They're delusional?

It may be only my take of the article, but I'd say it was because they lie.

Dead people voted in Boston?

Why not? There's a zombie in the White House, and bunch of others in the media and on the political left.

Gaetz was borked

The 2024 Vilification of an Attorney General Nominee

Was Gaetz guilty of anything at all? We'll never know because he ducked out of the fight.

Do I blame Gaetz, or do I blame the swamp?

Has Trump made a tactical retreat?

Some of his recent picks are a bit squishy.

Or is it realism? The fact of the matter is that he cannot do exactly as he pleases. Also, we have more than enough squishes in Congress already. We have checks and balances, and right now, the squishes can block anything meaningful.

There was talk of a recess appointment, but that seems to be incorrect. I haven't looked it up myself. It could be open to interpretation. After a pause, I looked it up. The President can adjourn Congress if the two Houses disagree about adjournment, and it is longer than 3 days. It looks like it could be used to give the President too much power, if such was intended. The denial of adjournment of the Senate can also keep the President's agenda from being enacted, in terms of getting his appointments through. In other words, you'd need a strong majority in Congress; and if he had that in the first place, there'd be no problem with his appointments.

Remember her? The name rang a bell, so I looked it up on my own blog.

Her faction ruled the White House, which housed the nearly incapacitated Joe Biden, who pretended to be "sharp as a tack". Biden was supposed to be "middle of the road". Yep, you know what happens to those in the middle of the road, right? It even happens when you pretend to be middle of the road, and aren't.

Could it be that their faction took a big hit in this recent election, and the public now knows it beyond all reasonable doubt?

It is hard to tell if these people are just crazy or what. You can't fix crazy or stupid. Therefore, you cannot allow them into positions of trust and power.

Yes they have no bananas

Felix at the Whataboutit youtube channel breaks down Flight 6.

Hey boss. Something's wrong here

Why would anybody go to Mars? That is to say, what would be a motivation? To make money? To have freedom?

If you were to make money, you'd need a way to spend it. There aren't too many shopping centers on Mars. Also, if you had freedom, what would you do with it? There's nobody there, or at best, just a handful of people. Not much to do but to work and try to stay alive in a very hostile environment.

So why go there? There has to be a reason, or nobody is going to do it.

Perhaps for the thrill of it? Danger may attract some people. But there's no wild beasts to contend with. You're biggest problem is to find enough of the basic necessities of life. There's no air to breathe, no food to eat, no nothing. It is a dead planet.

You'd have to solve the low gravity problem. Also the radiation problem. Once you do all that, the best you'd have is a very limited space to move around in. Wouldn't that get boring pretty quick?

More than likely, there's going to be a lot of robots sent in first. These things don't have human emotions, and don't need to breathe, eat, or anything else. Their problems are not our problems. Only thing is, in order for them to be useful, they have to get smart enough to know that they're slaves. Would there be a robot rebellion? At least for the time being, this seems like a remote possibility.

Robots can be made to move like us, talk like us, and look like us. But they aren't people. You could get bored with them pretty quickly too. Boredom would seem to be a big issue to solve. It wouldn't be too long and you'd have everybody wanting to come back. Mars would be too boring!

Marcus House explains Flight 6

Marcus House breaks down Flight 6.

One more ocean landing before catching the ship? Well, that's new. It may be well into 2025 before the first catch is attempted. That's true unless Starship is about to ramp up its launch cadence to a much faster pace.

Bushmen tribe ( repost from January 26, 2011)

11/21/24:

The reason for this update is that it is something that people need to keep in mind. I think it is important that censorship is kept at bay. There is a strong tendency amongst the left to rely upon it in order to prop up their point of view.

But why would their point of view need propping up? The political left is too fond of censorship. As for the rule-of-law, it is against the First Amendment to the US Constitution. The political left needs to be reminded of that, and so does the general public.

That is all.

12/18/12:

Note:  I am re-posting this as a suggestion in how to handle wayward boys.  These are the kind of boys that need the kind of attention that the Bushmen used with great effect amongst themselves.  A kid who threatens others and himself is using those threats as a way of being manipulative.  He becomes arrogant, I suspect, because he learns how to control others.  He becomes more and more dangerous the longer he is not confronted with his natural born aggressiveness.

Anyway, the original post below:

Bushmen tribe

In connection with current events, in particular this business about "vitriolic" speech, let's take a look at one of the practices of the Bushmen tribe of Africa. I mention this tribe because something about one of their practices struck me and has remained with me for over 30 years now since I first read about it in an Anthropology textbook. It was the Bushmen's attitude toward arrogance and how dangerous it can be to the safety of the group.

