Starship Update, 10/14/23
Marcus House does his usual bang-up job of an update.
I missed the eclipse
This may not need discussion, but here's an explanation for the use of that song. The eclipse had a "ring of fire" this time. Probably because the eclipse took place with the moon at its furtherest distance from Earth. That means it didn't cover the full disk of the sun. Consequently, the sun looks like it has a hole in the middle of it. Hence, "black hole sun".
end update:
Drat it. I wasn't careful enough about it, and was busy doing other things.
Update later...

A way to pay for space exploration
3:19 PM: Daily update(s)
Re-reading that article just now... These people aren't looking at it in the right way. By the way, the government isn't doing that either. If they were, they wouldn't be standing in the way of Elon Musk the way that they are. It is STUPID to hold back this technology. It is absolutely a mind-boggling opportunity. ( NO, I AM NOT DRUNK.)

Asteroid mining
Comment:
Not sure where I found the above link. It seems to say a lot of things I've seen before, like the book "Mining The Sky". There are enough resources in the asteroid belt to accomodate a trillion people, if memory serves.
Such could bring a little perspective on this "Limits to Growth" mindset we've been in for the last 50 or so years. A solution to the energy problem could do even more. That solution already exists in the form of molten-salt reactor technology. Such could be commercialized within the next five years.
Such a post like this is a change of pace from the dreary political stuff we've been subject to.

So I checked out the link. The link was to X, and a few of the tweets will tell the story. I think he's right. She's just what is needed.

SpaceX launches the Psyche probe this morning. It is the probe to explore the metallic asteroid, which is said to be worth more money than could ever be imagined.
Still cool to see these boosters land.
Legal counter-offensive in the offing?
The point of the video is the need to impose a legal cost upon the left for pursuing Lawfare for political advancement.
Probably won't happen without a push in the political sphere. That would mean a political victory in the election. However, that might be a catch-22, since that's exactly why the GOP is currently weak. The Dems are using political power to cement their hold over society. It is hard to break that cement, but it must be broken.

Meet the crew ( Goodfellas)
These guys look like regular guys, but they are gangsters. That's the trouble with gangsters. They take advantage of normal people. They'll get your confidence, then they'll rip you off, or even kill you.
There are too many of these types in "public service" today.
Karen Hill attends Mickey's hostess party
She starts off saying how she and her friends weren't married to 9-5 guys. This is a pretty classic case of how a "good girl" gets caught up in a life of crime. Before the movie is over, she is afraid of being killed by a "close friend". What kind of life is it when you are afraid of being killed by someone you believed was a friend? But people admire this kind of life. That is, until things start to go wrong.
How Karen Nearly Got Whacked
It may all sound preachy and everything. But there are reasons for things being the way they are. If you are wake up some day wondering what went wrong, maybe you'll get the chance to make things right. If not, you just might die.
Ubuntu
It looks like I had the right ideas, but got stuck on Ubuntu. There's a lot of other things to get up to speed on, too. Putting Ubuntu on a stick is way outdated, by the way.
It's quite embarrassing to relate this. This post shows a lot of .... er, ignorance. A sophisticated person would be amused, I'm sure. Here I am talking about stupidity. Well, stupidity is hard to cure. Ignorance just requires some elbow grease.
I think kids are getting this stuff from the crib these days. If you are an older person, you might not be up to speed on all the details. But, it is hard to know all the angles.
end update:
Given the tech tyranny issue, it may be time to give it a try again. It's been more than a month long process in reorganizing my computer situation so that it may be possible to keep my data more secure. Who knows what these tech tyrants are up to? You cannot be too secure.
The new organization will be---er, better organized. Prior organization was haphazard. For now on, all personal data will be in separated locations. It is hoped that this will make it more secure. Perhaps that will not be the case, but it should be in theory. If it ain't plugged in, it ain't gonna be accessible to a hacker.
Ubuntu will take that a step further. The machine itself will be portable. The idea here is to make my OS reside on a usb stick. Online data will only be accesible to Ubuntu while it is plugged in. The data will be compartmentalized. It would be hard, if not impossible, for a hacker to get into stuff. But I wouldn't want to underestimate a knave. There are a lot of them these days.
This made me think of the bigger picture. Computer technology has become so vital that it is indispensible. If this was lost for any reason, I think we'd all be in a lot of trouble.
Know what I mean, Vern?
I've tried Ubuntu before. I've forgotten why I stopped using it. Maybe it was only a curiousity back then, but given the big picture today, I think it may be a necessity now.
Is Tulsi Gabbard still a Democrat?
Update to the post written on 10/6/23:
She's not a Democrat anymore. I must have missed the memo. There's a downside to this... She changes her views too much. It's okay for her to have an opinion, but as a leader; the change of your opinions, unlike a change of clothing, does not wear well. But if the original fit was bad, the change may be good.

