Added a gate to the awning. Since I didn't need all those boards on the side of the trailer, I took off six of them to make the gate. Spent about 10 bucks on some hardware, and slapped it on this morning.
Just sitting inside the trailer and monitoring how it is holding up to the sun. While I do this, I keep on getting ideas of how to improve upon it. Maybe there's a limit to this. There are other things that may need some attention.
The news is always nuts. How much time should I spend writing about the insanity?
Anyway, there's isn't much going on around here. The news is nuts, so what else is there?
Oh, I did move some stuff around in the interior of this trailer. The swamp cooler is next to the window that pops out a little. It could pop out a lot more, but the boards are in the way, and the ones that remain hold the roof up. Heh.
I'd like to move the freezer outside, but that means more work improving the awning. Just one of the ideas swirling around my brain.
The results of this work means a lot less a/c use, which is good. Also, I am not trapped in the hidey hole for most of the day.
That's all for now.

Why The Manafort Trial Is Helping Trump
Why The Manafort Trial Is Helping Trump
From the Dick Morris website, a link to the Thomas Gallagher article, which describes how the Manafort Trial is helping Trump.
If it is helping Trump, then why are they doing it? Are they just dumb, or crazy, or both?

Manafort
Updated,
8.3.18:
Mueller not getting what he wants from this judge. This case is key for Mueller. If he loses this case and/or the next one, the game is over --- they say.
Well, if it is over, it never should have started in the first place. But, I repeat myself.
What Manafort did or didn't do was before Trump was even a candidate. < sigh >
8.2.18:
18:30:
This is a doozy. Rosenstein refuses to prosecute Manafort in 2005 for essentially the same alleged crime.
Rosenstein does not look like Mr. Clean.
17:30:
Judge in Manafort case warns prosecutors that they can't prove conspiracy without star witness.
I am also wondering how this was written up. Won't express my reservations here exactly, just that people who report this stuff may be slanting it up. Note that it is Fox news, which has a reputation of being "conservative", but is it really?
Give credit to Fox for reporting it, though.
A bit of speculation: If the evidence is weak, could it be because there really isn't any evidence?
I thought that Ukraine is supplying some of the info. Unless someone appears on the witness stand, it is hearsay.
12:30 pm:
I hate to link Jennifer Rubin, but I read yet another one of her anti-Trump articles, so here's goes a comment.
Again, I ask: Where's the crime? Jennifer Rubin appears to believe that Trump is guilty of something, but what is it?
There are those who insist that collusion is indeed a crime. My thinking is if this is a crime to merely collude, then anybody can be convicted of just about anything.
There has to be an underlying crime involved here.
Manafort has been under investigation for years. The stuff they are trying him for occurred long ago. Long before Trump ran for POTUS. If Manafort is found guilty of some crimes here, what's that got to do with Trump?
There will be two trials. One of them involves something to the effect that Manafort was a foreign agent, and failed to register.
Trump is denying that he knew that Manafort was under investigation. Based upon what Trump is saying, he has good reasons to hire Manafort. However, if the Feds hid that information from him, and now are accusing Trump of colluding with a foreign agent with respect to Russia, then that in itself is a problem. But not necessarily for Trump. It sounds like entrapment. The government had a duty to inform Trump, if they didn't.
Manafort supposedly got arms for Ukraine eliminated from the GOP platform. So what? Trump was running on that. Are differences in policy now a cause for impeachment?
This is closest that I see for a quid pro quo. However, it is very nebulous. Question: do you seriously want to remove a POTUS for conspiring to change the GOP platform in exchange for unspecified Russian help in winning an election?
Sheesh. This is political garbage.

Anyway, it was no secret that Manafort had connections, so to speak. Heck, everybody in DC knew that. If they knew it, so did Trump.
Manafort has had the government on his butt for a long time. What could explain his not being prosecuted? Could it be that Obama wanted Putin's favor in getting his deal with Iran?
My impression is that Manafort's goose is probably cooked. So, what does this have to do with Trump? Perhaps very little.
Speculation alert here: could it be that Trump put down a false trail because he knew that his critics would seize upon it? In other words, since Trump almost surely knew about Manafort, he could have hired him because it would stir suspicion, even though there was nothing there.
Trump also hired Carter Page and Papadopoulos. Papadopoulos is connected to the alleged hack of the DNC. Carter Page is connected to the infamous Dossier. Ostensibly, Page was supposed to be influencing Trump to relax sanctions on Russia.
It may seem plausible to some that Trump is being influenced by Putin, but to do what? If these investigations are any indication, Mueller's "trump card" was that Trump would end sanctions against Russia. That would be a quid pro quo in exchange for Putin's help in getting the DNC hacked.
How does Manafort fit in, though? Manafort seems to be a guy who can get people to pay him for connections. You don't impeach a president based upon that.
As for relaxing sanctions, well, if Trump gets Russia to do a lot of things in America's best interest, then quid pro quo or not, what difference does it make?
Manafort is a sacrificial lamb. There has to be somebody who pays for this hanging. Hillary is really pissed.

