Starship Update: 8/6/23, Static Fire of Booster 9 today



Update on 8/6/23 post:



This video shows a different angle. The lower angle of the previous video showed near ground level. The steam cloud obscured the engines lighting up. The higher angle, while looking down, was able to capture the short time that the engines were lit up.

editorial comment:

A lot of these videos show stuff that hasn't got that much to do with Starship. There are others that get pretty ridiculous in their needless repetition. This one got to business, then added a lot of what I considered "fluff".

There was a static fire that last less than 3 seconds today. It is reported that 4 engines shut down prematurely. The static fire was to last 5 seconds, so the duration was a bit shorter than scheduled.

The test left no visible cloud after about 5 minutes. The pad didn't appear to have any damage, and no damage was reported.
