What is Politics Schmolitics?

 

It is my distaste for politics. Look, it can be considered like any duty that is distasteful and unpleasant. I could shirk it, and often do, but doing so doesn't improve the situation. Likewise, to bitch about it here may not do anything to help, but at least I can TRY. So I try.

There was a vote to censure Adam Schiff recently. CTH had a write up about it. I'd like to address it as well. You see, if there was ANYONE who needed to face accountability, it's that guy. Yet, the GOP won't do it. This is what is wrong with the GOP in a nutshell. The problem with the GOP is that they PRETEND to be an opposition party, but in reality, they are not. Peeling it back further, like an onion, you find layer after layer of deceit. This was just another fake in a long series of fakes.

Schiff is a point man for the Democrats in their attacks upon Trump. Donald Trump is the most popular leader of the GOP. He is the leader of the party, yet the GOP won't defend him. What does that tell us?

One thing it tells us is that the opposition to Trump isn't based upon anything that they say it is. That's because the problem with Schiff is his dishonesty. If the GOP cared anything about what they claim that they care about, then there would be 100% unity in censuring Schiff. The GOP isn't about Democracy. But neither are the Democrats. If it really was, they could find REAL reasons to oppose Trump. But they cannot find REAL reasons. They have to make up phony "reasons". By supporting Schiff, there were at least 20 GOP House members who were willing to vote for what Schiff did with his phony charges against Trump. The GOP is no more honest than what Schiff was. I say at least 20, because I suspect that there are more. The idea isn't about anything they say it is about. So the 20 isn't likely to be the real number anyway. Everything is a fake. This vote about Schiff was probably fake too.

To put it in a word, it is all about fakery. The idea is to deceive the public. Therefore, nothing that they say is what it really is. It's a fake. If it weren't fake, there would have been a censure. But they need to show opposition to Schiff, and this is what they do. A fake vote to achieve a fake result. It's all a show.

I've included pics of two of the twenty here. Each of them seem to have leadership roles. That's even worse. For if there was anything that a leader should be doing is leading. Do they really want to send the message that Schiff is somebody worth listening to? Is that the message the leadership wants to send? If it is, then they need to be held accountable for this.

If "We the People" cannot get what we think we are voting for, then what reason can we expect for things to get any better? The GOP continually runs for office as if they are presenting a choice that we could have with respect to the Democrats. But if they won't actually oppose the Democrats, then what's the point? The point is that they aren't there to oppose, but to pretend to oppose. If they won't oppose the Democrats, shouldn't we find others who will?

There was a TED talk about deception that is appropriate to mention. It was about lying. People get lied to because they let themselves be deceived. So the question I posed is this: When will "We the People" stop letting ourselves be deceived? If this vote was anything, it yet another in a long line of deceitful acts. The only way to stop it is to hold those responsible for it to account. Not to PRETEND to. If they won't hold the likes of Schiff to account, then we get what we deserve if we don't hold those who pretend to hold him to account. In short, the lies have to stop. They can only be stopped if "We the People" decide that enough is enough.

But it is likely not going to make any difference. It isn't pleasant nor fun to do this. I'd rather believe that leadership has our best interests at heart, but it doesn't appear to be the case. Listening to others complain about it doesn't mean a thing if nobody is willing to do something to change it. What would that be? At least stop sending these people to Congress. Their replacements might not be any better, but it will at least be some sort of accountability. After all, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance. But you'd think that is what leadership was about, but the leadership isn't there right now. We have to accept the fact that the leadership isn't with us. A failure to respond is exactly what they want, and it is exactly what they should not receive.
