I'd bet less than 1 in a million will know the true reason why we are on the wrong track.
If I'd guess about the zeitgeist, the majority might say that the rich is getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. This is misleading. The truth is that everybody is getting poorer, but the rich suffer the least. So, the resentment focuses in on the rich. Taxing the rich more isn't the answer anymore than killing the goose that lays the golden egg will produce more golden eggs.
I think that we are on the wrong track because the zeitgeist has drunk the kool aid of the Limits to Growth crowd. So, we end up with politicians who want to spread the wealth as opposed to creating new wealth. What we get is less wealth and more equality, but that equality comes at a fearful price. That price will get more and more fearful as the Limits to Growth philosophy becomes hard wired and institutionalized. We are almost there now.
This Limits to Growth zeitgeist has all but rejected nuclear power. But the rejection of nuclear power all but guarantees that future growth will become impossible. Read the link above to see my reasoning upon this subject. Boiled down to its most salient point is this: an advanced society requires kinetic energy, which can only be supplied by nuclear energy. The physics of this cannot be willed out of existence. It cannot be bargained with or reasoned with. It cannot be fudged. There is no other way to continue growth but by embracing nuclear energy. It's all in the physics.
So, we have to make a choice. Go backwards into chaos and self-destruction, or forward into a new golden age of growth and prosperity. The way towards that is nuclear energy. It is against the paradigm at the moment, but that can change. The only way to change that paradigm is to get the message out. You can be sure that the Limits to Growth crowd do not want this message to get out.
Where did the Limits to Growth idea come from? Was it one of the Frankfurt School ideas? It has been long known that Marxism seems to take root amongst the poor nations as opposed to the richer nations. As a nation prospers, so does the allure of Marxism.
The Frankfurt School came into being because of this fact. It wasn't supposed to be that way. The Revolution was supposed to be in the rich nations.
So the Marxists started trying to tear down the rich nations. Lo and behold, the USA, being a rich nation, has to be convinced that its properity is a bad thing. So now the population has been indocrinated in this Limits to Growth, and whaddaya know? The USA has suffered from low growth from all these years. It is almost as if that was somebody's IDEA.
So now we've got AI threatening to create all kinds of new properity, and these Marxists just cannot have that. Hence the leftist attack on AI.
Make no mistake. AI just might get DANGEROUS. So can fire. But we didn't abandon fire. If it wasn't for fire, we'd be living in caves with no hope of ever getting out of the caves.
In other words, there's trade-offs. The Marxists don't want us to abandon AI. Nope, they want to control us with FEAR. Then they can control how much the world will grow. It will only grow as much as the Marxists think they need it grow.
Marxists didn't abandon fire. They didn't abandon electricity. They didn't abandon the airplane. Or the internet. Or anything else. But they sure as hell want to be in control. It is about power with the Marxists. If they want to scare people about AI, it is only because they fear losing control.

