Old food pyramid is not for our own good... It is there to cause harm...

"Not an accident." I do get the sense of malevolence being directed against the entire culture. Of course, anybody with a brain should understand what I'm referring to. I've BEEN referring to it, and in other ways than this topic. Good to see that this malevolence is not going unnoticed. But is it too late? Too much damage already?

Dr. Berg

Every time that I need to lose weight, I cut the sugar. Works every time. This time, I've lost 20 lbs so far. Trouble is keeping away from the sugar. Eventually I'll go back to it. Those days are over this time. Can't do the sugar thing anymore.

Announcement: Medical issues

6/9/26:

It is interesting to go back and read a post like this from the past... This was the first manifestation of symptoms of which would later be diagosed as cancer. The tests came short of what would have been necessary in order to discover it at that time. The test? An MRI was necessary. X-rays were simply inadequate. The X-rays did discover something unusual about my tailbone. I was asked if I had broken it at one time. To my knowledge, I had not.

The nature of chordomas is that they grow slowly and do not go metastatic like many other cancers. For that reason, it went undiagonosed for nearly five years! How would've things gone if I had gotten an MRI? Hard to say, but I thought about that. Five years earlier would've have meant no ObamaCare. It would've likely meant that surgery would've been prescribed, and from what I've heard, a wheelchair in my future.

The cancer grew bigger and more dangerous all the time. Yet things worked in my favor. I have pondered over that many times.

Sometimes there are no answers for why things happen the way they do.

May 4, 2012:

I've been dealing with a medical problem for the last few days that has kept me from my job.  It now appears that it may do more than that.  I thought it was manageable, but evidently it is not.  There is a likelihood of a lot of tests to determine what the problem is, and depending upon that, a possible hospital stay of an uncertain duration.

So this is a bit of a notification that there will be light posting until the situation plays out.

With respect to all my writing about political matters, and Obamacare, no matter what happens, I am content with my decisions.  I never expected a handout from anyone and have always did my best to give value for value.  I have lived my life in accordance with that.  I would have liked to have done better, but that may not have been in the cards.

I don't want to sound morbid here, but my condition may be serious.  If I am fortunate and it is not all that serious, I will be back soon.

One further thing.  I feel my latest work has been my best.  The bit about Seinfeld really does describe what is happening and it has a medical ( psychological) side to it, in Dr. Sanity's opinion ( and obviously I agree).  Frankly, I think the entire country and world is sick in spirit.  There needs to be a renewal.  But like my own situation, until one recognizes a problem, one can't begin to deal with it.  Hopefully a problem will be recognized and dealt with in time before it becomes too late to deal with it.

Breitbart died and some people seem to find satisfaction in it.  That is what I mean by a spiritual sickness.  By the way, I don't compare myself to Breitbart, but I have something in common with him.  Hopefully, I haven't made the same mistake he did.

Update:

I went to the doctor and at the moment, things do not appear to be as bad as I may have feared.  It appears though that the situation has still not completely resolved, as to cause and so forth, so more visits are likely in the near future.  I thought I might be in a hospital tonight, you see.

Blogging should resume on a light schedule over the weekend.

Treatment zaps high blood pressure at the source - Yahoo! News

2/11/26:

Looks like Yahoo took down the link. Thanks a lot, yayhoos. Wonder who paid you off for doing that little trick. Looks like how you saddle us with a fake vaccine. You know something? The world is full of sell-outs. That's why I wrote that. Which reminds me, Yayhoo is celebrating the latest sell out strategies in the House. Notice how the sell-outs could care less about Americans?

Here's another shot: They sold out to the Chinese the same way that Cocaine Mitch did. Stick that in your crack pipes and smoke, pinkos.

Ketosis is a state your body prefers, the lady says

  2/8/26; Update:

A couple times for short periods in the last decade; I've tried this with some success.  But it didn't hold up because I went back to the bad old ways. Sure enough, the weight came back.

But this time, not only did the weight come back, but my A1c also went up to pre-diabetic levels.  Uh-oh!

When I was following the keto regime a few years back, my blood glucose and A1c was in good shape.  So, it is rather obvious that I can no longer get away with indulging my sweet tooth.

I've been back on keto for the last few months, and my weight is coming down. On the last blood test, the a1c hadn't come down yet.  But I wasn't on full keto yet. The weight loss is accelerating.  I must have lost over 10 lbs since I began losing weight.

