Researchers use membranes that remove salt from water to help 'split' sea water into fuel


My comment: 

This could work if the claims are accurate.

Hydrogen ions are so small that they can pass through solid metal.   They could certainly pass through a membrane.  The larger ions that you want to contain stay behind because of this reverse osmosis membrane.   In other types of membranes, the chlorine ions pass through and cause problems.

It seems promising.  But there's no reason why nuclear power couldn't be the energy source.  These people are really hung up on this "renewable" energy talk.  There is no such thing as "renewable" energy.  Energy does not renew.

People who like to claim to be scientific need to learn some science.  Consequently, one should remain skeptical until they prove their claims.
