As can be noted, I am changing topics, as I have become quite disgusted with the political sausage making. While I am controlling my disgust, I will move on to more pleasant topics to discuss.
Once the politicos finish screwing each other and us in the bargain, it may be useful to go back and
examine the wreckage.
I am sure the politicos won't appreciate my labelling their activities as disgusting. If they weren't disgusting, there wouldn't be as many problems, now would there?
My pageviews went down. But of course! People like the spectacle. This author declines to participate at the moment. I have other priorities than in dealing with a bunch of a-holes.

Problem:
Don't want to install a septic tank. If an RV is available, suitably equipped, it can do for short periods of time. Perhaps this keeps the regulators at bay for a period of time. Want a sheltered place that can be climate controlled, and would allow me to stretch my legs without having to go outside into the elements.
Brainstorm:
An idea for using the trailer. Make a box ( "coffin") that can fit on top of it. Make a stand that it can sit upon
on the property when the trailer isn't available. Trailer can be put together and taken apart any number of times. When not in use, can be stored in van, as it is now.
Procedure:
Fix it up so that the box can slide onto the stand, with a winch, and the trailer can be disassembled and taken with me. Use the van to pull another trailer that can transport the car into town where I can earn a few bucks to make ends meet. "Boondock" in town, and then return to the ranch. Reassemble the trailer, and put the box back on top of it. It is a portable RV. When the box is on the stand, it's a storage shed. [ regulators will see shed when I'm gone, a small trailer RV when I'm on property]
Further details:
Will required detailed drawings and such in order to construct it properly. Experience has shown that
winging it won't work out too well. Might want some help in the construction.

Fascinating 4.22.16
A low tech sculpture is made into a water harvesting device. Just the kind of thing that I was attempting to with my off-the-grid project in W. Texas.
I had a rider this morning with whom I had a discussion of this very topic, but this story, I just now discovered.
Today is Earth Day, but that is not why I am posting this. Earth Day is bunk.
Not clear on what is being accomplished with this device. Does it clean up dirty water? It relies upon humidity to condense back into water, presumably cleaned by the process.

Another reason Cruz is not Reagan
You've got to hand it to these so-called conservatives. They are out there, working their jaws again, hoping to "persuade" people to their point of view. Only thing is, I think they are losing people.
They lost people in New York. You don't insult the people who you are trying to persuade. The Cruzers are doing that very thing, as if that is an effective persuasive device. It is a lot easier to persuade oneself of someone else's stupidity than to admit to one's own. It is pretty stupid strategy to insult people then expect them to come around to your point of view.
Winston Churchill didn't do this. He respectfully disagreed about Munich. If he acted like the so-called conservatives, he would have insulted them and called them stupid for what they did in Munich. Instead, when England was faced with one of their darkest hours, but finest hours, Churchill was very generous and kind to Neville Chamberlain, even though he was tragically wrong about Hitler.
Ronald Reagan didn't do this. He invented the 11th Commandment of Politics- thou shalt not criticize another Republican ( in public). It seemed to work for him. He won 49 states. He managed to get Democrats on board, too.
Donald Trump did not do this. For all of his alleged whining, I cannot recall him throwing blanket criticism around the way these guys are doing. If he loses the nomination, he will blame the GOP for being unfair, but it is only because that is the truth. If it isn't unfair, why have hashtags of #nevertrump? Never? Even if he wins, fair and square, it's never?
On the other hand, if Cruz loses, it will be low information voters. It is insulting. Just like "New York values". That plays well if you want to play the Us. vs. Them game. It's red v. blue uber alles. This is the kind of thing that chases off people who might be inclined to agree, but you make yourselves so disagreeable, that they won't join you.
They are always trying to insult somebody else's intellect. There are others who feel that they are just as smart as you are, but do not agree. So much for "persuasion". It isn't about that. It must be about reassurance. They have to loudly proclaim their superiority in order to assure themselves of it. However, not everyone seems to be impressed with their self proclaimed superiority.
Nobody can expect to emulate Reagan if they don't want to learn some basic manners.

