Hitler's spies tried to tell him of the manufacturing advantage of the Allies, and in particular--America, but his ideology prevented him from seeing the truth. This failure to see the truth made Hitler stupid. A perfect example of what I've said before on this blog---ideology can make you stupid. It sure did make Hitler stupid.
