Funny how lying is looked down upon, but rewarded so much

Another Instapundit link, this time about the secrets of good liars.

The thing that struck me about it all is that you really have to committed to being a good liar in order to be one.  It takes preparation and real effort.  This isn't something that just happens by accident.

This is reminiscent of what former Senator Bob Kerrey had to say of Bill Clinton when they competed for the Democratic nomination in 1992.  He said of Clinton that he was a good liar, he was really good at it.  And so Clinton won and served two terms.  While president, he gets caught in a lie and not only avoids punishment, but is now admired and defended for his lying.  So much reward for so much evil.

Lying is evil, you know.  But in our world today, it is probably not considered so.  Lying is only looked down upon if it is caught and if it is punished.  But the real good liar is not punished, and so was the case with Clinton.  The system seems to reward the really good liars and punish the not so good liars like Nixon.  At least Nixon had the decency to sweat when he lied.  Clinton never broke a sweat, for this he is admired.

The people who protected Clinton so much were really pissed at Bush's so-called lies.  "Bush lied and people died."  Of course, they are also silent about Obama's lies.  Obama is so smooth and glib about it.  Hillary says "what difference does it make" and everybody oohs and aahs.  Nobody died in Watergate.  People did die while Bush was in office, but was he really lying?  Or was the accusation of a lie itself a lie?  Even if Bush did lie, he could never be the liar that Clinton and Obama is.  For that, they really hated him the most.  He couldn't talk that well.  Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Says a lot about some of us that isn't good.