Tying things together or trying to
10/12/23: Update of the post written on 8/11/23:
COLUMBUS DAY EDITION.
Today is the REAL Columbus Day before the change to a Monday, so that people could have a 3-day weekend. Might as well change Christmas Day to some Monday in late December. Then you would call it X-mas Day, or Winter Solstice Day or what have you.
end update:
the original post:
Readers of this blog may note a pattern. One of the first things was about respect for truth. Also, that the truth is a slippery thing. Then it was about the lack of material progress, which started sometime in the late sixties. It moved on to other things, like the Uniparty. But it all has a tie in somewhere. Going a bit further, the comparison with the fall of the Roman Empire, and lately, the Brave New World. The comparison is with our situation.
It may be hard for people to accept, but a lot of what you believe may be programmed into you. When I was a little boy, and just starting out in school, there was school prayer. Christopher Columbus was a great man. All Americans were very grateful and proud to live in the USA. In school, the songs we sung were patriotic. Does anybody think that these things are still true today? Little by little, these things changed. It may explain why I long for the old days when America really was great, and almost everybody said so. It may also explain why fewer and fewer people seem to like their own country. Why the change? I would submit that a lot of these attitudes are drilled into you and me all the time. It starts in school, and is reinforced by the culture that seems to have taken root. The culture has changed because the cultural conditioning has changed.
The Patty Hearst case comes to mind. She was kidnapped by the so-called Symbionese Liberation Movement, or some such thing. As time went by, she was converted to their cause. She became one of them, and began calling herself Tanya. These folks were revolutionaries. Once they were caught, Patty Hearst changed her attitude once again, and wanted to be called Patty again. At her trial, she pleaded that she was brainwashed. The jury didn't buy it, and she was convicted. President Carter may have commuted her sentence, and eventually she may have been pardoned altogether. At any rate, her case begs for some explanation. Was she brainwashed?
There are films that cover the topic of brainwashing. There was the Manchurian Candidate, which starred Frank Sinatra. That sort of brainwashing was never really believed, as the people brainwashed seemed to be programmed into believing things that seemed unbelievable even to themselves. Perhaps that's why folks at that trial didn't buy into the brainwashing theory, and refused to acquit Patty Hearst. Another film is Clockwork Orange. In that film, the main character is brainwashed into acting completely opposite of how he acted before. This treatment was to make him a good citizen who would be sick to his stomach at the very thought of sex and violence.
There have been stories in films based upon real events, such as the one in Dances with Wolves. It is based upon the story of Cynthia Ann Parker, who was kidnapped by plains Indians, and became one of the tribe. The explanation for the change is referred to as Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome refers to the identification with one's captors. Such may have been the case with Patty Hearst.
The cultural morass of today may have had at least some of its success to a similar process. The culture has captured the people and the people are coming under its power. The trouble is that the culture is antagonistic to America's existence. People like me are somewhat puzzled by the lack of resistance to it. But not everybody remembers a time when things were quite different. The culture has really done its job of programming people. I note it from time to time how the language has been changed. Back in the old days, homosexuals were called "queers". To call someone a queer was to insult them, and it might well have been fighting words. These days, it is the other way around. If you call a faggot a faggot, you're the bad person. The culture was flipped on itself 180 degrees. The mutilation of children is starting to be accepted as a normal thing. Back in the day, it would have been scandalous.
So Donald Trump runs on the banner of Making America Great Again. For that, he is the bad guy that the programmed and mindless seals hate. They are taught to hate Trump for nothing more than restoring America to its greatness. Their hysterical opposition is to the possibility that he may succeed, and the fear that he would succeed. For that would mean the rejection of them.
If the true issue is not whether or not Trump is the bad orange man, but whether or not the underpinnings of that belief are valid or not. If the issues were valid, then why make things up? Why lie about Trump if he is so obviously evil?
The problem is, for these cultural programmers, is that their programming isn't finished yet. There are still too many people who like what this country once was, and would like to return back to it.
There was no insurrection on January 6th. There is a cultural divide that is basically incompatible with each other, and this is a cultural war. In warfare, truth is the first casualty.
It would seem that those who do not want to defend America should be asked why they don't. This is another one of the patterns here. I'm referring to the never-Trumper faction of the GOP, who will not defend Trump. Indeed, they have added their voices to the Democrats, who are the party of the cultural morass that is overcoming this country.
Pence could have referred the votes back to the states. The fact that he could have has already been addressed in the law change after January 6th. If the fact had to be addressed at that time, how could it have been an insurrection? It was lawful, and their words and deeds match up to that fact. There was a riot, but the rioters may have been provoked into violence. They did not come to overthrow the Constitution, but to protest the outcome an election that didn't seem fair nor honest. The right to protest and redress one's grievances is a lawful act.
It seems that the never-Trumpers aren't much interested in the rule of law unless they could use it to discredit their opponents. Neither are they much interested in democracy, for the same reasons. They are a lot like the cultural brainwashers that want us to ignore the laws when convenient. They identify more with their captors, and may be suffering under a type of Stockholm Syndrome. That is being as kind and generous to them as is possible. The worse case is that they are traitors.
The troubling thing to people, and the thing they may not be able to accept, is that this is pretty hard to use reason as a way to influence change. That's why it could result in a civil war. To listen to reason is to subject one's own closely held beliefs to scrutiny. Maybe only a small number of people are willing to do that. In the absence of reason, how can violence be far away?
There may be a way out of this, but it looks like a rough road ahead regardless of the final outcome.
Here's a thought to chew on. I saw this movie when I was bit too young to be allowed into the theater. It went over my head for the most part. The prison chaplain argues for free will. But the boy named Alex was forced into self-abasement in order to escape the sickness was forced into having through his treatment. Is free will a real thing? Indeed, that is what we may have to decide in our current time. Our cultural captors may be forcing us into a change that we may refuse if we had the real choice.

