The totalitarian left

There is talk about a strategy to prevent Trump from either running for a second term, or serving a second term. This strategy would employ the 14th amendment to the US Constitution.

The chances for success are probably pretty good considering that the trial will be held in DC, which is a rabidly leftist jurisdiction. Trump would have no chance. Not only that, but these people would probably attempt another Star Chamber, which would be one-sided and unfair even in a evenly partisan jurisdiction.

That's why the GOP should shut this down, and to organize a response to it that will strongly deter such an attempt should it occur.

Given the GOP's rather limp history of standing up to the Democrats, the odds are probably against them doing anything UNLESS they get a pretty good scare put into them.

If they aren't scared of the people who tend to vote for them, they OUGHT to be scared of the possibility that the Democrats will be emboldened to set up a veto against ANY GOP candidated that they don't like, and who could win an election against them. In other words, this will neuter any chance of the GOP becomes a viable opposition.

If there's no viable opposition, then there is no political accountability. This is what the Democrats were attempting during their last Congressional session when they still controlled Congress. Only Manchin stopped them from passing a bill that would have done that very thing.

Washington DC is but a small part of this country in terms of population. Imagine just one city being able to control an entire nation. That's what they are attempting to do here.

So much for "Democracy". Not to mention that their case has no merit. They were trying to convince the country that Trump caused an "insurrection" all during that last Congressional session, and they FAILED. Obviously, the country as a whole did not buy their legal theories. Now, with this, only a single jurisdiction will be able to do this on its own. One could argue that "rule of law" is being turned on its head as well.

So what about it, GOP? You may not like Trump, but do you want a one-party state in America?

So what about it, base GOP voter? Are you willing to support the same guys who will give this country over to the totalitarians?

US dollar is kaputski

Conservative Playbook

Why US Dollar is finished

Comment:

And with it will go a lot of other things. But I'm not counting on a happy ending. Too many fairy tales.

Moving right along with the program, are they not?

Hmm, a bonus! Found another video from WAI, Plus. That WAI without Felix Schlang's narration. Just music that accompanies some video.

A battle of the generations

It doesn't totally suck.

Perfect battery?

Does it come with its own unicorn farts?

The problem I have with this is the use of certain terms like "renewable energy". There is no such thing.

It does seem to have some good points. It MAY make solar power make at least a little sense. But it isn't a real solution. Nevertheless, it will be included here, so "enjoy".

An odd request

I've been following Focus Fusion for a number of years. They are getting pretty far along on their path towards completion of the experiments. The experiments will determine if Lerner's methods will work for net energy production from proton-boron fusion.

But why do this at all? What are the motivations? It appears that the motivations are philanthropical in nature. But he is attempting to use market forces to raise money for his experiments. There seems to be a lot of people these days who are down on the profit motive. His appeal is toward philanthropy, but he might have better luck if he used the profit motive a bit more.

Lerner's approach is anti-oil. But why would anybody be interested in his designs when he suggests getting in touch with people with an anti-capitalist bias? He is suggesting getting in touch with GRETA THUNBERG of all people. Here's the problem with these people. They won't invest because they are NOT INTERESTED in technological solutions to technical problems. They really would prefer that people return to a caveman existence.

If they were really interested in "solutions" to the use of hydro-carbons for energy, they'd already know about his work, and they'd support it as a possible solution. The fact that they are not supporters of it already suggests that to enlist these kinds of people will never get what he is seeking.

Lerner is a bit short of his secondary goal of 200k in the Wefunder drive. I invested in it, but not because I am worried about climate change. I am more worried about the types of people like Thunberg, who if successful, will reduce our standard of living drastically. We are told by these types of people that we must sacrifice. But no sacrifice is really necessary. If this works, there will more energy than we could ever use. There would be a radical abundance that would include all people.

But could Lerner make money with this? I'd say so. It wouldn't be good for the energy industry as it is, but that's progress. It would be cheaper, cleaner, and more available. It wouldn't cause resource wars, as everybody would have access to it.