Trump is against N Carolina bill. Wrong answer. Like I said before, issues, issues , issues. Not crap, crap, crap. Stuff like this loses it for the Donald. The right answer is that it is a local issue not a national issue. Businesses, esp. corporations, should stay the hell out of it.
Conservatives lost me when they started getting diarrhea of the mouth. Now it is Trump's turn, evidently.
It looks like neither one of them can get their poop together.

Trump is screwing red state conservatives in order to block out Kasich, who was expected to be his main competition in the blue, liberal northeastern states. Trump has made the short term tactic of moving left against Kasich, because Cruz is going to be a non factor there.
Trump may be conceding Indiana, and a few other states that are left. California is also Kasich country, so this positions him well in Collyfornia.
Something gave today on the political scene. It is now definitely FUBAR.

Nothing works anymore

I'm having a bad day. What gave you that clue?
Trying to pay bills but the webpage won't let me. They want you to go automatic I don't want to go automatic. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? See the movie Falling Down. Note:
The guy name Defens goes on a rampage because they won't serve him breakfast when he wants it. He asks that question and they say "we don't do that here". Bingo.
Anyway, this is how entire days are lost. But I don't have entire days to waste. You see? I don't have time for this. I don't even have time to complain about it here. Just trying to give people an idea of how things are, ahem, Falling Down.
But nobody listens, why bother? Sounds like a broken record? Yep.
Update:
The van is now running. For the moment, at least. Rather obvious corrosion around battery terminals. Cleaned them up and left it running for about 30 minutes. Started it up again, but it complained. Let it run some more. Started it up again, but this time, not a hitch.
Evidently, there's still a problem. Alternator is putting out current. Battery cables may need more work, but maybe the battery is getting weak. It shouldn't be. It is only a year old. But sometimes these batteries don't last. This one should have. I remember paying a premium price for the darned thing just so I could avoid crap like this.
Maybe neither of these. The starter and solenoid have been replaced since I bought it. Already gone? It shouldn't be. That mechanic is going to have a sad face if he has to work on this again. He'll want money that is for sure.
Like I said...
Oh, about the bills. I can pay by snail mail, but that is a pain in the arse. The internet is about convenience, right? Whose convenience? I'm $50 a month for this?

Rush Limbaugh commented upon this segment on his TV show. The libs think all conservatives are like this, said Rush. Of course that is false. If anybody does this these days, it would be an unhinged lib. It is commented upon on YouTube as funny. It is funny in a way, but I am thinking it may be closer to tragic. The Defens character does die violently. "I'm the bad guy", he says incredulously at the end of the flick.

The van seems okay, checked it 3 times today. Got my bill paid. Had to use the desktop to do it because this thing locks up on a pop up. There's a setting that may need changing, but that means a lot of time and aggravation.
Life is too complicated these days.

