Dirty Harry--- District Attorney Scene
It is an old movie now. Dirty Harry was made over 50 years ago. Indeed, I saw it in the theater at the time. The key point is that the District Attorney knows the Scorpio serial killer is guilty, but the law prevents him from putting him behind bars. Why mention this? It seems that the Democrats are guilty of sedition, and the Trump Administration may go after them, but will they get any convictions? I'm going to predict that they will not succeed if they try. In the movie, the D.A. refuses to go to trial because it will be a waste of taxpayer's money. But would that really be so in the real world? The Democrats will complain about wasting taxpayer's money, but it could serve the public interest to have a trial anyway, if that trial exposes the Democrat's sedition enough to harm them politically, although not enough for a conviction.
A real life example is the OJ Simpson murder case. His acquittal was shocking to me personally. However, Simpson never got back his reputation. That wasn't much in the way of accountability, but it was better than nothing at all. In an imperfect world, this may be the best that can be done. The DA in the Dirty Harry movie should have prosecuted. The taxpayer argument was just an excuse to do nothing.
