Does it have a secret meaning

An interpretation of film The Big Lebowski

Not too long ago, the song by Kenny Rogers came to mind. It was a song made while he was still doing rock 'n roll. The song was called Just Dropped In ( To see what condition my condition was in). I recalled a segment of the film "The Big Lebowski", which featured the song.

The interpretation seemed to be that it represented the "weak male" that has come to dominate Western Culture. It seems that almost all the males in this flick are ridiculously incompetent.

As for why it came to mind, I cannot say. Just one of those things. I looked up the song on YouTube. Subsequently, YouTube gives some suggestions for further viewing, and it turned out to be this intepretation of the film.

The film has become something of a "cult classic" as the saying goes. To me, I am of the opinion of the interpretation in the sense that everyone in the flick is absurdly incompetent and foolish. Another thing I cannot say is why the flick has gained a following.

But here I am, blogging about it. Why I am blogging about it, I cannot say either. Maybe there's nothing else to do. Or could there be some deeper reason????

There's nothing to post about because things are going pretty well now. No news is actually good news. If stuff were to be going wrong, I'd want to make note of it, and think up ways to deal with it. But nothing is going wrong. Perhaps I'm jinxing myself?

I'm looking around for new things to do. Did some yard work this morning. That's not really off-grid, though.

I've played small ball, so far. This comes a bit short of the ambitious goals I had in mind at the beginning. Back then, I wanted to be able to run my domicile on solar panels only. I'm far from that. Just 400 watts of solar panels is not going to be anywhere in the ballpark of the original goals.

The lessons I've learned ( or think I've learned) might enable me to put together the rest in a short time. So, how much of a leap do I need to make?

That's what is called a "good question". It all depends upon how much of the modern conveniences that I want to keep. Getting rid of the air conditioner may be too ambitious. To get rid of it, I need to go underground. That's a non-starter where I am now. It is also a non-starter out west, because it would be a pain in the neck to pick up everything and move. I'm stuck here for the time-being.

It would be relatively easy to go "bigger" without actually going "big". Another "beast" plus 4 more 100 watt panels is a possibiltity. I wouldn't necessarily have to build a stand for it. Just use the "wall" I recently built. It would need some more bracing. It may not be big enough for 4. Then maybe two 200 watt panels. That may be pushing it a little too far. Now I had 3 panels in parallel once upon a time. Now that can fit.

For such a system, it would require pretty much the same as what I have now, but it really wouldn't add any capability. I'd like to run something heavy duty for short bursts of time. Even the a/c! But I'd like to get away from big power draws. Therefore, it could run the dehumidier. It could run one for a few hours per day. What I've got now couldn't do that. At least it couldn't without unplugging some other stuff I'd rather not.

If a dehumidifier ran, it would take the humidity out that the swamper puts in. It would have to have its exhaust directed outside. I wouldn't know if this would improve performance any, but I could experiment a bit prior to building anything. Now that is an idea. Relatively clean water could be a bonus.

An upgrade to a second swamper to run off the water thus collected would be a possibility. This would keep the southern end of the trailer cooler. That's where I sleep.

Knocking around some ideas, but no moves are imminent. That's all for now... Time to think it over.

Just read the news today, oh boy...

The first words of a Beatles song there... Yep, just read the news today, oh boy...

It's hard to put into words what I've seen out there in the webs. An example? Some dude on CBS is claiming that to support the LAWFUL right to keep and bear arms is akin to slavery. Yep. This kind of drivel gets treated as a serious opinion. For somebody in a position that some would regard as authority, it is scary. These people are in a dangerous bubble. You can only believe that if you are mind-bendingly crazy. Slaves don't carry guns, so who is pushing slavery onto the people? The projection is sickening.

Another example is the opinion that the Democrats may be planning to steal this election too. Well, they're always doing that. It's just that they are getting better at it, and they're getting a lot of help from some Republicans. The idea that the Democrats can EXPECT to be re-elected in the midst of such mis-governance is in itself mind-boggling. But Biden is out there projecting "confidence". Confidence in what???

Truth is hard to come by. Some of these headlines are pure clickbait. To get you to click on it, and then don't deliver what you might expect. No examples to offer on this one, but it did happen a couple times this morning as I perused the web.

It is remarkable that, in an age where massive information is at one's fingertips, there can exist such a dogged attempt to mislead people. Even when it is found to be wrong, it persists anyway.

Goebbels would blush in such an environment. But we are told we are a free country. Darkness is closing in on us all, but hey, "weesa free". Take your guns, stick you with the death jab, lock you down, and shut you up. Still the land of the free, and the home of the brave. Riiight.

So far so good on the testing of the solar power system. It has run all day with no shutdowns. The second power module( pwm2) is charging the first one (pwm1). Maybe I should shorten the abbeviation again to #1 and #2. I get tired of trying to remember stuff. This designation is easier for me to remember. Therefore, #2 is the "beast", and #1 is the one I've had for months now. Hope that is clear.

Now my attention turns to managing what I have, and maybe to optimize it. A couple kilowatt hours doesn't do all that much. But what it is doing now is enough to make me happy. But being the greedy mother that I am, I want more. So now I'm thinking-- how to make this work even better?

There's not a whole lot of spare power left, but there's some. Small tasks can be handled without using too much. One small task would be to pump water on the roof. That would cool down the place a little. Plus there's an unutilized sprinkler thingie I installed years ago. It used too much water, but what if I put a switch on a small pump that put about a gallon up there at a time? It's at an idea stage. More thought is needed. Not to mention so more hardware, which I don't have at this time.

If that works, it will lower the power requirements just a little more. There are a couple more ideas, one already partially enabled. That would be the wall. There's no wall on the south side. If I were to put one there, then most of the sun would be blocked from hitting the sides of the trailer. That would help some more. If I could optimize all this, perhaps the need for an a/c would go away. Or it would be minimized. An a/c uses way too much electricity for a solar power system like mine. A "beast" could handle the a/c, if properly configured with a beefy bms. Number 2 doesn't have a beefy bms. Not only am I greedy, but I am cheap. Beefy bms's aren't.

A bigger solar power system may be feasible, but I'm not anxious to do that just yet. Yeah, it costs too much moola...

By the way, there's probably not enough power to run the dehumidifier for long. It doesn't produce enough water to run the swamper for long anyway. But the water is good enough quality to be put to use. But not to drink, for goodness sake.

I COULD run the dehumidifier in the early morning when humidity is the highest. It could collect maybe a pint or two before it would have to be shut down.

That's it for now.
