Dry Pour Concrete--- Alligator texture ( pure Cajun)
I've poured concrete a few times. This idea of doing it dry really appeals to me because to mix it up requires a clean up afterwards. Also, as they mention, you can do this at your own pace. As long as it's dry, it isn't going anywhere ( unless it's windy outside ).
The alligator texture is a nice touch.
Starship lifts off pad ok, but success wasn't 100%
Just about 2 1/2 hrs ago, SpaceX's Starship lifted off its launch mount and into what was hoped to be a near orbital trajectory. Things went pretty well at first, with all 33 engines working nominally throughout the separation. As planned, all but three engines stopped firing, and the second stage lit up. It looked like a good separation, as the second stage powered away, the booster flipped as planned.
About that time, things seemed to go wrong. The engines lit up for a boost back burn, but went out quickly. It appeared that another attempt was made to light up the engines, but shortly afterward, the booster exploded. Evidently, it was an intentional self-destruct.
As for the second stage, it went nearly the full distance for its planned burn, but shortly before it was to end its burn, it also appeared to blow up. It was not clear that this had happened, but was the author's impression. It is also possible that a malfunction necessiated another self-destruct, but word has not been given as to what exactly happened.
All in all, the initial impression is of a nearly fully successful test. There did appear to be some failures, but the extent of these has yet to be reported as of this writing.
It is becoming clear that several more launches will be necessary before the system can be said to be operational. It is obviously getting closer to that goal. This launch went much better than the first.
Here's some video with different camera angles:
More video showing the stage separation in slow motion just prior to booster self-destruct
It appears that the engines weren't lighting up properaly. The graphics show more engines lighting up than the video can actually show. The outer engines cannot relight, but a lot of the engines on the inner rings didn't light up, in particular those on the right side. ( see graphic on lower left corner )
I resynced the telemetry bar with the video of MECO & Hot Stage. Now it's more obvious the order of engine shut down, relight and failure on the boost back.

Why is an American soldier holding a Red Chinese flag?
There is something really wrong about this. If I was in the military and got an order to do this, I would refuse. But I grew up in the Cold War, and attitudes were different back then. They didn't teach kids to be anti-American, for example. They taught the opposite. How things have changed.
My father fought in the Korean War. I miss him with all my heart, yet I am grateful he never had to see an American serviceman holding a communist Chinese flag. pic.twitter.com/ACk9GgXK00

Evidence destroyed in the Georgia case?
Fraud up and down the line.
Did you know there is an ongoing court case in Fulton County, Georgia (where Atlanta is) since 2021 whose only aim is to inspect 150,000+ mail-in ballots alleged to be fraudulent (no creases from being sent in the mail, perfect black circles, etc)

Megyn Kelly goes after an internal enemy, but who are they?
The key to it all is the anti-American propaganda. The media is owned by a handful of corporations. These corporations aren't necessarily loyal to the USA. The New York Times is owned by a Mexican billionaire. Looking a bit deeper, the academic system is funded heavily by Qatar. Qatar is the Muslim Brotherhood. Is there little wonder then, that the sympathy is with the devils who killed babies?
George Soros has been accused of being a Nazi sympathizer during World War II. He practically owns the Democrat Party.
Chinese money floods our country. Who's getting all this money? Biden may have gotten his share. It is notable that the new Speaker quashed an impeachment of Biden. He also green-lighted a new flood of heavy spending, which is bankrupting our country's finances. Who benefits from this??? If you want to know your enemy, it is better to do it with your eyes open. Most folks still don't get it.
To the parents of all of these losers suddenly persuaded by the deranged musings of the man who murdered 3k American innocents: you failed. You were likely boozing, marching for some L-wing cause and/or simply ignoring your kids. You failed to teach wrong from right, a proper…

Chip Roy throws down gauntlet in furious House Floor Speech against Uniparty Republicans
Nice speech. But does it move the football down the field? Or is it just another punt? We've got to do better, and the speech is okay, but what can be done???

When all else seems to fail, fight harder
I've made a few minor changes on the blog, and made a resolution to try a bit harder.
Here's some of the problem here--- smart phones. While you are at it, ban that Tick Tock thing. As you may see, I've heard of it, but I'll have nothing to do with Tick tock-- Red Chinese propaganda.
As for propaganda, Americans are getting saturated with it. If the GOP would get its collective head out of its ass, there would be a lot of investigations into how our entire culture is getting saturated with anti-American propaganda.
During that Chinese visit to San Fransicko, no American flags were allowed. Is this Chinese territory or ours? Maybe considering the state of that city, plus others that the Democrats have ruined, maybe we ought to let the Chinese have them.
Ah yes, then there's this one. While Americans are rotting in the jail, without any formal changes ( which is illegal ), there's this as you see below. How many will hunted down using their cell phone data, and charged with a crime? If you guess NONE, go to the head of the class. Americans are letting themselves be hunted down by the use of their own cell phones. All the while, they are being accused of insurrection, while that couldn't be true because if it was, why would they be such easy targets? Meanwhile, the real insurrectionists get away scot free. And the GOP in the House gives them even more money than before... It ought to make you think, but I'm not so sure that's happening yet.
If I’m to understand this correctly….in Washington DC, you are allowed to burn down historical churches and tear down statues….but the DNC headquarters is off limits? https://t.co/TGJXGl9Fg3

