. If we allowed them to develop a sophisticated means of using oil as blackmail against us, then why wouldn't it be a good idea to end that?

If Iran had nukes, they'd be far more troublesome than they are now. Why allow them to do that?

A pet peeve of mine is to refer to certain members of the GOP as "far right". Not only do the leftists like to do that, for some strange reason, those who oppose them refer to themselves as "on the right". This is self-defeating. Those who do that are using premises that are derived from communism.

I've gone over that a lot of times. It shouldn't need further explanation. If you accept the premises of your opponent, you've already lost the argument. Why do that? But so many of the opponents of the left describe themselves as being "on the right". Well, I tell you what. I'm not "on the right". But that doesn't make me a NAZI. I'm anti-NAZI. I'm more anti-Fascist that the so-called anti-fascists. The bunch that call themselves antifascist are just communists, which is not hardly much different than NAZIS anyway. Even Adolf Hitler said that much.

There's a lot of confusion out there. Hopefully this can help clear some cobwebs in a few heads out there.

But I'm not holding my breath. There is one thing for certain--- there's a lot of intention out there to deceive as many people as possible. If you don't want to be deceived, then think for yourselves.

You might reply, "but I am". Maybe you are, but you can always try harder.

Valuable book!

3/30/26:

There is a documentary on Tubi that is much like the book. But the book seems always better than the movie, or a documentary. Nevertheless, the series on teevee is sobering to look at considering where we have been in history, and where we are now. It looks like things really haven't changed much in Moscow from the Soviet times.

That said, I DO NOT ENDORSE THE TUBI DOCUMENTARY. The reason for that disclaimer is that the latter part of the third in the series tries to sell the Russian interference garbage in the 2016 election. One reason for the vehemence of my opposition to that fraud is that the FBI at that time violated many lawful procedures FROM THE BEGINNING. In other words, anybody who watched this story from the beginning should've seen that something was up. I DID AND IT IS DOCUMENTED ON THIS BLOG.

It should be stated further that up until that point, the documentary could legitimately be called a documentary. But since they started aping the Russian collusion garbage, they pretty much jumped the shark with respect to their credibility. This is not to endorse the Russians in any way. It is only that we have OUR OWN PROBLEMS RIGHT HERE. One of them is that one of the parties, or perhaps both, are not on the same page with the rule of law and democracy. One of them is playing a hard game of trying to pretend to be, and that would be the democrats. The republicans? At least some of them are no better than democrats, hence the term RINO.

11/24/23:

November 24th, 2023: Update to last update of 10/14/23:

He seems to not know why Drudge went pinko

If you read this book, you would have some insight to what may have happened. I heard some rumblings that Drudge is a homosexual. The KGB loved to use homosexuals. They knew something about homosexuals, which made them prime targets for espionage.

The book has a number of real life stories about the KGB. One of them involved one of the biggest espionage coups of the Cold War. It was in that chapter in which the reasons for the KGB's interest in homseoxuals for espionage, was explained.

If you have that insight, then this business with Drudge would be no mystery. Drudge was exploited, and the homosexuality angle was undoubtedly the means of attacking him. I'd bet on it if I were a gambling man.

end update:

Oct 14, 2023: Update of post written on 7/9/21:

The book is still highly priced, but there doesn't seem to be one that was off-the-charts-high anymore. Perhaps it was a signed copy, or was valuable for some unspecified reason... There is always the possibility of a different explanation... Just saying that there could be reason that I got something wrong.

The reason for this post is the recent terrorist event in Israel. Some of the reaction to it reminded me of what happened on 9/11/2001 in this country. People were blaming Bush for "letting it happen". I didn't believe it back then, but today? Who knows? In a sense, the elites in this country did in fact "let it happen" because of their open border policies. Anybody could get into this country and commit a horrific terrorist attack like that. That's true today, too.

There was a time in this country when a KGB spy disguised as an American could not get past the FBI for a single day. The story of that is in this book. I wrote about the spy who flipped, one Kaarlo Tuomi, in another post.

