It looks to me that the internet has gone too far already.
A problem with the net is that it is inherently risky security wise. Everybody is there, including the bad guys. If your refrigerator can be connected to the web, then what kind of mischief would be possible then?
Keep as much off the net as possible. The net has its uses, but it should not be everywhere all the time.