Why Trump seems unpopular
Not too long after 9-11, blogs were a new thing. It is also before Twitter and Facebook came along and sucked all the oxygen out of the room. There was a guy named Bill Whittle, and he wrote a piece in his blog, which was called Eject! Eject! Eject!
It was largely about the tribes people are in. He called them pink and grey. The pink tribe is basically the left. The grey tribe is basically the so-called right.
Rather than rehash all he said, I want to focus in on a particular stretch of the rather long essay. He spoke of the Vietnam Colonel who said there were basically 3 kinds of people. He said there were 1) wolves 2) sheep, and 3) the sheep dogs.
As you might expect, he pointed out that the wolves feed upon the sheep without mercy. It is the sheep dog that guards the sheep. One thing about the sheep dog. The sheep don't like the sheep dog. The sheep dog seems a lot like the wolf. But the sheep dog never harms the sheep. The sheep dog protects the sheep.
I remember this passage and I think of Trump. Why don't people like Trump? The reason is that he seems too much like the wolf. He does mean Tweets, for heavens sake. The sheep are as frightened of the sheep dog as they are of the wolf. Perhaps the sheep do not understand that sheep dog means no harm, and actually to the contrary. I see Trump like the sheep dog. The folks just don't appreciate the guy, and what he is doing for the country.
Instead, they'd rather listen to the wolves in sheep's clothing. That would be the commies. It isn't the Democrats. There was a time when Democrats weren't out and out wolves. But they now taste the sheep's blood, and they're developing a taste for it. Beware the wolves in sheep's clothing.
The commies are making something of a mistake though. They are being a bit too blunt about their intentions. When James Carveille said to add two states and pack the Supreme Court, then the sheep SHOULD'VE recognized the wolf shedding his sheep costume. That was a grab for power that only a wolf would even think of.
When 9-11 happened, people were looking for a sheep dog. That is where the sheep will instinctively turn when they sense they're in danger. They sure as hell didn't turn to the Democrats. The Democrats have turned to a wolfish state that the commies inhabit. You cannot tell the difference anymore. Indeed, there isn't any difference.
Trump is helping the country. The liars, meaning commies, are trying to convince you to be afraid of the sheep dog. This is a misdirection intended to fool you into trusting them. If they can make a grab for power like this, they should NEVER be trusted.
The Constitution was written in such a way that the sheep can be productive and FREE. The wolves intend to take away the Bill of Rights and the Checks and Balances, which keep the government in check. Why would anything but a wolf want to do away with those protections?
Trump won't do that. But Carville has already spilled the beans. The modern Democrat party WILL do that. They want the sheep to believe that Trump is the wolf, but they lie. Don't believe it. The commies are the wolves. Make no mistake about that.

Texas was admitted as a state via a joint resolution
A short post here to correct some misconceptions about how Texas entered the Union. I've seen it around that folks think this was done by treaty, but a treaty for this end FAILED.
When James K. Polk was elected President in 1844, since he was elected on an expansionist platform, an admission to the Union by treaty could not be accomplished. So another way had to be found, and the Joint Resolution was the solution to that problem.
Why the misconception? Since I'm rather suspcious these days, I'd say someone put it out there deliberately so as to mislead people.
I asked the AI about it, and confirmed it. I figured I knew my Texas History well enough, but a fellow Texan didn't.
If Texans don't know this, how can the rest of the country know it??
Not that that is any excuse.
Can the Democrats add states through joint resolution? Yes, but the AI says that the President can veto it.
Let me tell ya, if there's a way to get around that, the Democrats will look for it.

Here's another jip. I skipped over the intro, and got down to business. Bongino
asks, what are these guys doing (meaning the Democrats)? It seems that they have nothing real to run on. So they dance and so forth. This is in contrast with Trump, who actually DOES things.

Accusations based upon no evidence CAN be used to stir up trouble. The article link describes two such cases-- one in the past, and one in the present.
Here's the trouble: If there's no freedom of speech, the other side of the story does not get mentioned. If you have only one side of the story, you are going to be misled.
Keep in mind that the DSA wants to eliminate all the checks and balances, and end the Bill of Rights. Don't think so? Based upon what I've seen that is what they're planning.
For example, if the filibuster is removed, then they can pass any law they want. Even if it is plainly unconstitutional. Why? They want to pack the Supreme Court with their own people--the same people who want to end the 2nd Amendment, and you might as well include the 1st Amendment as well. All the other rights in the Bill of Rights will go too. No checks and balances. No Bill of Rights. Just one party dicatorial rule by communists. Review of the Movie "The Arroyo"