I'm hoping the blood glucose and a1c will come down on the next test.  When will that be?  Maybe in a few weeks, we can test it again.  Anyway, I will post on this at that time.

2/1/26:

Interesting video.

I've tried keto before. It works for awhile, then I reach a plateau before falling off the wagon.

A sweet tooth doesn't help. She says even if you don't eat sugar, the body will react as if you had. That means a sweet tasting snack that may seem harmless, won't be. Damn! No more keto ice cream!

The Ugly Truth About Avocados (You Won’t Like It)

  Author: Dr. Eric Berg DC

Description: Why you should be very careful about avocados and avocado products. They are not what they are being presented as.

Question: Is it my imagination, or does there appear to be a lot of stuff like this out there?

Of course, the best solution is to grow your own stuff, but there is a lot of resistance to this from the regulators.  Of course there is!  If everybody took care of things themselves, there wouldn't be any need for regulators.  Sort of like police who don't take care of public safety.  It really isn't the fault of individual police officers (or is it?)  You do whatever the boss who writes your paycheck tells you to do ( or not do).

The problem isn't that there isn't enough government. The problem is that government doesn't do what they say that they will do.  It is the same problem as with the merchants who sell you phony stuff. DISHONESTY.

Ivermectin type drug as a cancer treatment

There's a connection to Ivermectin here? Let's keep this one on file, hence the post.

Incidentally, I KNEW I saw this somewhere...  The news has been "out there" for several years.  I'm looking for dosage info, but no luck so far.

Ivermectin, the cancer fighting drug?

Even if you seem to have it under control, there's always this lingering worry that it could come back. What if you could knock it out for good?

P.S. This is not to be construed as an endorsement of Ivermectin for treatment of cancer. I'm looking into it, that's all.

More of this please....

12/15/24:

It doesn't look like much of an apology. I get the impression that it isn't sincere, either. They're not sorry.

12/14/24:

It is therapeutic to admit error. This could be part of a national reconciliation, but Insty has another point to make. Forced apologies are insincere, I would think.  The political left owes us ALL an apology.  But I won't hold my breath.

Amygdala Hijack: When Emotion Takes Over

The "best of all possible worlds" has sent you a link from Healthline:

This message was sent by me to this blog for posting.

Comment:

This link was found in a Google search for the part of the brain that processes fear.  It seems that today's media has become one gigantic fear porn machine.

Look out!  They have hijacked our amygdalas.  Someone call the POLICE.  Ooops!  Sorry.  No more police.  Too bad, so sad.

Look, it may sound a bit frivolous, but this is serious.  Stop watching all the fear porn.  If you are making up some of it, then please stop.  Enough of this garbage.

Take your vitamins

There was some news a while back that Vitamin D could help against the Wuhan Coo-coo Flu Virus Bug Thing.  More news this morning.

I've been taking Vitamin D.  Maybe it helps, but it is always a good idea to get your winnamins.

While you're at it, eat your veggies.

Food for thought

Look at these numbers.  Could it be that this entire virus scare was for nothing???

Texas County map track of spread of the Wuhan Virus, 4.3.20

The focus today is on my immediate area. A neighboring county ( Gillespie ) has reported its first case.

In my own county, the number of cases remained steady, but the county to the east, Burnet, reported another.

I am practicing a no-travel regime for five days. Tomorrow, I will head out again.

As of this morning, I am experiencing no symptoms. I have had no symptoms for over 3 weeks. No Wuhan here.

I'd like to believe that we are getting a handle on this thing. It is getting rather tiresome. However, one should not let their guards down. There was another spike in reported cases nationwide. It isn't over yet. My recollection is that the last zero-day of new cases was February 29th. Is it possible that this will continue for yet another?

Texas County map track of spread of the Wuhan Virus, 4.2.20

As expected, some of the counties that I mentioned yesterday have reported new cases. The virus is spreading.

In my own county, the number of cases remained steady, but the county to the east, Burnet, reported one more.

A disclosure here. On Monday, it was necessary for me to travel to a hot spot, in Williamson County.

This was for an MRI as a follow-up to my treatment for a Chordoma. This treatment is now about 3 years old.

As a consequence, I am practicing a rather strict no-travel regime until I feel sure that I haven't gotten the virus.