Something's got to give
TIME, THE OLD BUGABOO
When something is got to give, then something will give. It is just a matter of time. Yes, that old bugaboo with mankind. We are all here but for a short time. When time runs short, something has got to give.
So, that's the idea with this post. The Shortness of Time. Here we all are, busy in our everyday lives, and suddenly after a number of years, you may be confronted with that bugaboo. You will have to do something about it. Something will have to give. And then it does...
Here I am, following the Big Scene, with this blog. It is about the election now, and how I don't like certain candidates, and prefer another. It is that way with us all. Not everyone will agree, but time is running short. Something has got to give.
While I am doing this, things are happening in my own life. I'm getting older all the time, like everybody else. Nobody gets any younger. I bought some land out west, but I don't have the time to go out there, don't you see. It takes too long to accomplish things, because I am not a young whippersnapper any more. Things keep going wrong, like with my old van. It won't start, and I got to figure out what that is. There's no money to put into it to keep it running. It had better be something simple, and if it isn't... Something has got to give. The van goes and so does the land. Poof! The last two years down the drain.
TRIAGE
Triage is a time management technique. When you cannot save everybody in a disaster situation, you have to save as many lives as you can. There's no time to save everybody.
The technique has applications elsewhere, but gets another name. Just say managing one's time better. Prioritizing based upon limited resources. Time is a limited resource. You might hear something like this-- "I don't have the time". When you don't have the time, something gets lost in the bargain. It may be your own life. Just saying.
EXHORTATIONS ARE NOT ENOUGH
But that may be all there's time for. If the exhortations don't do it, something's got to give. It may be YOU.
You may need somebody to help you, but they've got their own troubles. No time for yours. Exhortations take up little time.
THOSE WHO CAN HELP ARE BUSY WITH THEIR PIETY
It is easier to holier-than-thou when things are going your way most of the time. People will recoil at that, most likely. It's just the truth, but you can't say that in this age and time.
Look at it this way. People are the most civilized when things are going well. When things start falling apart, the more animalistic survival mode goes into effect. Civilized behavior is a luxury one has when things are going well. When things don't, something's got to give. ISIS, anyone?
THOSE WHO MAKE BAD DECISIONS NEED HELP, NOT EXHORTATIONS
But they are not likely to get it because the pious are too busy with their piety. All this may sound socialist. And that is how they get you with their materialism. But when the stuff hits the recirculation device, there won't be any more time. It will be every man for himself. He will forget his piety, and will work overtime to save his own skin. Just like everybody else. The socialist is busy with his piety. There's no atheists in foxholes.
I've been there. Not pointing fingers. It just the ways things are. Something has got to give. If it is a matter of me vs. you, I'm taking me first, because I am more important to me than you are. That's the way it is. Some things will never change. [ Bruce Hornsby and the Range starts to play in my head]
GETTING CLOSER TO HOME
Like the Grand Funk song. It was said to be popular with the men coming back from Vietnam. Things have a way of getting distilled down to the essence when the bombs are falling, and the bullets are flying.
Let me go home and be pious again, dear Lord, while Satan grins a ghastly grin.
Believe or not, this is not a sermon. It is just the truth. You all know it too. But you won't admit it.
I knock Cruz, but Cruz is a young whippersnapper who has to learn a few things. That's assuming that he ever will.

Voting for Trump over Sanders should be a no-brainer
But that is not what the early polls say. The USA is slipping into the quagmire of the left. Al Fin has a good article that should be front page news every day from now to the election. Unfortunately, it won't be. The indoctrination of the young may cause them to vote in such a way that will doom their own future.
The talk of voting for Hillary is incomprehensible as well, unless you have the mind and spirit of the oligarchs.

The Donald Trumps Cruz In The Big Apple
Nearly a clean sweep. Kasich may get up to six delegates. Cruz won't get anything. He finished a distant third.
My reaction isn't much. I get a little satisfaction, though, to see the skunk skunked. Ever been around a skunk? I remember smelling something bad once after being outside, and I had just walked inside. I checked my shoes- maybe I had stepped in it, but no sign of that. But there was this big, undeveloped, open area to the north; and the wind was blowing from that direction. A skunk! They DO smell up a joint. That smell had carried a couple hundred yards at least. When I think of Cruz, I think of that story.
Cruz can't win. He may not be able to win on the second ballot either. He's just stinking up the joint.
Cruz only has a little over 500 delegates. He needs 700 more. That means he has to get a lot of delegates elsewhere. There will be a tipping point in which it becomes all too apparent that he cannot reach that level even on the second ballot. After that, anything can happen.
Cruz has a regional, not national, appeal. It is becoming obvious, but apparently not to him.

I see Kasich wants to inherit Cruz's Savior Mantle. If Cruz is a skunk, then words fail me to come up with what he is. Crazy comes to mind.