This is one reason I support Donald Trump. He's the first to make it his goal to build a wall on the southern border. Here is something that should have been done all along, and the border was secure until 1965, until one Senator Edward Kennedy got new immigration laws passed. We might as well not have any border at all now.

The Israelis have a wall. It didn't stop this. However, imagine their situation if they didn't have a wall. Besides, any wall could be overcome if the will existed to do so. Also, the reverse is true. If there was the will to defend the border, the border would be defended. This crew won't defend our borders, nor anything else that matters about the country.

Why did it happen in Israel? Who knows? But Netanyahu has had his troubles with the opposition over there. Just like Trump has had over here. I am not so sure about anything being said right now, no matter who says it---with respect to the Israeli leader. I've seen a lot of unjust crap being hurled at Trump lately too.

The question should be asked is this: does the leader have the will to defend the country? I think Netanyahu does. I think Trump does too. As for the Democrats, I am convinced that they could not care less for Israel nor the USA.

This may sound partisan, and to a certain extent it may well be, but the Democrats have latched on to some pretty exotic stuff this last 15 years. One thing is certain, the communists wanted to conquer the USA, and it looks like they are close to doing it. It seems mighty strange to have a large contingent of the GOP helping them to do it.

end update:

The Secret Work of Soviet Secret Agents by John Barron (1974)

The last post reminded me of this book, so I looked it up on Amazon. Incredible prices! A mass marketed paperback going for $69! A paperback version over a grand! Wow!

Yours truly read this book. It shaped my thoughts about the former Soviet Union that they would have such a thing in their country. When I write that the "Evil Empire" has moved to Washington DC, it is largely because I see the same kind of thing that was happening during the Cold War. It is now happening right here in the once "Good 'ol USA".

Why would this book be so valuable? Could some entity out there trying to take it off the market? It would not surprise me! Everything imaginable is being done to suppress truth from being found that something like that happening wouldn't be out of the question.

No way that this book would be worth this much unless something was going on.

Getting to the core of the matter

It is significant for two reasons: 1) those who protect the system as is have something to lose and they know it, and 2) it is definitely not for democracy that they won't pass this bill. Indeed, it is against democracy and the rule of law to NOT pass it. The bill is the only credible way to insure honest elections, but the majority in the Senate does not want honest elections.

What A Fool Believes -- The Doobie Brothers

Casting about for something to write about. While doing so, I came across this song on the YouTube.

The song's lyrics reminded me of something, so I looked for some info about the song on the Wikipedia. What inspired the song doesn't match with what I was thinking of.

And what was that?

It was the Great Gatsy. If you aren't familiar with that novel and/or this song-- study them, and see for yourself if you agree.

The quick way would be to watch a remake of the film. But those may not be accurate enough. Perhaps the novel would be best, but if you aren't patient enough, watch the movie.

Here's the song and lyrics.

And the movie, which is inferior to the book, imo:

Instapundit: "Remarkably consistent"

Iran has been remarkably consistent too, in case anybody is interested. They were saying "Death to America" then, and every day since their so-called revolution.

We shouldn't have been so passive in the face of this consistent provocation. We will pay the price at some point, and that time may well be right now.

The political left has been remarkably consistent too. They hate America too. Unfortunately, many of them are bonafide citizens. That's a problem.

Green Acres

3/28/26:

There was a lot more to this show than I remembered. The video says that it was a reaction to Vietnam. That seems far-fetched, but when you consider one of Oliver Douglas' patriotic speeches, the satire seems rather biting.

8/23/20:

That guy in this next video is making the speech that seems kinda familiar....

Epistemology

3/28/26:

Another update here may run a risk of getting too deep into the weeds. The point may be this: How do you know what you know? This is pretty tricky stuff.

You can say that you "know it in your bones". Yet, does that make it true?

It gets too deep in the weeds because you can fall into a trap of believing that there is no such thing as truth. Then you will be a postmodernist. As for me, I'm not going there.

In the end, you have to decide it for yourself. Maybe this will be the last word on that subject. But there's always of the possibility of changing one's mind. And so it goes...

