The Most Persistent Economic Fallacy of All Time!

On the Shoulders of Giants blog via Instapundit

By the way, I was thinking about the phrase "on the shoulders of giants". My thought was that people today think they are smarter than the people in the past because of all the advances that have occurred. But that is bass ackward. Actually, the people of today have only inherited the good things, and aren't adding to them like they should. We are standing on the shoulders of giants, but that doesn't make us any taller ourselves.

We are squandering our inheritance.
