Still don't like bullshit

9/20/25:

As mentioned before, the movie is divided into three parts, but is presented all together as one on Tubi.  So, I've now watched all three parts.  The two movies are basically the same with some differences.  One of these I will note here.  Perhaps it is too much of a spoiler to write too much about it.

The Overlook Hotel is actually a character in the story.  The Hotel is after Jack in the Kubrick version.  In the King version, it was after Danny, the little boy.  Also, the Hotel got Jack in the Kubrick version, but didn't exactly get Jack in the King version.  Also, the King version has a "happy" ending.  Or to put it another way, a "happier" ending.

I suppose that is enough to write about it.  I don't like either version, to tell the truth.

9/19/25:

There's a mention of the movie "The Shining" recently, and that I watched the author's version of it. Or part of it. I wrote that King's version is too long. It seems to be divided into 3 parts, each of which is an hour and a half long. That's a long time to sit through a movie.

I lost my patience with it, and turned it off. But curiosity got the better of me. I watched part of the rest. There's a third left to watch.

So, "upon further review", I'll still say that I don't like it. But I don't like Kubrick's version, either. The trouble with making movies is that there's a part to it that isn't plausible, and that part you have to accept, or you won't like the movie. There's too many of those in either version.

So, I'm not likely to approve of either of these movie versions.

If I ever made a movie, it would be too much like a documentary. People like lies, apparently.

When out of power the Dems love the First Amendment

But when in power themselves, they do hate it so. The murder of Charlie Kirk was cancel culture of the permanent kind.

The motive isn't hard to figure

Back to this dreary subject...

What is this song "Bella Ciao"? Wikipedia write-up on it here. It wasn't a song for Italian partisans during the second world war. Wikipedia doesn't say this, but I think that Stalin pushed it on Italy. The Cold War was about containing communism. Stalin managed to push communism into China, with effects that can be felt to this day.

So here's the Wikipedia article on the Italian Communist Party.

We won't ever know the motive my ass.

A project whose time may not ever come, but if it did...

Could something like this power a massive object towards an Aldrin Cycler type trajectory? It appears so, in theory. The trick would be to overcome resistance to the idea. Alas, such a trick would impress the likes of a Houdini.

Anyway, if it could put that much mass into orbit from the ground, it could certainly get something larger to a destination requiring much less delta-v.  If it were deployed from the far side of the moon at the La Grange point, the delta-v would be even less, and no hazard to Earth.

This should be on the other blog as it is getting speculative... but what the heck?

Light powered AI chips

This tech has been written about elsewhere going back years, it isn't entirely new. What could be new is that something has happened that will make it take off. The concept is simple: if you can use light instead of electricity, you can do the same or more with less energy. Given the fact that data centers are energy intensive, this could be a big deal.

SpaceX doesn't know why it works, but will use it anyway

In the posts about the phenomenon originally known as "cold fusion", the criticism seemed to follow the doctrine that if you cannot explain WHY it works, then it is a fraud. Clearly, in view of SpaceX's undeniable success at landing the booster on a tower, that doctrine is not always correct. That's because SpaceX doesn't know why it works, when the models say that it shouldn't.

Perhaps there's something to learn here that could be applied to so-called "cold fusion", or "low energy nuclear reactions"?

I jipped it at approximately where in the following video that you can hear it being said. The Starship heavy booster is a real thing, not fake science. If it weren't for Elon Musk's willingness to try it, we'd never know that it could work.

Now you've done it

9/18/25:

This business about defending Democracy is another straw-man argument.  More of the politics of "shut up".  Democrats cannot admit wrong.  These self-appointed "defenders" cannot admit that it is wrong to kill a man, or to celebrate a murder of someone.  So now they're the victims.  The "defenders of Democracy" are the victims for having to kill a fascist. Woe is me, these heroic defenders seem to be saying.

Show us all where Charlie Kirk went wrong. We won't say you should be shot for it. Evidently, that is how some of these people seem to think is their right to shoot someone that they disagree with.

The straw man argument is that all the MAGA folks want a Nazi fuhrer type in the White House.  That MAGA wants fascism.  But nobody in MAGA land is defending Adolf Hitler nor fascism.