5/24/25:

Ah, back again with more thoughts on this subject of knowledge. I was thinking about trusting what you hear from someone. If someone tells you something, and you trust that person to be reliable, then you believe that person. However, if that person lies to you, you will remember it the next time, and you will be on guard about what this person says. You will not so readily believe someone who has fooled you before.

A society can be built on trust, or it will not be built on trust. If it isn't built on trust, it cannot be much of a society. Think about that for a moment. Commerce depends upon trust. You have to trust so many things to go right when you do transactions with people. A used car salesman may have some trust issues. If you've been burned before by a bad deal on a car, especially when you dealt with a certain individual, would you go back to that individual again when you want to buy a car? Most likely not, unless you enjoy the contest. Some folks might like the contest, but generally you avoid people who cheat you do you not?

I was thinking about this with regard to the news media. Indeed, all of this society depends upon institutions that deal with us fairly, or unfairly. When trust breaks down, the perception is that we are not being dealt with fairly. In such a scenario, a society could find itself in a lot of trouble. Trust is necessary for a society to operate smoothly or in good order.

A criminal can take advantage of your trust. That's why crime needs to be punished. If crime isn't punished, overall trust in our system of justice will be harmed. So what am I getting at? Just that the truth is needed for trust, and that trust is needed for harmony in society. If you want that, then you need to hold the truth as important. Why then is that not obvious? Why does it need to be said?

Just because somebody in authority says something doesn't make it so. That happens too often for me to believe what I hear. That's why it needs to be said. It isn't just me saying it, you know.

12/6/24:

Just saw another documentary on Tubi, and this post came to mind. On a search for it on my own blog, there's another one that has gotten a lot of pageviews. Even more than this one. It is here.

10/29/22: Epistemology

Epistemology: The study of knowledge

Or another way of saying it is "how you know what you know".

I come from a place where we can argue about anything, and often do. The arguments could get downright contentious, and so I have done my best to try to avoid them. But people really can argue about ANYTHING. Even the study of knowledge itself. If you cannot agree upon something, it is hard to get anywhere at all in an argument. The arguments can often get emotional because one's ego gets attached. That's a mistake. If one truly loves knowledge, then one does not fall in love with one's own pet theories. A theory is just a theory. Hopefully, that statement wouldn't start an argument somewhere, but where I came from, it COULD.

Even in a fight, there has to be rules. Even if the rules are the rules of the jungle. The jungle has it own rules. He who is biggest, strongest, and toughest will likely win. But, if there is to be a civilization, then the rules can be set up in advance, and everybody is expected to follow them. What happens when somebody doesn't follow the rules? That person is likely to be punished. The same can be true for epistemology. It is a rules-based system of determining what is knowledge, and what isn't. If you get into an argument, there has to be a rules-based system to determines who is right, and who is wrong.

However, if you cannot agree on the rules, then you've got a problem.

What happens when you cannot decide on issues, and not even the rules that determine who is right and who is wrong? You get anarchy. You get the law of the jungle. If you are right, and you are weak, then you might as well be wrong for all the good it will do you. Nobody has any rights in the jungle. There is no law and order in the jungle. It is a matter of who is the smartest, strongest, and maybe the meanest --- who will win any controversy.

There has to be a set of rules. There has to be laws. People have to be willing to follow these. If not, then there can be no order. Starting with this, you have to have some type of agreement on what the rules are, and the willingness to follow them.

The reason I wrote this is that this society cannot agree upon the most basic things. Like the meanings of words. The meaning of anything. Everything is in contention. If we cannot agree upon the most basic things, then how can we go forward? I used this word because it can be a start in trying to end arguments that lead nowhere because the rules cannot be agreed upon, and the very meaning of words themselves cannot be agreed upon. You can start with the theory of knowledge. How do you know what you know? If you cannot agree upon that much, then what's the point?

Winning the battles, losing the wars -- Part 4

It went kinetic with the Iran War.

