SpaceX Thinks They Know Better. Is The Water Plate Enough?

Seems to me like they are already very close to answering that question without even lifting off the launch pad. At 66% of thrust, they'd have enough to launch. A static fire is at 50%. How to bridge that gap?

SpaceX won't bother bridging the gap, though. Evidently, they believe that it won't be necessary. If they're right, they're heroes. But if they're wrong, they may be in trouble.

With so much at stake, it would seem prudent to bridge that gap. I guess we'll see when we see it.
