A pity that the weak-kneed GOP enables this double standard. The country deserves better.

There should be more primaries to run out the deadwood types.

Ruth Buzzi RIP

Ruth Buzzi has passed away. She and Artie Johnson did this comedy routine on a regular basis. I remember it well.

Divided they rule, so here it comes

Conservative Nationalism is a new name for the same old sheet.

Trump is gathering victories, but I suppose that is too good for us. Too much winning, I suppose.

Anyway, if leftists win in liberal lands like Cana-duh, it isn't a loss for Trump. These guys that the commies beat on the "right" aren't allies, nor do they wish to be.

It's the same old political bullsh!t known as the "political spectrum". It is designed to always deliver victories for the commies. Note that the people using them like to refer to themselves as on the "right".

If they aren't in on the swindle, they might as well be.

Trump bypasses Boeing to get an newly refurbished 747 Air Force One

Behind the Black Blog

Comment:

The incompetence is alarming. Boeing makes planes. Or used to...

Boeing should be required to refund the US Government any and all funds with respect to their failure to deliver on a contract.

But if that were to happen, Boeing just might go bankrupt. Then what? Sheesh.

Al Fin: "China's losing its grip"

Vicious mothers aren't they?

New York looks like a fascist dictatorship. Kinda like Hitler's Germany. As for Germany, they are up to their old tricks. They want to ban parties. The last time they did that, der Fueher was in charge.

A modern day OJ Simpson trial dead ahead?

Wasn't this guy the one who shot down a man in the middle of the day in front of the whole world? Now he says he is innocent? Will justice be done here? Or will NYC descend into chaos? The rule of law is on trial in the most liberal city in America.

The Media is pulling the wool over your eyes

6:56 PM:

Blogging was light today. There was a doctor's appointment today. Doc says I'm doing fine. Trouble is, more tests and doctor appointments must be done in the near future.

But that news doesn't go with this post. So to get on with this update, I note that the latest economic reports seem to favor Trump, but are being politically spun to look unfavorable.

Which reminds me of a quote of Solzennitzen, a Russian dissident from the Cold War Era. He said that you should only trust your own crooked eye. It is a wry joke about human nature. People don't always tell the truth doncha know. That's how you can look at the "news". Trust what you see with your own eyes. The official version of events may not match what you can see for yourself.

8:36 AM:

In a post that is presumably about the jobs report, the CNBC fails to mention the jobs numbers. Instead, the media outlet decides to discuss the Federal Reserve. What does Trump say? Here's a discussion of that on Truth Social.

Basically Trump argues that he knows more about interest rates than the Federal Reserve.

What we COULD get if the media was interested in enlightening the public:

---We could get a discussion of Trump's claims.

---We could get a discussion of why the Federal Reserve is "independent". The Federal Reserve isn't elected, nor is it accountable to the people. However, no discussion is presented to show why this is a good thing.

Nor does Trump offer anything except his own claim of superior expertise. Well, at least Trump is accountable. He cannot legally run for President again, but he can be removed from office by the political act of impeachment. This is unlikely because of party divisions in Congress. He is still accountable in theory. Is the Federal Reserve accountable at all?

I would choose accountability over non-accountability. The media may not be explicitly saying so, but they are holding Trump responsible for an economy that can be deliberately sabotaged by an unaccountable official, and doesn't explain why this is a good idea.

War with China?

You can tell a war is brewing from all the propaganda being spewed about.

China wants to replace the USA in terms of importance on the world stage. This has been building up for at least a decade. I'm thinking that it's been on the Chinese radar since the beginning. They are communists, after all.

America has freedom of speech. It also means that China can propagandize in the USA. Let the USA try anything like that in China. Nobody can criticize China. Pretty soon, you won't be able to do it even in your own home country. Think about that.

On the other hand...

It is hard to see what Trump's goal is with this talk about Canada. Even though Alberta feels disrespected in Ottawa, they probably won't vote to leave the Canadian union. So, what's the point here?

There's no apparent chance that Canada will disintegrate and there's no chance that they'll vote to be the 51st state. It makes little sense for Trump to insist upon it. Besides, it makes absolutely no sense for Republicans to invite a mostly liberal bunch of folks into the union.

If this shows anything, it shows little respect for the USA. That is all the more reason why we need to firm up our policies with regard to the rest of the world.

Despite all the massive whining about DOGE, very little has been accomplished. The Federal deficit is still wildly out of control. Congress is useless.

The leftists are ruining all of Western Civilization, and this is all we can do?