If it takes longer than that, I may have to go out again anyway.

I mention this because it is a consequence of this virus. It may not be stoppable because it is really hard to self-isolate for longer than five days. That is how long I will wait before the next outing.

Five days is about the amount of time that it takes to incubate. If my case is longer than that ( should I get the virus), then I will be a vector of the virus ( unfortunately ). Could I wait longer?

As of today, there are no symptoms evident. No coughing, no fever, no aches, no fatigue. (out of the ordinary, that is). It is inexact as hell. It has to hit like a ton of bricks in order to really know, because the virus can be asymptomatic. That is a troubling thought.

Yesterday, I mentioned that it was definitely traveling along the highways. Today's map confirms that hypothesis.

Actually, the map I made today is more comprehensive and thorough than yesterday's map. However, I am sure that the point is still valid. There may have been some mistakes yesterday, I point out.

An example: There are long stretches of this state that still haven't reported cases, but the highway corridors are reporting cases. The one that comes to mind is the panhandle region of this state. The stretch between Lubbock and Amarillo are dotted with cases, but the surrounding area is still mostly clear.

Likewise, all interstate corridors are filled up now. Major highways are mostly filled. That leaves the less-traveled roads bringing up the rear. If it continues spreading, these will fill in as well.

The conclusion should be clear.

Texas County map track of spread of the Wuhan Virus

It may be useful to see how the virus spreads at the local level. Indeed, that is how it gets started.

Any way that human contact is possible is where the virus can spread. Social distancing does seem to work.

But it has its limits. Unless you want to hole up for several weeks, you will have to get out some. That's how it spreads.

As of this morning, April 1st at about 8:30 am, I have no fever, nor symptoms.

However, I have traveled some. These trips were necessary, and future trips will also be necessary. That entails risk for me.

I am practicing social distancing, but there is no fool-proof way to prevent the spread without total isolation. This is not practical.

It is clear that places like resorts are still seeing traffic. Not everybody is cooperating.

In Val Verde County, there is Lake Amistad. It is on the border with Mexico. It gets visited by tourists. There are a few cases there.

In Uvalde County, there is Garner State Park, a popular place to visit. But many other counties do not have cases yet.

Distance alone does not guarantee anything. It is where people gather that is the trouble spot.

Kimble County doesn't have any cases yet, but could. It is on Interstate 10, about 100 miles from San Antonio. I would expect new cases there in the near future.

There are six counties that border Llano county, which is the county in which I live. Those to the west have no cases. Llano has 3. Burnet to the east and Blanco to the south have a few.

The areas around San Antonio and Austin are filling in. That is the area that I am concerned with because it is closest to me. Not all of the state has been covered here. Late note: Tom Green county has 6 cases reported now. San Angelo is there.

There are markings on the map to indicate where I have looked for new cases. See the key for details.

Niacin Lowers Cholesterol Better than Prescription Drugs

2.13.20:

Update:

Oldie, but maybe a goodie.  It so happens that I'm trying this experiment with oat bran and niacin in order to see if it helps with my own cholesterol.  It will be a while before my next wellness visit, though.

2.8.13:

thebetterhealthstore.com

Examiner | Rachel Hillier Pratt | A new study out shows vitamin B3, also known as niacin, lowers bad cholesterol more effectively than a common statin drug, ezetimibe, sold as Zetia...However a new study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, not only shows niacin contributing to a more significant drop in bad cholesterol (LDL), but also shows increases in the amount of good cholesterol (HDL). ..high doses of vitamin B3 can cause occasional discomfort known as flushing. According to the homesteading website, Doctoryourself, flushing causes “a pinkness about the cheeks, ears, neck, forearms and perhaps elsewhere. A slight niacin flush should end in about ten minutes or so.

There was a book out more than 20 years ago that mentioned the benefits of niacin.  It also included a reference to oat bran as helpful also.  I tried the oat bran, but it was hard on my stomach, so I stopped that.  In addition, I never bothered trying the niacin part.

It turned out that later, the oat bran part of this cholesterol cure was discredited.

Evidently, this was a bit premature.  There does appear to be a benefit of oatmeal as well as niacin.  I've been reading on this subject this morning, and the stuff out there surprises me a bit.   For more information about foods that help you with your cholesterol, check this slideshow.