Globalism hits a snag
Interesting read by Richard Fernandez, formerly of the Belmont Club. What's bad news for everybody else seems to make our own bad news seem less bad.
The Globalism Kool Aid seems to have lost its punch. Spiked with poison, perhaps?
A comparison is made to rats. How interesting. Rats may have been the cause of deforestation on Easter Island. The explosive overpopulation of rats there soon ate themselves out of house and home. The globalist variety of rat can be said to be doing something similar. Clever way of putting it.
Update:
Why is globalism failing? The simple reason is that the theory behind it is not being proven. The theory is that if world's wealth is spread out more evenly, then the world will be at peace. The globalists will deny the spreading the wealth part, especially the so called conservative branch, but the effects are the same in any case.
Combine this with Limits to Growth, and you have a recipe for another world war. For whatever the merit may be of spreading the wealth, Limits to Growth will ensure that not enough wealth will be created in order to spread it sufficiently. Indeed, the wealth creation may stop completely.
With Islam seeking conquest in any case, it may have been doomed from the start. Islam will seek to dominate regardless of financial condition. The Islamic thirst for conquest is unquenchable.
A more complex reason is beyond the scope of this piece, and I'm not the one to write it anyway.

Limbaugh says he is catching hell from Trumpsters. As for me, I've been giving him the business for a long time now.
I suppose these people haven't given much thought on what comes after when they try to dump Limbaugh. It is a lot like dumping Trump. There will be a reckoning.
Yet these anti Trump people act as if they have been personally wronged. Don't get that at all. It's okay for them to carry on, but if anybody responds to them, well, there's going to be consequences. It seems like the bully complex. The bully doesn't like being defeated. If he is, then he becomes dangerous.
But then they could say Trump's that way too. Problem is, they won't accept Trump under any circumstances. Even if he were to be conciliatory as can be, they'll still oppose him.
I'm changing more and more to the Pro Trump side. There something significant in Trump and I'd prefer that it not go away. However, in doing so, I note that the anti Trumpsters seem to be determined that he doesn't win the Presidency. I'm not backing out because the other side's threats. If Trump is to lose like this, then so be it. The other side is just sore losers.
If Cruz won, what would I do? It's hard to sit out if Sanders wins out. If Hillary wins, then it is twiddly dee twiddly dum. Would the other side sit out if Sanders won? Yeah, for the same reason!
So Trump equals Sanders? Yep, I betcha they think like that. In a way, they are right. The public is asserting itself. For me this is better than having a criminal like Hillary run and win. It is incomprehensible to me that anyone on the GOP would vote for her. On the other hand, not at all incomprehensible. Hillary is the symbol of unaccountable elitism.
Is Trump unaccountable? If he is, I will oppose him. The accountability is in the vote. Nobody makes you vote for him. If he runs and wins, and tries to stay in even if he loses, then I am going to oppose him. Like all their other charges, I think this "strong man" stuff is more like the thing they like. It is projection.
I won't ever buy Cruz's talk. I think he lies even better than der Slickmeister.

You need the cachet
The Trumpsters were there all along. They couldn't do anything on their own, but needed a guy with cachet, like Trump, to take up the battle. Once the GOP betrayed, they were in the deepest doo-doo, as the Trumpsters only needed someone who could lead the charge against them.
The reason the Cruzers are upset is because The Donald stole their thunder. But Cruz had better learn something first. Cachet doesn't come without paying your dues. Cruz has been around, how long?
It worked for Obama only because the Establishment wanted it to work.
But the primary is still ahead. We'll see.

