Did Ted Cruz really bungle the lame-duck session for Republicans? | WashingtonExaminer.com

The balance of the evidence suggests that he didn't. The GOP really doesn't want to oppose Obama.

"They can give us consents more easily now because they know Cruz will be blamed. There is less pressure on them to hold out and actually force us to run clocks. So that's why I say it is certain that we will walk away with more nominees confirmed than if Cruz had not done what he did."
It is easier to blame Cruz than to actually oppose Obama.  That's how I read it.  The blame game is designed to help give the GOP cover to cut and run, which is what they wanted to do anyway.