But he is one of those true blue lefty types. I supported his work anyway, but his request to contact people who won't help him anyway is quite strange to me. It might take an unusual person to want to support this, though. Those who hold stocks in conventional energy sources might not welcome this research. But that doesn't include everybody. Yet everybody uses energy. It would seem to be an opportunity out there just waiting for someone. He has to make his appeals to the right people. These kind of people he mentions won't be any good. If it turns into some lefty crusade, I'm going to regret my investment.

Misconceptions About Temperature, Veritasium channel

A man on the street asks a few questions of the people there. How does the book feel in comparison to the hard drive? Hotter or colder?

It's surprising, I'm sure. But what about the Earth? The Earth has a lot of iron in it. Iron in the ground, reacting to an atmosphere. Based upon this, I'd say that it is quite profound in its meaning with respect to climate. Check out the video and see what YOU think.

Don't like being a downer, but this is not good

It's a war out there. Seems like China is up to something, according to Bongino. Also, I saw something this morning about China over fishing in areas to the extent that damage is done to the ecosystems. These ecosystems may never recover. China seems to be a hostile entity. It would be well to remember that they are still loyal to communism, and everything that that means.

Meanwhile, our own government is at war with us. Not only the Democrats, but certain Republicans. There are some Republicans who threaten to jump parties, as if this was a meaningful threat. Since they obviously sympathize with the commies, who have taken over the Democrat party, this country has no defense. That might embolden the Chinese to make aggressive moves.

It's a war of all against all.

The specter of the Four Horsemen comes to mind. Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death.

Chris Bray: beauty and misery, in cycles; but which cycle?

Chris Bray: beauty and misery, in cycles

Comment:

If we are in a cycle, then how long does it last? I'm thinking it may on a larger scale, but who knows? Then there's this:

hat tip to revolver,

and then this post with the thought...

The monk reference is with respect to the Dark Ages, when there were but a few who were attempting to save something of the culture that just evaporated into the mists of time. If it weren't for these monks, Western Civilization would likely have seen its end. How would anybody have known of the Caesar's and such things if it weren't for these monks?

Bray makes a hopeful end to the essay, but it has this has a dark undertow running underneath.

As for me, I'm wondering if my role is to be one of the "monk equivalents". There are others. Consider Kirk Sorensen and John Kutsch. If they hadn't rescued the molten-salt reactor information at Oak Ridge, the Obama Administration would have destroyed all that research. Instead, the Obama Administration gave it to the Chinese. That's right, give it all away to ANYBODY but the people who created it in the first place. It reminds me of what happened during the late decaying end of the Roman Empire, where the leadership seemed more interested in destroying the culture rather than sustaining it.

Yep, and there's a lot of indifference to outright hostility in trying to save it. It shouldn't be MAGA, it should be SAVE AMERICA so it can thrive again. This country is being murdered before our very eyes.

Pearl Jam - Alive

I found a cassette, with this song on it, on the grass long ago. One of the most consistently good LP's I've think I've ever heard. I never paid a penny for it.

Yep, I'm still alive. But do I deserve to be?

What are they trying to pull, here?

The idea of charging Trump and his followers for insurrection is a shot over the bow against Constitutional governance. Why? This scene from the movie "Braveheart" shows why. Wallace is accused of treason against his KING. In that form of governance, the King is the sovereign. Loyalty is required to him PERSONALLY. Not so in a Constitutional system. Everyone in such a system is required to swear an oath to the Constitution.  The Constitution is the sovereign entity.

This enables a "loyal opposition". The left wants to eliminate any opposition to them. Hence any opposition to them is sedition.  What we have here is an usurpation of the rule of law, not the defense of it. Overturning the Constitution was not Trump's aim.  Indeed, he was in support of it.  The real insurrection is how these people are attempting to install a different sovereignty over this nation. They are attempting to become the sovereign.  It will no longer be a Constitutional system if they succeed.  It will be in "name only".

Again, what they are demanding is loyalty to THEM, not the Constitution.  The law provides for a loyal opposition.  Trump was disputing the outcome of an election.  He was not attempting to overthrow the Constitution. The political left is attempting to end any notion of disloyalty to their rule. But their rule is not provided for in the Constitution.

What's the point, GOP?

