Elon Musk wants to go to the moon.
He is not just a Mars guy, after all.
Going to the moon first is a great idea. The moon is made mostly of oxygen. If you do nothing else, but mine the oxygen, it will be a big help getting to Mars.
Getting on and off the moon takes a lot less than the Earth. It just makes a lot of sense to me to go there first.
