Big government doesn't work, socialism will be even worse.

The Ford eco-boost engine.  Why was this engine ever created in the first place?  Because it was mandated by the government.  It was necessary in order to meet higher fuel standards.

We can "thank" the Democrats for this.  It wasn't necessary, and it will cost consumers big bucks for years to come.  Ford will have to deal with the headaches, but will get the blame for something that they would never have done except by government mandate.

There is a principle involved here, if only enough people could grasp it and take it to heart.

Fraud alert

Comment:

No transcripts of the Mueller testimony.  The Democrats can claim anything now.  No way to prove otherwise.  It has been a fraud all along.

Dem debates

Good God!  Do I have to write about this catastrophe?

Dem candidate Williamson ( or whatever ) said that we need more love.  Who does she think she is, the Beatles?

All we need is love,
all we need is love, love
love is all we need

Works okay for a song, but not in the White House.  Good freaking grief.

Then Harris does a Bentsen Quayle on Biden, and Biden may be down for the count.  Or so I've heard.  It turns out that Harris played the race card while claiming she wasn't.  Not only that, she may have lied about her background.  Well, it shouldn't be a surprise when Democrats lie.  Actually, when they open their mouths, they are lying.  No respect for truth, unless it is "their" truth.  It's a post-modern kind of thing.

If Harris gets the nomination, look for a repeat of this in the general election.  But I don't see Trump doing a Quayle.  But how do you respond to tactics like this?  I've written on this blog about that.  When somebody is just flat out rude, you have to have a response that is commensurate with the attack.  Biden didn't seem to have an answer much better than Quayle did.

Something tells me that the Dims respond better to the meanness than to the love.

Why Hillary should never be POTUS

Comment:

There are some who suggest that the disaster last night was a good oppo for her to get in the 2020 race.  But this story may remind people of the real reason she is not POTUS today.

She should be in jail instead.

Incidentally, could this be the reason why she invented the Russian collusion hoax?  Democrats have a lot to hide.

Not CnC material

Comment:

Maybe dork in chief.  Honestly, people.  Do you see this dork in front of the Eagle taking the Oath of Orifice?

Maybe I should rephrase that question.

Dems big liability for 2020

Comment:

It's gonna be hard to walk this one back, so I've read.  Dick Morris once predicted that the Democrats will make the same mistake that they did in the past...  Which was to go too far to the left.  If this is any indication, that appears to be an accurate prediction.

Aw, c'mon.  Just say the Dems are nuts, and get it over with.

Wheels of justice grind slow and fine, so they say

Comment:

Michael Flynn may receive justice in due time, but probably not in time to affect the outcome of the 2020 national election.

The end of peaceful transitions, what will happen next?

Comment:

A good deal of this article is about how the incoming Trump administration had had names unmasked, which is a violation of their 4th Amendment rights.

The intention was that the outgoing Obama Administration tried to sabotage the incoming Trump Administration.

Will there ever be any accountability for this?  I would not hold my breath.

Obligatory, 6.26.19

Looks like Mueller will testify in Congress.  It is scheduled for July 17th.  Evidently, the Democrats want him to say what he didn't, or be able to claim that he did.

I'd look for some kind of trick here.  What's to prevent Mueller from telling Democrats what they want to hear, then refusing to answer anything from Republicans?

Anyway, he is going to appear in Congress, for what that is worth.

As for the Iranian thing, they are saying that talks are over for ever and ever.  If that means that they are planning some dastardly deed, then I suppose Trump will have to respond somehow.

You know, from the sound of it, Trump might nuke 'em.  You might think that is crazy of me to suggest, but note the words that Trump uses.  If they kill any Americans anywhere, Trump might turn Iran into a glass parking lot.  Is it a game of chicken?  If that game gets played, somebody could be miscalculating very badly.  Iran might try to test Trump, and find out something that they may not want to know.

What about election news?  If Iran gets blown up, what will that mean for the election next year?  Before anything like that happens, the odds for Trump's reelection is 50--50 according to one site I looked at.  That may not sound so great, but the odds for the other contenders is worse.  The site is about odds for money bets.  Money talks.