This is not very impressive.

Cana-duh votes to continue suffering under commie misrule

Fear makes you stupid. Canadians do something stupid because they get whipped into a frenzy of fear of Trump. Polyview wouldn't have done anything meaningful anyway. He's a cipher, like most of the GOP is in the USA.

The result is more of the same garbage that they claimed to be sick and tired of.

AGW skepticism isn't naughty

4/30/25:

Certain Europeans are dismayed at Trump's first 100 days.

Then you have the Canucks, who elected a guy who said America betrayed them. Betray?! I was reminded of this German girl who posts on YouTube a lot. What does this German girl have to say about America and Americans? So I looked her up again on YouTube, and she doesn't have much to say about politics and such. But she did have something to say about "facts".

It seems that we get a lot of lectures from the world on the subject of "democracy". We get a lot of lectures from the world about a lot of things. Like from China. China gots its communism from a bunch of disgruntled Europeans from the 19th Century. Wasn't Karl Marx a Jew? If he was, then we get a lot of lectures from the Asian followers of a disgruntled European Jew. I have to laugh.

Germany has the gall to lecture us about Democracy? China has the gall to lecture us about the work ethic? Physicians, heal thyselves. We are doing just fine. At least for the moment.

8/1/22:

Maybe I have too much time on my hands, or maybe I'm just wasting a lot of time. The reason I write that is that I'm watching a lot of videos these days, and some of them are from suggestions from YouTube. One of these suggestions seems to be from a gal called 'Feli' from Germany . She has lived in the USA for five years or more, and she puts up a lot of videos.

One of those videos said a few things that she still cannot get used to in America. Of these things, she mentioned the lack of belief in facts. I found that a bit of an odd thing to say. It did cause me to give some thought on what a fact actually is. In other words, I looked up the dictionary definition of what a fact is supposed to be. Basically, the definition given boils down to what's true or not true.

It would be strange for someone to accuse someone like me of this. Yet that is kinda the direction she is going. The definition mentioned did not go far enough of the philosophy of knowledge, ie. epistemology. Epistemology of the study of knowledge. After all, what IS knowledge? It may well to give it some thought.

Not everyone agrees on what is true and not true. Even in science, the "facts" can change. So, when someone says that you don't believe in facts, you are really saying is that people disagree with what you believe the facts to be. If someone powerful says something that is obviously false, they can punish you if you contradict it. The point being that the thing that is regarded as true is often colored with the effects of authority. A high profile example from history is when Galileo contradicted the Church, and was punished for it. History has confirmed what Galileo said, not what the Church said at the time.

I've written many times on this blog that the truth is a slippery thing. You may not have a grasp of it even if you think you do. The point is don't be so 100% sure about everything. There is the possiblity of error.

I do not find the arguments in favor of authority to be persuasive. So the appeal to authority of some finding of such a number of scientists who claim something like AGW to be true must not the final say on a matter. If they say it, it is also subject to error. Even the best minds have been wrong in the past. That's why we should have the right to disagree. Most would agree NOW that the punishment of Galileo to have been in error. That wouldn't have been the case THEN.

It may well be the case that AGW skepticism is in error. It may well also be the case that AGW is bunk. My approach is from the skepticism side. I'm not going to allow others to do my thinking for me.

It is ironic that she talks about science and such, and that it isn't a belief. Yet, what is the source of her belief in AGW? Is it not also in the way of religion? Or even more so?

What is the most reliable way to truth? Probably not the way it is done today. What is likely today is a lot like what was likely in Galileo's time. In that time, which is considered primitive, authority was being used to suppress free discussion of what was being set forth as truth. For his trouble, Galileo was punished. He was punished for being right.

There would be those who would respond saying that Galileo shouldn't have been punished because he was the true authority. Nope. He shouldn't have been punished because his was the less accepted view at the time, which is what argument from authority did to him.

NOBODY should be punished on that basis. In other words, freedom should be honored. This is the best way that we have at getting at truth, in my opinion. Compulsion has the least place in the quest to arrive at the truth, not the preferred place.

UPDATE:

Germany's recovery from COVID the weakest of any advanced country.

She also included her assertion about COVID, as if it were gospel truth.

Skepticism of what the authority says is essential to a free society. When that is shut down, you can get some really bad outcomes. Like an Adolf Hitler.

That may be playing it rough, but there's that pesky truth thingie again.

Pathological distortion

An intervention is suggested...

An idea whose time has come?

What are Goldbacks? Here's a FAQ's page .