In post war geopolitics, the USA has stopped declaring wars, and has engaged in limited wars of supposedly limited duration. All the while, it sought to win it by not disturbing the fragile world order.

The fragility was more obvious during the Cold War Era. It is not as obvious now, as it is more economic than military. Not that military force could flash into a major world war, but any such war could result in a nuclear exchange. Hence the limited and supposedly short durations within a fragile context. That part remains unchanged.

Has Trump blundered into another Vietnam scenario that he vehemently criticized? The US stopped winning its wars, he said. But what if this latest war does the same thing as Korea, Vietnam, and the War on Terror did? In all of these wars, the USA won its battles, but seemed to lose the war.

The big problem for Trump now is to get out of the war he started. He has to get out with some sort of victory, or he will have delivered yet another losing war.

I don't want to be negative here, but there seems to have been a few hiccups in this plan here already. The war is already 3+ weeks old, and he said that it would be over in 4. The Strait of Hormuz has to be opened, or this thing will go on for a long time. As for the knock-on effects of the closure of the Strait, these are already guaranteed to last for months into the future. This will have a political cost associated with it. He has rolled a pretty big pair of dice, you could say.

No more Lunar Gateway

Not many tears will be shed over the "loss". It was a solution seeking a problem for it to solve. In other words, a boondoggle.

House passed SAVE act as a "privileged" status, which means no filibuster allowed

Thune is preventing a majority vote passage of the Save Act in order to protect RINOS who oppose the bill.

Here's a revelation to yours truly. If the House can pass such bills that prevent filibusters, then why can't the GOP majority pass needed bills like this. Sean Davis explains below in on X:

I read a lot of stuff on the web. It wasn't until now that I learned about "privileged" bills from the House. Why is that? That is why I posted this. Perhaps it is not well-known how a small minority can stop the public will from being expressed. Think of it. Just a handful of these people can prevent a bill's passage that has support of close to 80% of the public. And the Democrats are about Democracy??? Hah!

Regulate the corporate media

What can be done about "news" outlets that do not tell the truth?

The truth can be a slippery thing, so what is it? What the truth actually is can actually be debated. But a lie can be defined. A lie is when the truth is known, and something false is substituted knowingly in its place in order to deceive. It is codified in the US Code what fraud is. Fraud is a type of lie. To paraphrase from memory: A fraud is a misrepresentation of fact in order to gain a benefit that would not necessarily be granted.

If news is defined as being "the truth about happenstance", then what passes as news these days is all to often a fraud, imo.

If news is a product, then consumer law protects the public from product fraud. It would seem that the news industry can definitely be regulated, but there is a thing called the First Amendment. But settled law says that the First Amendment protection is not granted to the extent that merchants can defraud their customers. It seems that a lawusuit could be filed against "news" outlets that claim to be delivering the "news" when it is in fact not true. Just sayin'.

The Big Lie

The Grokipedia entry is preferred over the Wikipedia one.

Surely in this day and age, The Big Lie is alive and well. There is no need to concentrate on the Third Reich for examples, it appears everywhere.

The contradictions that exists imply that much. How can it be otherwise?

The country was shutdown over the so-called COVID pandemic. Was it truly a dangerous phenomenon or not? Surely it cannot be both at the same time. Somebody had to be lying, and lying BIG TIME.

Is the USA winning its fight against Iran, or losing? Surely both cannot be true at the same time. It's one or the other, it cannot be both.

Is the shutdown the fault of Democrats or Republicans? It cannot be both. The objective fact lies in the vote. Who's fault is it?

Lies are at the bottom of many evils. Indeed all of them. Satan is the Father of Lies, it says in the Gospels. Trouble is, how is it that such a thing as The Big Lie exist, unless there is something very wrong in the world.

The War Within

This article and another, shows the internal struggle within the Western World. The outcome of that struggle will determine the future. The struggle is between the traditional America versus its opposition.

What is the nature of the opposition? The opposition is fake.

Note how patriotic the left becomes when they are out of power. The fakery is that they are patriotic. They don't care about this country. They want to destroy it. But they want to destroy it from within. So they must fake their patriotism enough in order to fool enough people so that they can have credibility.