9/16/25:

"The straw man cometh", or "the shitstorm cometh--- read the comments, please".

I'm going to embed a video from the 1990 Swartzenegger flick "Total Recall". It's when Sharon Stone says "now you've done it". The political left has done it this time. They've managed to stir up a shitstorm of resentment that may lead to even worse things to come. Just sayin'.

The defense of "he acted alone" won't cut it, because a significant number of their group approves of the murder of Charlie Kirk. That's what has gotten people up in arms, or thinking of going kinetic. Know what I mean, Vern?

There are those who may say that this is a bad example. After all, Cohagen was the bad guy! Arnuld was the good guy! But wait a minute. There's a bit of a problem. Arnuld's character may actually have been in a dream, and not in reality. That bit of ambiguity was included in the final scene. It leaves a question: "what IS reality"?

The post modernists think that you can make your own reality. Hence their apparent insanity, or the certain appearance of such. Does that so-called "philosophy" actually represent reality? Only in their own fevered dreams.

Sexual deviancy connected to the assassination of Kirk

So there's this video below, which shows the two men engaging in some type of sex act, and one of them is in this bear costume. Is this any connection to the "furries" thing? A kind of sexual deviancy, or so it would seem. People do strange things.

Incidentally, Steven King did not like Kubrick's version of his book, The Shining, so he participated in the making of a film more to his liking. It is on Tubi, and I watched some of it last night. Way too long. I watched about half of it.

King said something recently in connection to the assassination, and subsequently apologized for it. I think King is a bit wacko.---9/18/25, 11:28 AM

Ace has some more info about this "furries" business. Not very edifying. We live in a corrupt world. Very sad.

Starships to be transported to Florida using a "watership"

Great SpaceX YouTube video

It looks like a barge, but they may take this thing through the Gulf of Mexico. (er Gulf of America) The plan is to do this soon, because Florida is not yet ready to make boosters and ships over there. The launch facilities may be ready before the production of ships is ready. While they are waiting for that, they can test ships and boosters at the Florida facilities.

Chip manufacturing has its challenges--- Anastasia in Tech reports

The new chip fab TSMC was building has gone online. But the job isn't done yet. Indeed, it is only just beginning.

The cultivation of the politics of hate in the young

The political left accuses the late Charlie Kirk of hate, but that's projection of their own hate.  It may not be psychological projection, which is a defense mechanism.  Indeed, it says here that it is a deliberate strategy for fomenting hatred for the purposes of destruction.  9/16/25

Updated 9/17/25:

Incidentally, if the young have this much time on their hands for politics, then that's a problem.  Young people should be working.  Idle hands are the devil's workshop, or something like that.

I've got time since I'm retired.  Maybe the young don't like old farts like me, but we do have something they don't---experience.  That doesn't always work, as there are plenty of leftist dumb-asses at this stage of life.

Andy Ngo post about Bella Ciao

At the risk of repeating myself ad nauseum, the left ( synonymous with Democrat) is out of control.

Still trying to silence those who disagree

At long last, do these people have any decency? Charlie Kirk's supporters cannot even hold a vigil for him after he has been murdered. Even a "Straw Charlie" deserves some respect for his mourners. Utterly devoid of respect and honor.

The "irrelevant" FED

9/16/25:

Evidently, the Fed is relevant to the anti-Trumpers. The idea is to defeat Trump at all points in his program. Trump wants interest rates lower. Lower interest rates will help the economy. Certainly, the higher Fed funds rate that now exist are a hindrance to the economy. The fed funds rate determines the prime rate, which affects business loans. The mortgage rates are also tied to the fed funds rate. As mentioned below, the cost of housing fits into the higher cost of living, which pretty much make the higher interest rates synegistically supporting itself in producing higher inflation numbers.

Lawfare and Operatives Including Norm Eisen Using Fed Governor Lisa Cook as Tool Against Trump Administration

9/14/25:

Jim Rickards has an essay out.

