Don Surber: Getting media to cover Obamagate

 

Here's a better idea: Start pulling their broadcast licenses if they don't start labelling their "News" as opinion. There's plenty of precedent for forcing truth in labelling laws elsewhere in the products that people consume. News is a product too, for which truth in labelling should be enforced.


It does not affect First Amendment rights. You have an unlimited ability to say what you think. You do not have the right to misrepresent the product that you present to the public. That is well established law. When truth in labelling was introduced to other products, the First Amendment was used as a defense. That defense FAILED. If it failed elsewhere, why wouldn't it fail in broadcast media?