For example, the left doesn't oppose executive power on principle. No. They only oppose those who oppose them. The left pretends to be for the rule of law and democracy. But they don't care about either. They are merely using these as means to destroy those very things.

It is the worst war coverage ever because the left doesn't want America to succeed. EVER.

Microsoft sucks

3/20/26:

Microsoft just bricked the machine in this video. He fixes the problem, and it tries to do it again! Avoid Microsoft...

11/23/25:

A problem has arisen.

There may be some who would think that I am being too hasty in my judgement. Let me state what has happened. Then we'll go from there.

I have two computers. One of them is a netbook, the other is this one--a raspberry pi. Linux is preferred because Microsoft has gone rogue, as far as I'm concerned. They are WAY too nosy with their data collection. It's over the top, and so I switched to Linux in the last several months. Since that switch, I've had Linux go out on me three times. The first two times, I figured that it was Linux to blame, but this time, it HAS to be Microsoft.

The bios was messed with. Who could do that but Microsoft? Microsoft shares the netbook with Linux. Linux isn't on the main drive, though. However, when you boot up, some of the boot code is accessible to Microsoft. Well, the bios won't load up the Linux now, and redirects you back to Microsoft.

Could some hacker do this? Maybe. What makes me suspicious in this case is something I saw on a YouTube that says Microsoft tries to bump off any Linux installations if there are operating on the same machine. When I saw this, I realized that somehow the netbook allows the possibility of interference by our good, good friends--Microsoft. Anybody, all three failures could very well have been Microsoft refusing to play nice with Linux.

If Microsoft is innocent here, then it was hackers. But why would hacker direct me back to Microsoft? Only if the hacker is with Microsoft, and Microsoft is actually the hacker. Or they paying hackers to sabotage Linux installations.

At this point, the damage is minimal. I don't know how to recover from this, but I might be able to. Not sure what I need to do though. It is a pain in the ass.

The Big Tech companies, like Microsoft, are out of control. They need to be reined in. This ought to be an anti-trust issue right here. They got no business interfering with people's computers. They don't own this damned machine. They didn't give it to me. It isn't their property. I'M NOT THEIR PROPERTY EITHER.

Soviet Designers Were Horrified When the US Secretly Flew Their Captured MiG's at Area 51

Quote:
In 1968, American pilots were dying in Vietnam, and the Soviet MiG-21 was the king of the skies.

Comment:

This is a revelation. The video claims that these Soviet planes were outfighting the American planes in Vietnam. But thanks to an intelligence coup, the tables were turned.

There are many ways to lose a war. There are also ways to win. Superior intelligence and propaganda can turn advantages into disadvantages, and vice versa. One can never entirely rely upon technology. That's what this video shows. There's a lesson here for anyone who cares to learn from it.

Indeed, there are many lessons.

If you want solutions, look in the mirror

The last new vehicle I bought was back in the early 90's.  At the time, it was a decision based upon choice, not necessity.  Things change, and now it is necessity more than choice.

My experiences are a lot like this guy's says his is.  The difference is that he seems to have found a way to deal with it.

You hear a lot about "affordability" these days.  Could it be that nobody listens anymore?

If there were people who listened, then there would be solutions to problems. Instead of solutions, the prevailing thing is just to make the problems even worse.

There's another video on the suggestion list that says "F88k you, I got mine."  It blames it on boomers for being selfish.  Yeah?  Who ISN'T selfish?  C'mon.  Not that there isn't any validity to the criticism, but calling others selfish is like the pot calling the kettle black.

Nobody listens, nobody gives a sh!t.  If you are dissatisfied, start with yourself.

Looks like it would pass muster with respect to Constitution and precedent as well.

Senators would have to vote against it, which would not go well for them if they did.

Oops! Looks like that is a goof. The reason for that is that there are many ways to delay a bill. The Senate could still work around the problem and defeat the bill with delaying tactics.

A pickup truck isn't the same for all brands

Can't vouch for this video because I haven't bought a new vehicle in decades.