If 1 goldback equals 1/1000th of an ounce, that would mean it would be worth about $3.50, since the gold price currently is about $3500 oz.

Interesting idea.

Could this be expanded a bit? What if you were to replace the US dollar with a currency that would be backed not by debt, but by something of value. Such as Goldbacks, for example.

You could then pay off all the debt with goldbacks, and save money on interest. Interest payments are becoming too cumbersome to service. Either spending is cut drastically, or the currency is expanded to a degree that may cause massive inflation.

There may be objections to the creation of currency out of thin air, but that happens already. Why add to the problem by having the additional burden of debt? Make the currency worth something in itself, so that people will want to own it.

It's an idea. We need something because the leftists are shutting down everything. We need to open things up. When the leftists shut everything down, inflation must result. Opening things up will actually do more to tame inflation than to keep interest rates sky high.

The real purpose of sky high interest rates is to cripple the economy. In so doing, the schemers will try to pose as white knights that will rescue us from the disaster that they created themselves.

Dick Morris is a has-been

Dick Morris advised Slick Willy. That might seem like a gold star for him, but to me, it is an albatross.

Slick Willy favored the Chi-Coms. Limbaugh was all over that, but nobody listened. Slick Willy enjoyed big approval ratings because the stock market went up and up. Now that the stock market is in a gigantic bubble, the thought is to protect all that paper wealth, while China robs us blind.

So Dickie boy the toe-sucker is saying that China is folding? Nope. To declare a victory now is grossly premature. China is embargoing rare earths to us, but they are willing to accept stuff that they can't make for themselves. That's NOT A VICTORY. If they embargo us, we embargo back until they end the embargoes. Otherwise, they are getting stuff that they can steal. Let there be no doubt that they will definitely steal whatever they can get their hands on.

If Trump listens to Dick Morris, he is making a big mistake. If he listens to Morris, Trump will be like putty in the hands of the Chi-Coms, just like what we've been getting the whole time.

The leftist propaganda machine v Trump

What does Trump say in his own words? Well, here it is from the social website "Truth Social".

People will believe what they want. Just remember that the political left had Trump removed from Twitter. If Musk didn't take it over, and if Truth Social had been suppressed, you'd never hear the other side of the argument. That's how the political left rolls. But they like to preach about freedom and democracy. Bah!

Oh Canada goes into the next act of this farcical tragedy

So Carney does his "strut" after his "victory". Well, the victory may not last. We'll see. Anyway, a sensible response from Canada would be something like an American common market. The free trade agreement that is in place is NOT that. The Canadians impose large tariffs on certain American goods. There's protectionism for ya. The trouble with our own so-called "free trade" advocates, is that they do not consider the full effects of free trade uber alles. The effects of unfettered free trade was the hollowing out of American manufacturing. That is what Trump is trying to reverse.

The pinkos and their useful idiots on the the so-called "right", will try to obfuscate that. Hopefully for the future of everyone on the North American continent, Trump will begin to clarify things SOON.

Ivermectin, the cancer fighting drug?

Even if you seem to have it under control, there's always this lingering worry that it could come back. What if you could knock it out for good?

P.S. This is not to be construed as an endorsement of Ivermectin for treatment of cancer. I'm looking into it, that's all.

Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one ( updated )

4/28/25:

The report seems to be out. One rhetorical question here: Why does it take all this time to belabor the friggin' obvious?

It costs money for an investigation. All they can tell you now is what you already knew from the beginning. Whoop-de-doo.

2/18/25:

An update on the investigation. I watched 18 minutes of it. Discussion is mostly focused on the altitudes of the two craft involved in the crash. See video below.

2/4/25:

NTSB confirms helo was too high. Comment: Not a lot of info in this article. Apparently, that one little bit of info is all they ran the story on. But it is something. It means that the black boxes and the radar data with respect to the altitude, weren't that far off. There may have been some reason to think there may have been a discrepancy. However, even if there is a discrepancy, the fact remains that the chopper was out of its "lane", so to speak.

2/1/25, 11:33 AM::

Did the (army) helo leave the base without authorization? Reading through the comments brings that possibility into play. Base was said to be requesting helo to return. Shouldn't have left without one other person, and the take off may not have been authorized for this type of flight.

1/31:25:

Me too. A reaction to this tweet, ya'll.

Comment:

Like it or not, the choppers are allowed to do this near a busy airport, which seems crazy. Anyway, it has been a regular thing, and that alone is not a reason for why the crash happened. HOWEVER, the crashed chopper did appear to be TOO HIGH. These choppers are restricted to 200 ft and below, and must stay on the far bank of the Potomac. This chopper that crash was at 350-400 ft, and that's too high. Notice in the video here how low they are to the ground.