There is one HUGE difference between this movie and No Country For Old Men. The latter was deeply pessimistic. However, The Arroyo was optimistic. That's the big difference.
You are left with a feeling of helplessness in No Country For Old Men. The Arroyo was intended to be an anti-dote to that helplessness.
In short, WE CAN WIN. WE OUGHT TO WIN BECAUSE WE ARE RIGHT AND THEY ARE WRONG. You gotta believe that, or what's the damned point????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I don't think I've ever posted anything about the "obvious" connection between "The Arroyo" and "No Country for Old Men".
Next thing that is "obvious", is the question of why would they pattern it upon another movie? Perhaps Declaration Entertainment missed the boat. The reason for the movie being made was a sort of protest against the kind of movies being made in Hollywood.
Of course, it has all gotten worse. Hollywood is worse than ever.
Declaration Entertainment was going to do another movie that might have been a knock against Star Wars and Star Trek.
If Declaration Entertainment missed the boat, what might they have done differently? Maybe having a sense of humor. They took themselves a bit too seriously. Like we all do. That's our problem.
Note: I used scare quotes around the word obvious. If it was so obvious, then why didn't I notice this sooner? No answer except that it seems dumb in retrospect.

Just spent a bit of time perusing some reviews of the "documentary" about Cleopatra. I won't link to it. Just mentioning it here in the context of what Bill Whittle tried to accomplish a decade ago. It is also worth mentioning there was a movie that re-did Barbie. Yep, it was not well-received.
So there it is again. Just a whole lot of belly-aching, but doing absolutely NOTHING about it.
I tried. I contributed to the movie "Arroyo". Modestly contributed to it. If people would just get off their asses and DO something, good things MIGHT happen. But noooooooo. Hollywood Stasi, an old story
It appears that those Americans who oppose the powers-that-be cannot sustain a movement long enough for it to reach fruition. That is a fault that should be remembered first BEFORE you start bellyaching about the political left. We've been down this road many times before, yet the results seem to be the same. It is the continual drift to socialism, societal decay, and failure. The fault dear Brutus, may lie within us.
Nothing will change until there is a sustained movement that cannot be denied. This is what Paul Krugman and his ilk are so afraid of. Krugman called it "movement conservatism". There's a clue about the left that Krugman may not have wanted to be emphasized. He called it "movement" conservatism. The only kind of conservatism that the left likes is the kind that doesn't move. In other words, it is dead, or might as well be.
Hollywood can make movies that cast conservatives as villains, but why can't "conservatives" do anything about that? Oh, but there's a lot of bellyaching. You're not going to change the left, but you can certainly beat them at their own game---provided that there's still the opportunity to do so.
Declaration Entertainment attempted to do that. But the "conservatives" failed to rally behind it. Perhaps because there wasn't the perceived need. Has that changed? So you get this post on Instapundit, which is a link to somebody who wrote a post about the "Hollywood Stasi". It just seems to be in the mold of talking but not doing anything about it.
What to do? Conservatives need to get the "fire in the belly". Also, to see alternatives being brought to the market, while we still have one. As Dan Bongino says all the time, we need an alternative economy. We have to be able to impose real financial pain on the left, or there won't be alternatives to the left anymore. One way is to compete with Hollywood. Hollywood is anti-conservative. Companies like Declaration Entertainment could have provided that alternative in that economic space of making movies.
There's more to it. It is a comprehensive plan and movement that is needed. That's what the left seems to have had so much success with. They've had that success because nobody has had that fire in the belly to see it to completion.
All talk and no action is no longer permissible. Time to get moving.