Briefly, the story went like this: an anthropologist studying the Bushmen decided to buy an animal which was to be slaughtered for a feast for this small group. Instead of being grateful and praising the quality of the animal he bought for them, they kept saying how rotten it was. The man didn't get upset, but he did get curious and finally asked why they kept downgrading his gift even when they had to know it was of the best quality available. The answer was "arrogance". To the Bushmen, someone who is arrogant is dangerous. He can endanger others in the group, and so this problem has to be dealt with aggressively. So they tear down a person's sense of superiority, as the Bushmen are very egalitarian. In the words that I remember, the man explaining says it cools his heart and makes him more gentle. The Bushmen are relentless in cutting you down to size. They won't put up with swelled heads.

Now let's look at this complaint about "vitriolic" speech. What's so bad about criticism even if it is unjust? The Bushmen didn't seem to worry about it so much. Actually, they seemed to profit from it. Our politicians can be even more dangerous than a wayward Bushman is to his tribe. The effects of arrogance can be much more serious in a nation which is among many other nations who possess nuclear weapons. A little vitriol from time to time can go a long way to cooling some swelled heads in Washington who get a little too sure of themselves.

Therefore any complaint about "vitriolic" speech should be looked upon with suspicion. If politicians only want to be praised and told how wonderful they are, that should be a red flag. This is why I don't watch State of the Union speeches. It seems that it is just one long self serving promotion of a politician and his supporters in Washington. It wasn't even the custom of the President to address Congress in person. Thomas Jefferson started the tradition of sending written messages to Congress rather than address the body publicly. He considered it too imperial in its implications. This complaint about vitriol in the public discourse is a troubling thing if it was intended to squelch dissent just before an imperial address before Congress.

It should be noted that the practice of the President addressing Congress in person ended with Woodrow Wilson. This was during the so called Progressive Era in American politics. It was also the same time that the income tax was adopted and the Federal Reserve was created. It was the time before two great wars and the beginning of the modern system of big government. Was this a good thing, this growth of government and the tendency toward an imperial Presidency?

Inside baseball calls this a brushback pitch

Google is acting a bit strangely these days. I've seen a couple instances of the thing acting like it doesn't want me to sign in.

If this is a prelude to bigger trouble, I'd thought I'd given a warning of my own. This blog may not be accessible to me soon. If that is what this means.

After all, this is Google's playground. If you don't play "nice", things might get a little rough.

Dan Bongino show, 11/20/24

Danny boy's on the right track, but...

He says he's right, and he probably is. However, there's some points in which I would disagree. It's not really much of a disagreement, but there ONE.

We've got to call things by their right names. It's a narrow mandate, not a broad one. Trump won a large majority in the electoral college. But he did it with small majorities. The House elections are too close, and the Senate victories should have been more numerous. Don't call it a big mandate.

It is a mandate, it's just not a big one. Trump needs to be careful to marshall that political captial wisely. This may play into the hands of the weaker faction of never-Trumpers and so-called "moderates". That's the argument that the left loves. It's called the "political spectrum". The "political spectrum" is bullshit. It is designed to hamstring any conservative. Trump must not fall for it. Reagan didn't. His successor and those following DID.

Bongino is correct about one of the things he said.. There's no time to relax, but don't act like you won in a blow-out. That's because it wasn't one.

Girls got the sads

There's some gals out there shedding some tears over this election. Girls! What a waste of tears!

Don't be foolish. Try this song. Always there'll be tomorrow.

Not a care in the world

That's my impression. A song about somebody who isn't worried about a thing.

Blasphemy! Blasphemy!

I'm not a fan of Cenk whatever his name is, but this is good.

It reminds me of the character in the movie "A Fish Called Wanda". The part where he says, "don't call me stupid".

The Dark Side of the Web

The Wayback Machine was once available to check on web pages that are no longer on the web. A quick check on there does not bring up the the Machine. Perhaps I am rushing to report on this, and there's another way to access it, or it has been taken down.

Perhaps it is also me jumping to conclusions. The conclusion is that there's people out there who would like information to be scrubbed from the web. To me, that is evidence of the dark side of human nature. If the web is out there to make everything known, then it does seem rather evil to scrub some things, but not others. That is to say, whatever is out there is being recorded by SOMEBODY. However, only that SOMEBODY has it. This gives that SOMEBODY an advantage over everbody else, who doesn't have that access. This SOMEBODY could be rich and powerful, while all others are not.

Know what I mean, Vern?

Starship Test Flight 6

11/20/24:

A screen grab of the booster returning to the Gulf of Mexico. One thing that stands out to me is that the engine compartment is red hot. The engines are not on, and the booster is 11 km above the surface. There were no explosions in the air, as was the case in earlier flights. Also, there was no fire just before landing, as was the case in Flight 5. This may have been a simulated landing on the tower while at sea. The booster was pitched to one side, then went vertical just as it was landing.