So the DC crowd is going after Trump on J6th. The strategy has already been discussed in many places. The idea is to disqualify Trump from holding office again. The DC crowd wants to call J6th an insurrection, and have it fall under the 14th amendment disqualification enacted during the Civil War Era. It is a gimmick being used to eliminate Trump as an opponent. If they really didn't fear Trump, then why do it? But that is not what this post is about.

The problem is that there are so many on the GOP side that do not want to do anything about this.

So I mention this in conversations, and the response is something like "we'd get the blame". Then why have an opposition party at all? If the entire point is to rubber stamp everything you don't like, then why bother voting? What's the point? I say the House has the power of the purse, and they could just defund the entire business that the DOJ is running here. If the Dems want to do it, then they pay for it themselves. But no, we'd get blamed for it. That's what I hear.

Either I'm right, or they're right. If I'm right, then the House should just shut it down. The GOP would get blamed for it, but so what? Why was the GOP voted in but to stop this kind of thing? If they aren't voted in to stop this kind of thing, they what's the point in voting for them? You can get the same thing by having the Democrats in there.

If they're right, then all you can do is bitch. That's because if you do anything, you'd get the blame. Again, why should anybody in the GOP give a shit about that? Just speaking for myself, I didn't vote for them just to have a shoulder to cry on. I expect things to be done. What I don't expect is the fear that if you do what you said you'd do, then that would be bad. If you won't do anything about it, then button up your pie hole. Frankly, it comes across as a baby that whines and cries all the time. Well, boo freaking hoo.

The question is what good is the GOP if they'll do what the Democrats would do anyway?

I see no reason to vote this time around. The GOP isn't giving anybody any reason to vote for them.

7-17-23 --- Starbase Update: The Orbital Launch Mount Returns To Life

NASASpaceflight

Their latest update from Boca Chica.

A question for all the ages...

A long time ago for me, back in my youth, I was in school, and a question was asked of me. Not for me personally, mind you, for there was an audience. It seems like it is something that everybody wants to know about, but at the time, I was on the "hot seat", and I needed to answer. But I really didn't have one. So I fell back on something I saw in a book.

The question was about love, and what it was. Lordy, lordy! How is a skull full of mush going to answer a question like that? In time, everyone gets an idea of what that word means, and it may well be different for everyone. I don't recall exactly what I said at the time, but love seems to mean a whole lot of things.

Even a type like Forrest Gump would say that even though he wasn't a smart man, he knew what love was. That is to say, he knew of the physical component. It's more to it than that, though. As I was driving along the road today, I saw a sign in front of the church. Churchy types love to write these catchy phrases and post them where people can see them. The sign said: "love is patient, love is kind". That gave me the idea for this post, by the way. Love means a lot of things, you see.

But everybody is different, and they all have their own ideas of what it means. The book said it meant "being real". Being "real", meaning not to fake it. It is speaking from ones' deepest heart. At the end of it, you should have a warm feeling in your tummy. That's what it said. But I'm sure I wouldn't have said anything so mushy as that. I take being real means being truthful. So it works, in a way. But not exactly. A girl gave me that book. But there are times for mushy, and a time for not so much.

Anyway, the question is always asked, but does an answer come? If it does, consider it a bit of good fortune. But the fortune may not last. Fortunes have that quality.

Anyway, there's the post, for what it's worth. It's not saying much, but it says everything. After all, like the saying goes, love makes the world go round. Or does it? Hmmm......

The Book of Daniel - Official Trailer

Pure Flix website

I've watched the full flick on Tubi. I can't vouch for its completeness nor its accuracy. But having said that, I'd say no harm that I can think of can come from watching it.

Pinnacle Peak pictures makes this flick. The link is their website. The "about" page link is here.

the trailer follows below:

Robby Krieger (of The Doors) and friends

Short summary:

Robby Krieger was an original member of The Doors. He gives a bit of history of how the song came together.

I can remember this song playing on the radio on a trip towards Rollover Pass, near Galveston, way back in the day. We were on a fishing trip.

Of course, the radio version wasn't the long version, and this version is even longer than the LP version. It has some extra instruments in it.

Very interesting, and amusing. Krieger throws in some extra guitar work that shows where some of the song came from. It may be surprising.

enjoy...
