The totalitarian left

There is talk about a strategy to prevent Trump from either running for a second term, or serving a second term. This strategy would employ the 14th amendment to the US Constitution.

The chances for success are probably pretty good considering that the trial will be held in DC, which is a rabidly leftist jurisdiction. Trump would have no chance. Not only that, but these people would probably attempt another Star Chamber, which would be one-sided and unfair even in a evenly partisan jurisdiction.

That's why the GOP should shut this down, and to organize a response to it that will strongly deter such an attempt should it occur.

Given the GOP's rather limp history of standing up to the Democrats, the odds are probably against them doing anything UNLESS they get a pretty good scare put into them.

If they aren't scared of the people who tend to vote for them, they OUGHT to be scared of the possibility that the Democrats will be emboldened to set up a veto against ANY GOP candidated that they don't like, and who could win an election against them. In other words, this will neuter any chance of the GOP becomes a viable opposition.

If there's no viable opposition, then there is no political accountability. This is what the Democrats were attempting during their last Congressional session when they still controlled Congress. Only Manchin stopped them from passing a bill that would have done that very thing.

Washington DC is but a small part of this country in terms of population. Imagine just one city being able to control an entire nation. That's what they are attempting to do here.

So much for "Democracy". Not to mention that their case has no merit. They were trying to convince the country that Trump caused an "insurrection" all during that last Congressional session, and they FAILED. Obviously, the country as a whole did not buy their legal theories. Now, with this, only a single jurisdiction will be able to do this on its own. One could argue that "rule of law" is being turned on its head as well.

So what about it, GOP? You may not like Trump, but do you want a one-party state in America?

So what about it, base GOP voter? Are you willing to support the same guys who will give this country over to the totalitarians?