Rush is right, but he is wrong too
It's not really a good thing to be critical of Rush, if you wish conservatism to succeed. If Rush is flushed, that's it. There's very little left of conservatism that is holding up. Most of it is crashing at this very moment. There may not be very much that can be done about it. You think a "but" is coming, you're right.
Rush has taken sides. Now he is pretending not to. His dilemma is not to disillusion one side or the other. But sides have already been taken. He took Cruz's side. He cannot change that unless he annoys the Trumpists, as he calls them.
This is primary evidence of what the left has done to this country. Rush used to be able to say that he was in relentless pursuit of the truth.[maybe he still does] Now he cannot tell this fact to save his show. It is crippling him, and maybe he doesn't even see that himself.
I support Trump now, but I am not a Trumpist. I am in favor of truth. That is why these two got to the top of the heap. They were fighting PC, which is untruth. Now, they are bringing themselves down. This threatens to bring the whole house of conservatism down.
If only Rush could say that. Evidently, he can't, or he won't. [pause button here, then...] Perhaps he is, and I'm not seeing it on his website, nor listening to his show. If I can't find it on his website, then he may not be saying it, or not saying it succinctly enough. Maybe because he is unaware of it.
I don't know what to make of it, but to think that he has been co-opted. I hope that I am not being unjust. Just to be sure, I will read today's entries from the show. [no time] If it isn't there, the post goes up.[ didn't see enough in the article] It will be beyond control, because not everybody can listen to every word.
It gives no pleasure to write that, believe me. After that sentence, I continue to read the article I linked to. Yes, it is critical, but it is important to me.
Rush is right on theory. But the risk is in its practice. He's betting that ideology will win because he believes in it. That's why he picked Cruz. I'm not of the same opinion. I think ideology can blind you to the truth.
I am inclined to agree in theory about free trade, for example. But in the real world, becoming too dependent upon other nations for everything puts us at grave risk.
The truth is that, in this business of politics, the votes in the general count more than the delegates for the nomination. Sure, Cruz can get delegates to be nominated, but he is unlikely to win the final vote tally. Cruzers are missing that point in their determination to prevail. While doing so, they are inflicting damage upon their best interests and those of the party in general. Do they really believe that they will be forgiven for this, if they seize the nomination from Trump, who has proven that he can get more votes? It will be a Pyrrhic Victory at best.
Rush points out that he is only explaining this. Sure, but he took sides too. All the better if he could just admit that. Otherwise, it just looks unfair. I respect his opinion that ideology wins. But I am doubtful of that in practice.

Houston weather makes the news
Yeah, and it isn't over either. It won't be over for several days yet.
Glad I didn't go out into it. A guy flooded out his car, and had to be rescued. Made for good TV, but the reporter did save the guy from a bad end if he didn't get out of his car.
Despite the warnings, there are people who still think they can beat the water. To tell the truth, I have taken risks myself. So far, I haven't drowned. Don't brag too much, cuz ya never know.

Earth Day coming up
The first Earth Day was in 1970, which means I was still a long way off from graduation from high school.
I have faint memories of that day. Seemed like there was no harm in it. Like a lot of evil things like this, that's how it all gets started.
Evil? Yes, evil. It is evil because it is false. It is based on the premise that human beings are destroying the environment because of our reliance upon technology. The irony of all that is that during this period, the molten-salt reactor was nearly perfected in the laboratory. The molten-salt reactor would have made energy at a rate cheaper than coal, and therefore, would not only have led to zero carbon emissions, but also enabled recycling through the use of plasmas.
It is evil because it does not do what it claims to do, which is to protect the environment. For the so-called Greens are opposed to nuclear energy as well. The hysteria associated with nuclear energy has a lot to do with ignorance of it, and that is what the left loves to promote.
It is evil because Jesus said that Satan is the Father of all Lies. The left rejects Jesus. Therefore, the left is evil. The left teaches that there is no Heaven nor Hell, therefore no Satan. It corrupts the youth, and look what that has gotten us. Cruz!

Keep in mind that the Trumpster was wronged when the agitators on the left, who are running the Cruz campaign, or seem to be on the left, because that is what they act like, accused Melania Trump of posing nude. This is false, and Trump's response was inappropriate, and now old news. But they can't let that go, so Trump had better find a response.