Sounds like they might be willing to partner up with SpaceX if the BFR concept works out as planned.
In my opinion, the BFR is a revolutionary concept. It is a reusable big rocket, which has never been done before. If you can launch a payload comparable to the Saturn V, and return it to Earth to be used over and over, that's a big deal.
Probably will need a refueling capability, though. This hasn't been demonstrated. That's two things that have to happen first.

Obligatory, 8.1.18
July 2018 is now in the books. The past is written, but the future is not yet written. One eternity is before us, and another is behind us.
Hey, when you run out of stuff to say, you can get into some really weird shit.
No comment upon the news. Not much there I want to comment upon.
It is a cool morning, so we have that going for us around here.
I am thinking of adding a screen door to the front door awning. Another door on the just completed awning might also be possible. You know, I could build up a deck, and maybe the thing could be useful for sitting outside for awhile. Yeah, but that all costs money, and I should be economizing.
No more storage location in Austin. But I could still drive there and work.
Something could replace the storage location, and it could be a membership in the Y. It is possible as a place to exercise, and to chill out for awhile. Thinking about it anyhow.
The awning looks tacky. I need a level in order to make my work look better.
That will be all for now.

Obligatory, 7.29.18
Updated,
7.31.18:
7:23 pm:
Not sure what I accomplished with this. The sun still hits the trailer because it isn't fully enclosed. Does that mean I should fully enclose it?
Times like these you need to consider cost v. benefit. I know that to keep the sun off the trailer for several hours during peak heating should help. It is not yet clear how much help that actually is, though.
But to keep it off for only the late afternoon to early evening hours? Not a whole lot of incentive to do that. It's already cooling down, and there's not that much trailer left that is exposed to the sun.
11:00 am:
I built out the awning so that there isn't any sun hitting the living room area of the trailer. It isn't completed yet, but it is close. I got a bit tired, so I quit for the day. Can always finish tomorrow.
Or manana.
I'm in a good mood because I haven't read the news yet.

For anybody who may be wondering, the title just means that I don't have much to say.
But that doesn't mean nothing's going on.
There's plenty, just that I don't write about every cotton picking thing.
One thing I am doing is experimenting with this swamp cooler. Looks like I may be able to stretch a gallon of water for two hours. The way I did it was to put it up close to me, and turn it off after about two minutes of pumping water to the cooling element. After two minutes, shut the water flow off, and then let the cooling element dry out via the fan. This still gives a cooling effect, but not as much. Especially after about eight minutes.
Another thing is a water experiment. I am checking evaporation rates. Looks like a gallon of water that is emptied in a washtub will evaporate in two to three days. I calculate that about a quart per sq foot per day. Maybe not that much. But that gives a ballpark number anyway.
The third thing is an expansion of the "awning" for the side of the trailer that is facing the west. During the afternoon, this place gets a lot of sun, and it heats up a lot. Over the past year, I have added a little here and there to improve upon that scenario. But it still gets hot. Not sure that an awning will help much more, but I am just about ready to implement a plan to expand it about another 8 feet. Once that is done, an awning will span almost all of the living room area of the trailer. The bedroom and bathroom will remain uncovered. The bedroom has an air conditioner, and the bathroom is seldom used.
There won't be a roof. I tried a tarp last year, and it didn't work very well, and it didn't last.
Lately, I haven't been working. During this down time, I am getting a bit doubtful about going into Austin to work for Uber. I brought my van back from Austin last week, and I could stop paying for the storage space to park it there. Haven't decided. What can I do to make it better? There might be a way, but I am a bit worried that I am just wasting money and time with that kind of stuff.
That is all for now.

