They are researching a way to utilize muon-catalyzed fusion. Don't see anything that indicates a new development, though.

Table top atom smashers have been built before. Well, maybe it isn't impossible after all.

Muons have a long history in physics, relatively speaking. Consequently, knowledge of these particles isn't new. In fact, it appears that they have been used, or thought of as a possibility of being used for sophisticated purposes. The idea of using them for rocket propulsion has not turned up in my peregrinations through the web.
It may take a very large magnet to manipulate these things, plus you need an atom smasher in order to make them. That would seem to eliminate this as a possibility for rocket propulsion. Too much mass.