Cruz equals Tracy Flick?
That's what Ann Coulter thinks. When I first read this, I shrugged my shoulders. Who's Tracy Flick? A little bit of searching obtains that answer. Just a movie character. An extremely ambitious girl wants to run for class president, but has some competition. She is willing to do anything to win. Is that Cruz?
All I know about Cruz is what his campaign did in communications with me. It struck me as too ambitious to trust even before Coulter ran her op ed. So, yeah, I think Cruz may be a tad too ambitious.
Making this kind of comparison may not get an impact.
One approach that might could be a serious discussion of historical figures. You know. Hitler, Julius Caesar, guys like that. I'm saying serious. I know the Hitler comparisons get beat to death, so that may not fly. Caesar though, that might.
What about Caesar? That Caesar was a brilliant general and politician, there could be no doubt. It also so happens that Caesar ended the Roman Republic. Hitler ended the Weimar Republic. Neither of these men cared much for their respective republics. But Cruz says he does.
Anything that smells suspicious should be cause for concern. Just saying.

Video claims that according to US law, obtained from a US government website, that Cruz wasn't even a citizen at birth.
Evidently the anti Cruzers can't make this stick, but he definitely shouldn't be able to get away with claiming to be Mr. Conservative. But these Cruz bots don't care about that anyway.

When you read the Wikipedia entry about Cruz, you may well be impressed. So it can lead to the question of whether or not I'm being too critical. Then I come across the part that he favors originalism. It is a principle of interpretation that says that the meaning of the Constitution was fixed at enactment.
That is really strange considering that the Framers would probably have considered him to be ineligible to run for President.
Cruz is one strange fella. I don't think he should be trusted.
Cruz and the Natural Born Citizen clause to the US Constitution
There are many comments on the blog, but one post drew several. This post was about this issue of natural born citizenship with respect to Obama and the potential candidacy of Marco Rubio.

Why post the Declaration of Independence?
Just wanted to bring it to your attention. Here's Cruz running on the idea that DC doesn't listen to the people, then he goes to Georgia and steals delegates from Trump. The Establishment has given its blessing to this type of affair, and thus is acting like a Tyrant.
Only time will tell if the public will accept this, or reject it. Of course, I hope that Cruz loses badly in an ELECTION, if only the GOP would actually allow one.
You never know what the public may do. They may actually believe the torrent of lies that will be used to justify this.
This is bound to backfire at least on some level. Whatever they are doing, it is not to win an election. Evidently, they don't believe in them anymore.

I had a delayed reaction to something I read well before I wrote the post. After writing this, I checked a little further, and it looks a little bit like what Cruz has been doing all along. But the way I read it before, it looked like Trump was being screwed out of his delegates that were won in the primary itself. In other words, Cruz is aiming for a second ballot victory. This reading of the story is a bit more benign, but the principle still applies. Cruz didn't win a single delegate in the district by his electoral performance, but somehow loaded up the delegation with his own supporters. Doesn't seem right to me.
It may be "by the rules" technically, but it still seems shady. Just my opinion.
Only time will tell if the public will accept this, or reject it. Of course, I hope that Cruz loses badly in an ELECTION, if only the GOP would actually allow one.
You never know what the public may do. They may actually believe the torrent of lies that will be used to justify this.
This is bound to backfire at least on some level. Whatever they are doing, it is not to win an election. Evidently, they don't believe in them anymore.

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Not only that, but by the laws that you and I must follow, Cruz cannot get a US Passport. That is because you need a US Birth Certificate for that, and Cruz doesn't have one. Sure, he can get a waiver, but could any of YOU get one?
The precedent of Barak Hussein Obama should not be cited as an excuse to overlook this.
Here we have a guy who claims to be an All American, and he is all Canadian.
This is what happens when you don't fight against something. Now, after 8 years of Hussein in the White House, the saviors of the republic want a Canadian to be Commander in Chief. They say it is all about principles! Are you shitting me?

This doesn't even get into the discussion of what natural born means. Of course, Cruz is running on the premise that he is a true conservative. How can a true conservative run on a rather liberal interpretation of the constitution? Natural born means natural born, that is, if you are a true conservative.
It doesn't mean that a Canadian born man can run for President, especially when his father wasn't a citizen at the time of his birth.
