What Barr knows
The New York Times is trying to "massage" the narrative in order to get out in front of the coming Durham revelations with respect to Spygate. Barr and his prosecutor Durham know that Brennan created this hoax in order to get an investigation opened against then-candidate Donald Trump. The Times is engineering a narrative that this is a political attack against Obama, but Barr knows better.
Brennan lies to FBI in order to get an investigation
Brennan pushes his hoax onto Senator Reid, who presses the FBI to open an investigation. Brennan cannot open investigation himself, so he needs plausible deniability, and he gets Reid to tell the FBI as opposed to doing it himself. But how does Brennan know about Steele Dossier at that time, because all of what he tells Reid came from the Dossier, which he claimed he didn't see until months later? Brennan is lying, and the Times knows that. But they want to hurt the Trump Administration, but instead, they have a massive fail when they fall for the trap.
Barr flips the narrative so that the Times is now reporting that he is "standing up to Trump". The Times inadvertently steps on their own narrative of a political attack against Obama, and are now talking about what a hero Barr is. But Barr was supposed to be the villain! Barr flips the narrative. It gets even better...