But when I was, I noticed a few things.

What's the best advice for buying a new pickup truck?

Well, if I go by my own experience, NONE!

Sometimes that advice just isn't sufficient. If not, find somebody smart, and talk to 'em.

Don't necessarily count on this video.

The fakery is what grabs me.  Too much of that.  It is every-damned-where.

Texas politics

Just to be 100% clear here: I don't give a rat's ass who Trump endorses.  He can endorse Mickey Mouse if he wants to.  This has no bearing on my vote whatsoever.

If Paxton gets an offer to take over for Bondi, he won't get confirmed.  Gaetz didn't, Paxton won't.  The excuse is Paxton's "baggage".   I take everything these people say with a huge grain of salt.

Paxton gets my vote regardless of what anybody else says, including Trump.  The only ones that this impresses are marginally people anyway.  If you aren't in, you aren't in.

As for Paxton himself, I hope he doesn't do anything exceptionally stupid.  That's the key here.  What does Paxton do?

Depopulation and social control

What I get out of this is that you cannot trust anybody. If the admin goes for control of the population, that is a big no-no.  Keep in mind, they've always done this.  People are controlled by something far simpler than what this refers to.  That is to say, the old TeeVee propaganda networks.  How to fight this?  Support and enable privacy habits of your own, which aren't dependent upon anything that the government does.  Secondly, think for yourselves.  There's plenty of evidence that this is the true weak point.  Strengthen that, and the rest of it is manageable.

The Art of the Donald | The Weekly Standard

3/3/26:

What happened to this guy? According to the Wikipedia, Jay Cost left the Republican party in 2016. Grokipedia didn't have anything handy. Rather than to keep looking there, I went to Wikipedia to get the meager results. Evidently, he has fallen off the edge of the Earth.

Their efforts at sinking the Donald have not worked out for them, or for anybody else, as far as I can tell.

One way of putting this article could be that Trump's beauty only runs skin deep.  His deficiencies are the uglies that run to the bone.

Once the money guys really get hold of him, he will be toast, or so it is believed.

I think there is a human element involved here which is being continually overlooked.  I think anything can and maybe will happen.

One thing to remember:  if Trump isn't the nominee, the GOP can't win.  They need him.

X-BAT

 2/28/26:

The war has come.   For several days now, I've been paying very close attention to this possibility.  I reached a conclusion with this post right here with this post.

I figured either we were ready for this or we weren't.  I made my guess that we probably were about as ready as we were ever going to be.

The outcome will largely be determined by how well this preparation was planned and executed.

Some are calling it regime change.   If it is that, the ground troops will have to be provided by the people of Iran themselves.  If this was misjudged by the brass in charge of the government now, the outcome is not likely to be favorable.

My misgivings are in that direction.  All too often, the US is called upon to do for other people what they should be doing for themselves.  In the meantime, we are slipping up in our own obligations toward ourselves.  We cannot be the saviors for the world.

Fear the worse, hope for the best.  Seems like I've seen that somewhere before. Life goes on until it doesn't.

Affordability? The left doesn't care about this issue either. They CAUSED the problem.

Mortgage rates are falling. This is a big deal.

Here's another one one the issue of affordability--beef prices.

The left would like to destroy beef because of so-called climate change. Why would anyone believe that the left actually gives a rat's ass about beef prices?  To them, the higher the beef prices are, the better.  Afterwards, they could push fake meat and bugs to eat instead of beef.

The fruits of a faulty ideology

Once upon a time, I got into a fierce argument about the difference between communists and fascists.  My position was that there wasn't much difference between the two.  The argument was about that very thing-- that communists and fascists are opposites is a fallacy, in my opinion.

Ideology can make you stupid. As true today as always.

The guy in the embedded tweet has a Nazi tatoo, but also claimed to be a communist.  The conventional thinking is that he cannot possibly be a communist if he has a Nazi tatoo.

Nonsense. Hitler said that the best Nazis were former commies. There's really not much difference at all between the two ideologies. This is a myth.