An Invitation | Mr. Robot
Phishing expedition...
end update (2): Update of post of 10/8/23:
Not a whole lot out there to do, so here's another Mr. Robot video.
Why put this up? Well, it is said to be "realistic", with respect to hacking. Also, I can comment on the thing as well. For one, there's a scene in this video that is disgusting. Why include it? I guess that's being realistic too. But it isn't very pleasant. Now that I managed to turn off any interest that may have existed in watching the vid, here's it is.
end update:
I don't watch much television. Up until today, I never heard of this show. I've looked at a few videos and some descriptions of this show, and my curiosity is piqued. Why does the main character turn down this "invitation"?
I'd have to research his character a lot further to come to a definite opinion.
Some might regard him as a hero. Based upon what I've researched, he may have crossed some lines that should not be crossed. Making him out to be a hero may be a mistake.
Update a little later: I've lost interest. It appears to be a mental thing with that character.

Colorado State Rep won't condemn Hamas slaughtering innocent women and children
"What about it?" he responds. He also calls it a "bullshit video". Excuse me???
Maybe some questions should be asked of GOP people who want to "work with" people like this. Or GOP people who are "moderate", who want to work with the hard left who seem to think this kind of thing is acceptable.
No, the GOP wants to expel Matt Gaetz because he dared disagree with them. They'd rather fight US than THEM.

I wanted to make a post of this last night, but it was late. Now I have forgotten what I wanted to say.
It may have been in the way that this may be taken. Does this kind of speech actually deliver votes? Or lose votes? It's a fair question. Anyway, it doesn't matter if it is the truth or not. That's because people may not want the truth. I believe the truth is the way to go, but not everybody agrees. Maybe nobody agrees, or only the few.
I should also add that I believe the truth is a slippery thing. You think you've got it, but it slips away from you like a fish wiggling off the hook.

