Patriotic song--- My Country 'Tis Of Thee

Back during the height of the Cold War and the days of the Cuban Missile Crisis; the schools had kids learn songs like this. We sung songs like this frequently. It would seem to me that this practice would rub off of a youngster, because it sure did seem to rub off on me. Patriotism was commonplace. Something seems to have changed, though.

Education may have changed to the point where this song is actually considered objectionable to some newcomers. Well, if that is the case, there needs to be a correction. All children should learn to love their country. Especially THIS country, the best country in the world.

Better here than most, if not all other places. Back in the sixties, the scenes were all about the poverty of the world. The USA was truly the city on the hill that gave light to the rest of the world. Now times have changed, but that's no reason to depreciate what we still have in this country. All too often, it seems to be the opposite. It's hard to understand the some of the intense dislike there seems to be for one's own home. But will millions of these new folks from other parts of the world, it may be only an opportunity to change a country that they don't particularly like. Such people should not be allowed here.

Lady Liberty 's welcome to immigrants does not mean cultural suicide. Prior generations assimilated into the culture. Instead, the outsiders want US to assimilate to THEM. It should not work that way, ya'll.