YouTube blocked me from seeing this
The link was from PowerLine blog. Not exactly a "far right" website. They are more like a "centrist" website. Which was rather striking to me in more than one way. They have their share of Never-Trumpers there.
I was able to watch the video at the link, but when I clicked on it to embed it here, youtube refused to connect. What's up with that???
Incidentally, there was a visit from Chairman Xi yesterday in San Franscisco. I'm sure he didn't leave his heart there. You'd have thought that it was the Star Wars movie when the bad guy was waiting for the boss to show up. The boss was Darth Vader.
Now look how they got San Francisco all cleaned up for the Chairman's arrival. Who's the boss here? Need to cue up the Star Wars music for this one....

"I Fail To See What This Has Bought Us": Antoni Questions Why Congress Continually Ramps Up Spending
No such thing as "renewables" when it comes to energy.
Saw the above on the Instapundit site, and I wondered whether any of this is actually accomplishing anything at all. That's because the same results follow. What good is it, then? You can try to get people to understand something, but it like talking to a wall. The words just don't make it through to their brains, and the results keep coming in the same.
So I looked at this word "renewable" when it comes to energy. Why is this language accepted? Why not examine the language being used, and take it apart? Instead, it all get internalized as being valid and useful in our conversations. But the word is useless, because it is meaningless. There is no such thing as renewable energy. All energy dissapates into the greater and greater entropy over time. That's why there is no such thing as AGW. But people accept the language, and thus accept the premises. The trouble with that is that the premises are false. Which ones are false? Damned near all of them as far as I can tell!
So the House Speaker, who is supposed to a "conservative" just got something passed that shouldn't have seen the light of day. These things happen for a reason, and maybe the reason is that nobody bothers to think about what the hell they are trying to do. Why post something like that link does above if you are opposed to what it is all about? It's boggles the mind that people keep doing this. Talking against it is like talking to a wall.
end update:
The GOP has sold out again. US House passes another continuing resolution that funds liberal priorities. All of this has occurred under a "conservative" Speaker. The spending is unsustainable. But nothing gets done, even under a GOP led House. Even after a Speaker is replaced, they keep doing the same things. What will it take to turn this around?

California Dreamin' Mamas and the Papas
Wikipedia says this song heralded the arrival of the counter-culture. It was written a few years before the Mamas and the Papas made it more well-known. This song reminds me of that time, as I am old enough to remember being played on the radio back in the day. Another of their songs comes to mind too. That's Monday, Monday. I liked that song because I hated Mondays, which meant going back to school. I hated school.
BREAKING: Elon Musk Confirms Starship Flight Date
There's bound to be a launch despite the fact that has been reported repeatedly, and no launch. Eventually they'll finally have it right. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Ground News calls these a lack of these articles a "blindspot"
Why is it not a "blindspot" to challenge so-called "climate science" as being real science?
The trouble here is in accepting the premise of anthropogenic climate change as gospel truth.
The premise behind Ground News is that truth can be found through the use of the Marxist dialectic. You cannot "split the difference" with truth and falsity. If it starts out wrong, it stays wrong even if the difference is split. Same with truth. A half-truth is still not the truth. Don't fall for the Marxist game.
Update a little bit later...
The Chinese have a derogatory word for white liberals. This was in connection to AGW, it seems. I don't know what you call someone who believes in fairy tales. Maybe just a gullible fool. Anyway, the GOP candidate used the word, but didn't really say what it meant. But I suppose you could get a fair idea.
LOL - Vivek knows and uses the term ‘baizuo’ - a derogatory term Chinese use to describe pathetic white liberals. Hilarious he knows this and applies it to climate change policy: pic.twitter.com/pAIGlvhaVj

Socialist coup in Spain?
Update on yesterday's post:
Here's some news about the subject. The story isn't covered in my usual haunts on the web. Is there some sort of black-out?
One thing that is familiar. The so-called right "won" an election, and cannot form a government. Sounds to me like a plan. It's a "conspiracy theory". That is, anything that doesn't jibe with what the powers-that-be want you to think is a "conspiracy theory".
end update:
This is the first I've seen of it. What happened in Spain? I guess we'll never know.
There may actually be over a million Spanish patriots protesting today in Madrid against the socialist coup