This will be a short review. First of all, a background. The movie was a Bill Whittle project. It was made by an outfit called Declaration Entertainment, which I helped fund as a "citizen-producer". As a consequence of my support, they now just got around to sending me a copy. It is also true that I dropped out after a short term, so I didn't fund it all the way to its completion. Okay, so the criticism can go both ways.
I went in thinking that this may have been a "jerk-off" fantasy, as so many things are in our society these days. To my surprise, it didn't not confirm that. However, there was an element of unreality to it that I must call out.
The good guy is injured in a manner that probably made him incapable of doing what he did in the climax. That's the unreality. But the unreality was necessary for the film to reach its climax.
It is true that, in the movies, the "good guy" wins. Even today, in Hollywood movies that Whittle objects to, the "good guy" wins. But, what is "good" and what is "bad"? That's the rub. It all depends upon where you're standing as to the identity of that personage.
In this movie, the good guy wins. After all, he's just defending what's his. Even in Hollywood, the guy here can be a hero. Nothing out of the usual here.
I think what Whittle wants to do is to motivate people into not being sheep, and start acting like free men. I applaud that. The main character is a man in that mold. Someone we used to look up to. Today's Hollywood would make this guy into a villain because he's just too macho for today's tastes. There's the difference, perhaps.
Today's men are driven into passivity. Today's men are told that it's okay for them to literally be like girls. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that that is the way some of them behave.
Yet, in this movie, the women are bad ass too. It doesn't necessarily follow the old sex type mold.
It's an okay movie. But it may shift a bit into the unreal mode in order to keep the hero heroic. That's a small fault to find. Otherwise, a movie can't be a movie without some artistic license. People have to have their fairy tales.

For instance, the Democrat Socialists ( DSA ) want to abolish two of the three branches. Is it conservative to join with that? What does it mean, then to be "conservative"? Do you favor the Constitution, and the process of changing the law, as opposed to issuing fiats in place of it? The DSA would prefer fiats. How do you make the changes to the US Constitution without the amendment process? Just pack the Supreme Court, and have the judiciat fiats determine what the law is. That isn't what the law says, but if a bunch of leftist activists say let's just have the Supreme Court change the law of the land according to their preferences, then what use is the Constitution?
How then is it "conservative" to allow this? But if someone can be "confused" enough to join with the left in doing what Carville says that the Dems should do without talking about it, then what does it even mean to be "conservative"?
I would think that a "conservative" would adhere to the process of amending the Constitution as opposed to have a block of leftist activists changing the law by FIAT.
If you are "conservative", then ask yourself if you can be so easily confused as to agree with it is a good idea to allow Democrats to pack the Supreme Court, add new leftist states that would lock in Democrat rule forever, and end any hope of getting away from the leftist activism.

Limbaugh died about 5 years ago, if memory serves. You have to go back to when he was on the air with this stuff, and the world looked a bit different than what it does now. The situation has gotten far, far worse.
In other words, folks may not have accepted what Limbaugh said, because it wasn't clear that that is where it was all heading to. If folks back then could see what came of this:
1) same sex marriage 2) transexualism and such perversions 3) in general "wokism" or as Elon Musk put it "the woke mind-virus" 4) generally speaking, I think the post modernist inducement of mass stupidity has to figure into this as well
Folks didn't see the danger. It didn't penetrate far enough into the culture to affect things enough to prevent what we see happening today. In the last Presidential election, we had the biggest dim-wit that I have ever seen just one election away from the White House. That could still happen.

In short, I think the patriarchal system that the woke crowd hates, is exactly what we need to get back to. That's because only in such a system will the culture even survive. Not only is this country vulnerable, it is in extreme risk right now.

They are building up their military strength at the same time that we have these DSA types who want to de-fund the military, and expose our nation to a pre-emptive nuclear attack.

A thought: Guilt-tripping is suicidal empathy? Update: Probably not. Continue:Most folks know about white guilt. It was spoken of during the Obama campaign in 2008. "White folks are so bad that they cannot be allowed to exist"--I've seen something like that on the web.
I can figure non-whites getting into that kind of hate-mode. But why would white people do it, or allow themselves to be brainwashed into it?
Maybe because they think it makes them good people. They're not good. They're stupid.