Demand Impeachment Of Rod Rosenstein!
Dick Morris
comment:
What you have here is a GOP which would never want to have to do this. The entire Russian meddling fake scandal has been set up with the GOP's unsaid blessing. If it weren't for the GOP's involvement in this, there wouldn't have been any Mueller.
Now, if the Rosenstein's impeachment proposition gets to a vote, the GOP is going to have to vote on it, when that is the last thing that they want to do. They will have to take a stand on something that they would just as soon lay off on the Democrats.
What these scumbags want is for the Democrats to do the dirty work of impeachment, while they can claim to be innocent. If Trump is removed, they can say that they didn't do it. Evidently, they believe that they can fool people into falling for this.
But they would have been just as much a part of this as the Democrats.
If it does get to a vote, you can bet that the usual suspects will vote against it. But most Republicans would probably vote to impeach. However, the key is getting the thing to a vote.

Austin, Texas, Considers Changing Its OWN NAME Amid Concerns About Confederate Monuments
Read this, and there's no hint of what the new name for Austin would be.
The name was originally "Waterloo", if memory serves. Would Austinites like their city to be called that? Just exactly what is the alternative?
They might name some contemporary liberal name. Maybe Obamaville! Or Hillaryland. Maybe Heckawi---- as in "where the heck are we"?

Jennifer Rubin's nice try
It's a nice try to wrap oneself around the phrase "rule of law". But it isn't the rule of law, it is politics.
I won't link to her Washington Post column, but she is now trying to save Mueller with the accusation of "obstruction of justice". This was predictable. Since there is no obvious crime, and no evidence to support that there was one, the only thing left for those who want to get Trump is to charge obstruction of justice. To me, it was transparent from the beginning.
There is something called the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. Any search or seizure has to be based upon probable cause.
How can you have a search for a crime that you don't know happened, and be consistent with the law? How can there be probable cause of a crime when you don't know what crime has been committed? How can they justify hiring a prosecutor when they don't have the crime?
What was the probable cause that would warrant the hiring of a Special Prosecutor--- Mueller? Mueller's job is to prosecute crimes that have occurred, but what crime was committed here? So far, he has not indicted nor convicted anyone of a crime that was in connection to his commission.
What exactly has he been doing all this time?
Collusion is an accusation that is freely thrown about these days. But there is no law against collusion. This is not to say that collusion happened or not, only that "unreasonable searches and seizures" of government agents are proscribed, when such are merely a hunt for evidence of political skulduggery. While collusion may be considered political skulduggery, nobody has named an anti-collusion law that has been violated. Hence no criminal investigation is warranted for such, even if such has happened.
Even after two years of unreasonable searches and seizures, and questionable practices, not even skulduggery has been found. Yet, we are to believe that--- to demand that these unreasonable searches and seizures should stop should be considered as an obstruction of justice?
Nice try Jennifer, but you lose again. As in 2016, the opponents of Trump like Rubin have nobody but themselves to blame. But they keep on trying.

George Will, aka those who pretend to defend freedom, but won't
Perhaps he can be called "George Won't", because he won't do a thing to support our failing civilization.
He has recently compared Trump to socialists. Yes, it reminds me of the 2016 campaign, and so I wrote a few things then that I'd like to point to wit:
He has recently compared Trump to socialists. Yes, it reminds me of the 2016 campaign, and so I wrote a few things then that I'd like to point to wit:
- Trump is more like Constantine than Caesar.
- more on the same subject... with respect to the presidential race of 2016
- Trump equals Caesar, or Constantine?
George Will is continuing with the same pattern. They make false statements in support of the current trajectory, which is self-immolation. While doing this, they make the claim that they are trying to save the nation or some such thing. The truth is that they are trying to save their place within the current order, which is not supporting the nation, but is letting it be destroyed.
Note that this blog has long been established as having spent a good deal of time on the subject of what has gone wrong. It came long before Trump arrived. Trump didn't brainwash the author. Trump didn't use his "charismatic" personality to suck me in. If anything, the current order of things promotes charismatic "cults of personality". How can Satan cast himself out? For Trump to be running a cult of personality, he would have to cast out the current crop of cultists who seek the next personality who will save them. Obama was supposed to be the Messiah, if you recall.
It might be possible that George Won't does believe what he writes. But in order for that to be true, he would have to be delusional. It is possible that he is delusional, but frankly I think he is full of shit.