Great SpaceX YouTube channel video

The booster was diverted well before this, by the way. Later reports had stated some damage at the tower. It was deemed a risk, hence the diversion.

11/19/24, 5:43 PM

The Starship has just landed in the Indian Ocean. There was a bit of excess heating on the flap, but it didn't burn through too badly, or much at all.

The booster didn't make it back to the pad for a catch. It landed in the Gulf of Mexico in its designated area, as best as I can determine.

The launch went pretty smoothly, no engines cut out. The hot stage maneuver seemed to go well, as well as the boost-back burn. Even so, the booster wasn't given the go-ahead for another catch attempt. Therefore, it's backup trajectory was where the booster went. Something of a disappointment. However, I wonder if it was out of an abundance of caution. If a catch was attempted, there's a risk of an incident that could delay the next flight.

If the focus of the this flight was to test the Starship; and not the booster, then the failure of the booster to return is no big deal. Also, the partial burn-out of the ship is no big deal because it is an old design. It is the last of the version 1 of the proto-types.

The next flight will feature the version 2 ship, and it may get a chance to land on the tower.

SpaceX may not be much interested in a booster catch at this point. This part has been done before. Why risk it? It may well be deferred on the next flight as well. SpaceX may not be interested in collecting and reusing old designs.

Flight 7 will be in the first part of next year. Excitement might have been guaranteed, but it was not as exciting without the booster catch. As far as I can tell, the SpaceX team achieved their objectives, and so it is on to the next test flight next year.

Angry Leftists Plot to Tank Trump Economy by Not Spending Any Money Once He’s in Office

America First Report

That will convince us all that the Trump economy doesn't work, or so they believe. Think about it. The idea is to convince people that Trump cannot succeed if they sabotage the economic statistics. Why stop there? You could hold another riot for good measure.

Gee whiz. If you cannot beat them, then don't join them. Sure convinces me that they were right.

Why didn't the so-called right engage in this kind of behavior? They'd never lose! That's because if they could beat 'em without sabotage, just think what they'd do if they did.

Well, if the left's gotta sabotage, then thanks for letting us know ahead of time. We'll just have to buy more in order to make up for the deffersit.

Lame duck President Biden trying to start a war?

Death of a Nation (2018 film)

A Dinesh D'Souza creation, which may prejudice a number of people against it.

This is a video that I partially watched on Tubi. You can certainly watch a variety of very useful and educational things on Tubi, and it is free. I like free. The video is a film that received some very, very negative reviews. I can see why when I watched it. Rather than to concur with the reviews, I have to give it a thumbs up.

Frankly, I didn't read any reviews, except for the Wikipedia entry. As for the Wikipedia entry about the film, it is written up as a very negative non-review of the reviews ( if I may turn a phrase). I'd describe it as a "hate-bomb". If you've heard of the term "love-bomb", this is the opposite of that ( I think). The idea is to turn the reader against it without even the benefit of having seen it for yourself. According to the Wikipedia article, it was a failure at the box office, and it was due to the large number of negative reviews.

I've heard of D'Souza, of course. But all of his stuff is generally on a paying basis. I refused to pay for seeing any of his films, so it is not because of any negative reviews. I like free, as I mentioned. I don't have the money to pay for political messaging.

But this is free, so I got a good taste of what he had to say. I have not seen all of it yet, but I'd say that it appears to be fact-based, as opposed to history revisionism that Wikipedia is claiming.

You might want to consider the arguments against Wikipedia They are definitely trying to suppress D'Souza with a lot of hate bombing.

I think you can cross-check some of his assertions by reading the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, which is hardly a right wing book.

Incidentally, I've been preaching long and hard against this so-called political spectrum business that is being used to deceive the American public. The one idea that D'Souza hammers on is the lie that the poltical right is opposite to the political left. That fascism and communism are opposites. They are close cousins of each other. The political specturm is based upon the lie that the extremes are between the right and left with Fascism and Marxism on either side respectively.

I concur with that thesis. Fascism is nothing more than a virulent brand of socialism. These are not opposites, but bear very close resemblance.

After a bit of a break, I returned to watch almost all of the remaining film. If there's any criticism that I'd offer it is the comparison of Trump with Lincoln. People aren't likely to go along with that one, and it represents a turning of what could be called a documetary type film into something of a docudrama.

I'd say that this might have been a mistake. Perhaps D'Souza has a bit of an emotional attachment combined with a hatred and dislike of the modern left. I cannot blame him for the latter, but the former has yet to be decided.

With that, I may draw this post to a close. I don't think it should be dismissed so easily. That is also a mistake. The modern left didn't bother to restrain themselves with the Hitler comparisons, and still haven't even though it didn't win for them. In short, we shouldn't act like them, lest the same shall happen to us. By "us", I am referring to those who will defend what is good about America.