I think there's an error in his chronology. He poses as an expert, and he may well be. But when there's an error, you have to wonder if there are others. The error in question was that a rate cut hasn't happened since 2004. Unless I am dreaming, this is incorrect. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding his meaning. Wasn't there a rate cut not that long ago? Plus there were many rate cuts after the Great Recession hit.

He paints a gloomy picture. But in his his other writings, he paints a rosy picture. So which is it? "Happy days are here again", or "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow, we will DIE"?

There's one bit of info that he didn't mention: the connection of mortgage rates to the Fed Funds rate. If the Funds rate is high, mortgage interest rates will be higher, for they are pegged to the Funds rate. If the Funds rate was lowered, mortgage rates would be lowered. In the latest CPI numbers, the housing component was the one rising the fastest. Could it be a manufactured rise due to the high interest rates?

I'll trust the President. There's a lot of second guessing going on. But his instincts seem to right most of the time. The main significance of Rickard's essay was that the FED's independence is a fairy tale. It's part of the second guessing of the President that is going on. Unfortunately, there's a bit much of that right now. Including this doomy scenario Rickards paints in his essay.

Mixed up people, or just liars?

You cannot be a true conservative and support political violence. A small number of such "conservatives" say it is okay. But 25% of liberals do. It's not "liberal", either. It's outside the bounds of normal, and it is to put it bluntly, a criminal attitude.

The Democrat politics of "Shut up" has silenced a conservative stalwart

9/15/25:

Scooby doo! Where are you? That's actually funny to compare it to Democrat's obfuscation of their left-wing violence.

9/12/25:

Assorted notes for this update:

Yesterday was September 11th. It was an anniversary of the infamous 9/11/01 terrorist attack on America. There's parallels in how the Palestinians celebrated the death and destruction on that day; and how liberals celebrate the murder of an American patriot today. The smarter ones at the time toned it down. Eventually, it all started up again, and here we are.

The smarter ones may well shut their mouths again for awhile. Some of them are doing so. However, I think it is well to remind everyone of their past behavior, and that they don't really mean it.

Mother Jones (lefties) cites a bunch of quotes from so-called right wingers as evidence of plans for retribution.

We are marching towards a low-trust society. Paranoia is running rampant. Truth be told, we may all be falling into that mode of thinking.

Late night notes after reading more on Charlie Kirk:

1) Did Marxists create the term "capitalism"? What about the so-called left-right "political spectrum"?

2) What about Reagan's ex-KGB ally? Need to tie these together because they are VERY important concepts to grasp.

3) The public has been psy-oped into believing this political spectrum thing, and Charlie Kirk was probably over the target with his "radical" free-speech approach to confronting leftism.

4) But "radicalism" is in the eyes of the beholder. For one's side, a "radical" is a hero. The other side, the same person is an arch-villain.

This wasn't a well-thought out update. But it is all I have for now. More like notes for further explication on future posts. This may be all for now.

10:57 AM:

11:52:

Shucks. If I had waited a little while, I could've included this breaking news... The suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, has been arrested.

Let the wheels of justice turn, and let's move forward.

9/10/25:

Politics of Shut Up video.

Charlie Kirk has been murdered. I must confess that I do not know who he was. For those not familiar with him, here's a link: Who was Charlie Kirk?

He seems to have been doing a great job. My regrets for not knowing something about him. We seem to be getting the usual classy Democrat response.

Morning after:

American Greatness has an essay on Kirk here. By the way, this violence is a troublesome development, as the killer remains at large, and there's not much to go on. Looks "professional", says FBI man. That's omninous when an assassination looks professional. It's like you need to be VERY careful these days.

"Charlie Kirk's blood is on the left's hands"--essay.

"The Incredible Articulation of Charles James Kirk."---CTH My Comment: His voice has been silenced, but the volume of his words has increased. Perhaps very much increased because he was murdered for his importance. His importance was in his words.

Obama says we have no idea of the motivation for Kirk's murder. Like hell we don't.--7:11 AM:

"What is to be said?"--Powerline blog

Comment:

There's a few links to that Powerline piece that shows Charlie Kirk in action. There's not enough time to review those today, as I will be busy later on. There's a lot out there, and likely to be more to look at later. But this will probably it for me today.