There is a girl from Germany who posts on YouTube. She talked about Adolf Hitler and World War II. When she got to the history of the event, she said something that reminded me of all the guilt tripping that has been laid upon the West. This is communist inspired, I suspect.
As usual, the left doesn't care about the Holocaust. They just want to use it as a political device that can gain them more power. Once you recognize this tactic, you may be able to start counter-acting it. Without any counter, you are totally defenseless against it.
There was a video posted here about how Hitler overthrew the Weimar Republic. The same kind of tactics are being employed today, which is quite an irony. The left wants to impose guilt so that they can get you to disarm yourselves, and become completely subjugated to their will. Hitler disarmed all Germans, it should be noted. Hitler had his Brownshirts. Hitler used his Brownshirts to quell opposition. At the end of the Weimar Republic, Hitler's Nazi Party was declared as the only legal party in Germany. As a coup de grace, Hitler had all allegiance sworn to him PERSONALLY.
Hitler's Brownshirts were led by a notorious homosexual, Ernst Roehm. When Roehm was no longer useful to him, he had Roehm liquidated. A Christian would not have done that. The commies have the homosexuals believing that Hitler was a Christian, and that Christians would have all homosexuals sent to the concentration camps and gassed. All fascists must be Christians, so all Christians are super guilty because they caused Hitler to come to power. Or so it goes.
Germany was put through a huge, huge guilt trip. That has spread all over the West. We are constantly reminded of the past, and how the West colonized the world. The West was responsible for slavery and degradation of the environment. You get the picture. All of this inspires GUILT. Guilt must be expiated somehow. What better way for an enemy to destroy you than to get you to blame all evil on your own existence? Then you commit suicide, as this is the only way to bring justice for all the harm you allegedly did. This is what is happening to the West. The West is characterized as evil, and the only justice is for it to be eradicated.
The appropriate way to address what Hitler did was not to go on some super duper guilt trip. It is to rationally deduce what went wrong, and to correct it so that it won't happen again. Evidently, that isn't happening, for many of the same things that brought down the Weimar Republic are happening right here in the USA this very day.
The US Supreme Court had the chance to address the issue of oaths of office in the elections controversy. They refused the case. If this was addressed, then the oath of office would be treated seriously, which it is not. If it is not treated seriously, then what prevents a private oath of loyalty, such as the one to Adolf Hitler, from being made? The Supreme Court failed us. If there is no importance to the oath, then what inspires loyalty to the document? Anything at all? If there's no loyalty to the founding document, then what is going to preserve it? This could explain the rapidly deteriorating civil liberties that is found in the USA today. If the oath is not preserved, then what preserves the right to vote, the right to free speech and association, and the rest of the Bill of Rights?
The political left has gotten a lot of political mileage out of the guilt tripping. These people make it a religion to feel so guilty. They feel holier than thou when they feel so guilty. But they solve nothing that caused what happened in Germany in the Third Reich. The errors that brought the Nazis to power are being repeated this very day. American democracy and freedom will not be preserved, because that is the Big Lie. The Big Lie is what the Nazis liked to employ, and that is being repeated here as well. The Big Lie is that the left cares about Democracy and Freedom. They only seek to use these words as a means to power. This is what they care about.

Aaron Sorkin has joined in the kick Palin chorus. It's the old emotional manipulation of laying out the old guilt trip. Sorkin wants Palin to feel ultra guilty.
Why does Palin have to justify herself to Sorkin? Why should Palin have to justify herself in hunting caribou for whatever reason? Who cares what Sorkin thinks? Evidently, there are those who do. Hence, the technique is used because it works.
The left can use this tactic in order to manipulate others. It only works if you accept their moral authority. But who gives Sorkin or any others like him the moral authority? Question their authority, I say. They don't have any unless you recognize it.

So there's this white woman running for office in North Carolina. That one is making the rounds. Hey, Trump's the fascist, right? One little problem: She seems to be advocating the use of Hitler's ovens to do in the MAGA folks. Is that projection much? All the stupidity is coming from SOMEWHERE, now isn't it? Seems to be coming from the AWFL's. This particular one in North Carolina got herself in a little trouble with her party. Although she made it clear that she intended to eat the animal, according to Sorkin, she had committed an act of murder and torture.Notice how it has to be justified on the grounds that the animal had to be eaten in order for this to be acceptable. But even that justification isn't even acceptable to Sorkin, who wants to push vegetarianism, if one is to take this to it logical conclusion.