Project Veritas busts Google

Bongino is really promoting this today, so I went to his site, and clicked on the link.  It showed up okay, but I was having some technical troubles, so I will link to it here.

When doing a post on Blogger, you can test the link by clicking on it.  I did that above, and it worked fine, but on a normal page, it didn't work for some reason.  Anyway, the thing I wanted to do was to tweet the article, so here it is:

The irony is that I am using a Google product ( Blogger ) to help me use Twitter in order to criticize Google, and both Google and Twitter are accused of bias towards conservatives.

I don't think big corporations are friends of conservatives, so this Project Veritas story is not news to me.  I include it because some people may need further evidence, but if the evidence already existing isn't enough, then perhaps this won't make much difference.  But I'll play along.

Obligatory, 6.24.19

The well is a bit dry right now.   In order to keep putting up material, I'll have to rely a bit upon memory.  A few days ago, I found something on the web about George Will comparing Trump supporters to cockroaches.

Of course in this day and age, it is customary to get outraged at such a comparsion.  But I'll wave that off.  However, it does give me an idea of something I could post about George Will.

Like I said this is from memory.  So, it may be subject to error.  So here goes.  George Will liked Ronald Reagan.  He wrote something about Reagan once, if memory serves, in which he said that Reagan was the captain that calmed the seas.  A lot nicer than comparing Reagan's supporters to cockroaches.

So maybe he thinks that Trump is the captain that enrages the seas.  Funny thing is, he may be right in a sense.  But in the end, Trump will calm the seas just as Reagan did.  He just approaches the problem in a different manner.

Reagan handled the media much differently than Trump.  Trump will go toe-to-toe with the media.  He can do that without a lot of heat and unpleasantness.  But the media keeps after him anyway.  Yet, Trump doesn't back off.  Eventually, I think Trump will overcome the media by wearing them down.  On the other hand, Reagan tended to avoid the media.  He didn't give interviews the way that Trump has recently with Stephanopolous and Chuck Todd.  The media can throw their heaviest hitters at Trump, and it just bounces off him.  In contrast, Reagan just used a charm offensive.  It worked for Reagan, but will a different style work for Trump?

It could.

There was a recent kerfuffle about what Trump said to Stephanopolous.  But the polls show no movement against the president, in fact, his polls are somewhat better.  That's what I mean by wearing them down.  He can take their hits, and keep on going.  In fact, he even gets stronger as time goes along.

Eventually, the media will tire of trying to bring him down like this, and just try to wait him out.

During the meantime, the seas will calm down.

Will may not like Trump, but it isn't because of his style with the media.  It is based more upon substance, which is at the heart of the Democrat opposition as well.  The Democrats want open borders and the GOP want free trade.  However, Trump has them here as well.  They'll figure out that they cannot take him down with phony issues, and then Trump will beat them on the real ones.

Corporate CEOs as SJWs

Comment:

So-called conservatives keep giving guys like this more and more power.

Hey, it is in "support of capitalism", they'll say.  Does this really seem like capitalism?

Gen. Flynn breaking story

Comment:

Maybe Russiagate really was all about Flynn.  Another scandal could be lurking right under the surface.

Wasting time

Comment:

IG Horowitz is asked about Strzok and Page's bias, and Horowitz cannot even say that they were biased.

Anybody can see that they were.  It makes the Horowitz investigation look tainted.

Horowitz is investigating again, and the bet is against him finding anything wrong with how certain Democrats handled things.

But we have to wait on Horowitz, because, by golly he has to "investigate".

Compare and contrast

Updated,

11:09 am:

I cannot believe the number of errors.  Corrected, damn it.

9:32 am:

The two modes of thinking here in this excerpt from Brave New World.

The representative from the Brave New World would reject the ideas in Keat's poem -- Ode on Melancholy.  John embraces it.

The truth isn't really about melancholy.  It is about freedom.  The freedom to be happy or sad.  To make mistakes, and to learn from them.  To grow or not grow.  To exist, and to live.

John the Savage wants to live, but the Brave New World is content merely to exist.

But John's mother chose the Brave New World.  Thus the question:  Which one is best?  The one in which you are accustomed?  Or is there some objective way to determine the answer?

To have a chance at something better one must take risks.  If perfection already exists, then why take the risk?