I agree with the tweet that this seems crazy to me. There's a lot of info out there, but all of the sudden, it has dried up. I'm trying to pick up on this investigation again, but it is proving to not be so easy. Incidentally, that's how I came across that info about regular chopper flights in this area. That was quite interesting bit of info to me, but now I can't find it again. But there's other stuff. This tweet is one.

Note: this post got a bit discombobulated, and I can't explain it. Two tweets got mixed up, and how does that happen? Anyway, the chopper appears to be in the wrong place. That's all I have on it now.---end @ 2:49 AM 1/31/25

9:29 AM:

There was one video in which an experienced pilot said that helo altitude could be kept as low as 100 ft, so if the collision was at 300-400 ft, the helo was in the wrong place. The black box will tell the tale of the altitude where the collision occurred. There's a report that the black box has been recovered.

There are other reports, but I will classify those as noise. You don't go into motivations as a possibility until you know exactly who is in the wrong.

Update: 2/1/25, 9:38 AM This is why you don't report on everything you see out there.  It's the Bongino Rule.  I suspected that the rumors of transexuality were just that.  You need confirmation of info like that, and to report it as soon as you see it could be a mistake.  We still don't have all the info on the pilots, so you really can't say for certain if it has been completely debunked.   The investigation is just getting started.

Freedom has two sides; one side is toward failure, the side is toward success

Which will it be? Is America terminally stuck-on-stupid, or will we climb out of our stupidity and rise to success once again?

Shame on ZeroHedge for treating this young communist as worth hearing.

On being stuck on stupid

Calling another person "stupid" probably won't cure any stupidity that may exist. People will think whatever they're going to think.

Nevertheless, I'll offer some thoughts upon the subject. Why not?

If you've heard of the saying that ignorance can be cured, but stupidity cannot. However, I would not agree that this is always so. Maybe due to the hard-headedness of people, the stupidity will endure almost anything short of two slugs to the forehead.

How can stupidity be cured? Can blindness be cured? Sometimes. If blindness can be cured, a stupid person can actually become intelligent. That's because stupidity is kind of a mental blindness, in my opinion. If you are blind to something by choice, then you will remain ignorant. By extension, that will entail the choice of remaining ignorant, even though the ignorance can be overcome with training. A choice to remain ignorant, therefore, is stupid. But this kind of stupidity has nothing to do with innate abilities. It is the willful blindness that makes a person stupid by choice.

Therefore, stupidity can be cured. But that is only if a person wants to really know. Otherwise, a person remains willfully blind. It's hard to do anything about that, unfortunately.

America is being mugged, slandered, and murdered

And those responsible want to pose as the knight in shining armor coming to the rescue. Do you know who I'm referring to?

Is the culture war deepening?

To answer cancel culture with even more cancel culture? That seems to be the ticket for some folks out there. How broad is that sentiment, really?

If you had to choose between a "woke" business, or an "anti-woke" business, what would you choose? Or would you prefer not to play that game?

Up to a point, I've been playing that game. But to go whole-hog on it is difficult. You have to really be committed to the culture war to play this game really hard. But there are people out there like that.

Know what I mean, Vern?

A reaction of sorts to the 80's movie--- The Mosquito Coast

I went to the theater back then to see this movie, so it isn't exactly new to me. Since all of that time, I suppose a fresh perspective can be applied to it.

Trouble is, I don't recall what the original perspective was. If it was anything, it was that the main character was nuts. It didn't go with the usual kind of character played by Harrison Ford. Or did it? Ford played some off the wall type characters before in some or perhaps most of his movies. Well, this character outdid anything he did before, or since.

It may have weaned me off of Harrsion Ford movies.

That was then, but what about now?

That one may make me squirm a bit. A lot of that character I see in ME. In particular, Ford's character was an off-the-grid character before the off-grid thing became a thing. But I've never been an anti-American type. Give it some time though. The way this country is going, nobody is going to recognize it anymore.

Ford's character had a kind of messianic notion of saving the world. That could put you straight into nutcase territory. I'm not in the neighborhood of being anything like that.

I've got a practical streak a mile wide. I'm most interested in what WORKS. Funny thing, Ford's character had something that worked, but he wasn't satisfied with getting it to work. He wanted to force everybody into his mold.

To me, the sensible thing to do would have been to market it. Well, time to run. Things are getting a bit interesting around here.
