Off-grid post, 2-12-22

I've been watching some battery build videos lately. At first it was like entertainment, but now it seems like something I may want to try out myself.

The thing that is tempting is that you can build one of these things with battery parts that won't cost but about 100 bucks. Throw in a few other things, and voila!-- you have something that is actually usable. Err... usable if you build 3 or 4 batteries and hook up the necessary panels. It may be pretty cheap ( relatively speaking ), but it is still quite a commitment of time and effort.

It is also tempting to put it into the 5x8 trailer. It would be a power trailer that could be hauled around, and hooked up to something like an RV trailer like the one I've been in for the last 5 years.

All of that would be a big project, so that is what holds me back. The 5x8 needs to be upgraded a bit if something like this is contemplated. It would be no trivial matter. However an experimental project to just see how it goes wouldn't entail an installation like that. The battery isn't all that big, and one solar panel might do the trick. It might even fit in an already crowded RV.

Something to consider.
