CSI Starbase: Hot Staging Troubles... and Booster 9 on Test flight 2

This is more than an hour long video. Prepare yourself to dive a bit deep, as you can now consider yourselves warned.

Even a somewhat geeky dude like me got lost in some of these details. The one thing I definitely got out of this presentation is that the project is amazingly complex.

To oversimplify a bit, one of the new things being attempted here is the scale of the ship. It has to carry a massive amount of liquid fuel, while managing these complex maneuvers in suborbital space. Such manuevers require intense complications in plumbing and engineering that can withstand the enormous stresses involved. SpaceX has had success with Falcon Heavy, which manages 27 engines. In comparison, Starship's booster has 33 engines, and a much bigger gas tank. Whereas Falcon Heavy is divided into 3 main sections, Starship's booster is all under one roof, so to speak. The bigness of the mechanism entails certain consequences, one of which is how to manage so much liquid fuel while executing a boost back maneuver.

Most folks who follow this know about the fuel sloshing problems. This video will dive deeper into that. You may be diving deeper than you figured on, and even when you do, you won't necessarily have the complete picture. Just an educated guess is about all you will have. Some of this is going to be considered privileged information not available to the general public. The narrator presents enough to almost get him into trouble-- as he mentions.

This is one of the few of this channel's videos that I've watched. I'm impressed. It will upgrade your understanding if you have the time for it.

You don't expect government officials to behave this way. It's nuts. Gonzo to the extreme. The term "gonzo" in itself is extreme, so it is even extreme for these people.

It's a bit alarming for grown men and women to lose all sense of proportion and rationality. But that's where we are.

The word meaning was unclear, so it needed some clarification. In this usage, it will be considered a synonym for bizarre.

Perhaps these are interesting times, as the Chinese might say.

If that is all it is, then maybe the boredom will return.

Or is that just a preference? Perhaps things should be more normal, but what is normal these days?

Gonzo is a period of instability. Gonzo is not going to be something that you can count on. Eventually, the interesting times have to end. The gonzo time will become boring in itself. It's not necessarily entertaining now, if it ever was. However, some folks talk about getting some popcorn and watching it like reality TV. If it seems to be getting too weird for almost everyone, then it will need to stop. But how? When?

As a delivery guy formerly in Houston, I've made a lot of deliveries to the building. As more news comes in, I begin to get a bit curious about the story. So here I am commenting upon it.

It was a "woman" with a small child. She appears to be a terrorist sympathizer. That's something I've been warning about on this blog. The Biden Administration has made terrorist sympathizers a protected class. Now they are shooting at people.

It seems to have been a disorganized and unplanned attack, in my opinion. The place is well guarded. The timing was off for mass casualties. But make no mistake, this was most likely intended to be a mass attack that failed. There is something sinister about a woman with a child who is armed and starts shooting. People don't know see women and children as a threat. Therefore, the use of such a tactic is a big red flag.  The intention appears to have been to get people to let down their vigilance so that massive casualties could be inflicted.

This attack should not be discounted so easily. I suspect that it will be, which will only compound the dangers even further. We got lucky this time, and the guards were alert and did their jobs properly. The GOP should stop going after Trump and go after Biden. This is his Biden's fault for making the terrorist sympathizers a protected group. Such people should be under intense surveillance. Instead, anybody speaking of such is going to be treated as the bad guy. Our priorities are totally out of whack.

Senate passes foreign aid bill

If we have anything here at all, we should now be in possession of the truth with respect to one thing. These "leaders" don't give a damn about what the public thinks. In particular, the GOP "leadership" doesn't care what the rank and file think about what they are doing with respect to Ukraine. So, in keeping with that, they approved legislature against the wishes of the majority of the party. So much for Democracy.

If Putin attacks a NATO country, as they predict he will do if he wins, why not explain the reasons why anyone should believe this? Instead, as this article posits, they insist that we trust them and their judgment.

Their judgments have failed in the past. That is a more reliable indicator of their probable success going forward. A different path should be taken. At the very least, they should explain why they have such a perfect view of Putin's intentions that they can predict exactly what he will do in the future. We the People are owed at least that much. Also, if they fail to convince the majority, they should adhere to the law. I worry more about the latter than the former.