Matt Gaetz SLAMS Special Interests Controlling Our Government, Trump 2024 SCARES THEM
The stretch after 10:50 is excellent. But it is all worth watching.
The Rasmussen poll has Biden at 42%. Recently, it was a bit higher. But the thing to look at is the Strongly Approve v Strongly Disapprove. The Strongly Disapprove is nearly 2-1 over the Strongly Approve. Biden will always have a hard core supporters. It's these other folks that are so easily swayed by little stuff. These folks are pretty fickle and can be easily manipulated by a dishonest media.
Young guy walks around Costco and finds prices are much higher than what we are told
Drill baby, drill. Seems like I heard that before. |
Also, Obama and the left were saying that we couldn't drill our way out of it. But we were until Biden showed up. They also said that sub $2.00 gas was a thing of the past, but it wasn't. The left says a lot of things, but a lot of it is WRONG. ( That's being too generous. It's almost always wrong.)
I remember putting the bumper sticker on my truck back in 2008 when gas was $4.00 in Houston. Drilling brought the prices down. Now that that's been successful, the left wants to kill it off. Once they destroy the oil market enough, they'll be saying that we can't drill our way out of this again. Maybe they'll be right (for once) because there won't be anybody left to do the drilling.

Why interview Pence at all?
He's blaming Trump and others even though they are not in power, and cannot do anything with regards to the Presidential power one way or another. This is a Biden problem; not a Trump, DeSantis or whoever problem.
Besides that, he shows an awful lot of disloyalty for his old boss. That seems all too typical these days, which is what the actual question was about.

Where can you get 2000 Mules?
Update from yesterday's update:
Perhaps a revisit of a previous revisit is indicated.
It would be a mistake to think this is a frivolous thing. It is a serious thing.
update ends:
Update from yesterday's post:
The link below, which "fact-checks" 2000 Mules, does the very opposite. The reason I say that is that the fact check claims that there was insufficient "granularity" in the methodology used to determine cheating. If you check into this at all, you have to know that this is not only false, but monstrously false.
Our privacy is just about gone. The effort amongst the Big Tech-Big Government symbiote to gather every last detail about every last person in this country should inform you that, not only is 2000 Mules right, but they are ABSOLUTELY right. The granularity is such that it may shock the average person who is naive about what's really going on in this country.
People who believe the media these days have to fall into 4 categories 1) they are very naive or, 2) they are very stupid or 3) they are evil , or 4) they know full well it's all a bunch of lies because that is what they want---this would be the Big Tech-Big Government symbiote.
You can bet your sweet bippy that the election in 2020 was bogus. Also, that the election in 2024 will likely be bogus as well, as there isn't really anything being done to curb the power of the symbiote. Indeed, the biggest liars of them all might well be the Republicans. They are claiming to do something about it, but they never do.
The problem is that the evil ones who support the symbiote in their smoke screens are just kidding themselves. Perhaps they believe that they can get some benefit from deceiving others---the others who are naive or stupid. In the end, I believe, they are only kidding themselves. Whatever you may gain from it temporarily will be more than offset by the damage that it does in the long run. But as one famous person once said, "in the long run, we are all dead". Actually, that is not quite correct. In the long run we are all dead, but the people going along with the lies are already "dead as a beaver hat".
update ends:
I'll have to use this work-around to post from Truth Social because Blogger won't let me anymore.
Anyway, there's a couple reasons why I am posting this 1) I forgot the name of the D'Souza's work and 2) There's was a claim that the location data obtained wasn't good enough to be reliable for the purposes of D'Souza's claims. The location data obtained was from cell phones. If inaccurate tracking was claimed, and my recollection was that it was, then either those who said so were lying, or they are ignorant. It is possible that they are ignorant because a lot of people don't seem to realize how much the Big Government and Big Tech are watching us with OUR own cell phones.
Why would you want the government spying on you?
You can get 2000 Mules on Amazon and even Walmart dot com sells it. I'll pass because I don't need convincing that the 2020 election was fraudulent.
