The most important economic chart in Western civilization — and how it happened

It’s sad that the case for economic growth needs to be made. But it seems that too many people have lost sight of why growth is good as they fret about issues such as the environment and inequality (both of which growth actually helps).
Comment:

Why do people insist upon drinking the poison that makes them sick in the first place?  We have an anti-growth faction in control, yet people are not happy with the lack of economic growth.  The answer to that is to stop electing anti-growth politicians to office.  There seems to be a disconnect here.  Connect the dots, for heavens sake.
