Video links

The first one link just below, is about a "hack" or invention. It is several of these "hacks", but the first one is the one that caught my attention. It is a cook grill that folds up very neatly, and looks quite easy to set up. This one would come in pretty handy in a tight space. It's for campers.

Hacks

The second video link swerves into the social/political sphere, while appearing to be an offgrid type of post. The things that this dude says shocked me, but it is quite believable. He posits the question, without making an explicit accusation, that the chicken feed that Tractor Supply sells is sabotaging the output of laying hens. They aren't producing eggs like they should. There may be a change in what goes into the chicken feed, you see. He also mentions that Tractor Supply is into the ESG program that a lot of corporations have gotten into.

Once you consider that they forced a dangerous injection upon the population, and then you get something like this... Hoo, boy.

Tractor supply sabotaging chicken feed?

If Biden goes, it is because they want him gone

Biden will lose in 24 so they want him out

Some polls say that even Democrats don't want Biden to run again. But if Biden won't leave, they'll have to beat him in another way. The classified docs scandal and something else just brewing is about to pop, says Bongino...

Something about to pop says Bongino

There are folks pretty skeptical about anything coming from all this, if justice is what is being sought. Some political accountability, at least.

Bongino says that the New York Times's likely suspects are out there trying to get in front of this latest thing about to pop. Check it out at about 30 minutes into today's video.

On CTH --- Douglas MacGregor discusses status of Ukraine War

Discussion of Ukraine War

There hasn't been much posting here on that war other than this: I have been opposed to our involvement from Day One.

Who's winning? Who's losing? Who cares? It isn't any of our affair, or shouldn't have been. But now it is...

The information here is in conflict with the usual thing coming from ... who? It so happens that this involvement has been supported on the supposedly conservative side. This to me has always been dismaying. It has always been my habit of referring to "conservatives" as supposedly conservative. I just don't think that there are that many true conservatives anymore, as I would think of the term...

To define conservatism properly, you have to go back to the founding principles of the country. These have been violated time and time again. It is almost impossible to find anyone who actually follows these principles now.

Maybe Trump isn't one, but he did at least talk a bit on the conservative side when he discussed his philosophy on picking judges who would interpret the Constitution "as written". I don't think that this is actually how it has turned out as far as judges have acted, but at least it was a step in the right direction.

There still won't be any comment about who's winning or losing except for this: "We the People" have been losing for a long time now. This is one of many examples WHY. Instead of free discussion of the events of the day, we now have full blown tyrannical censorship. This was unthinkable once upon a time in the "land of the free, home of the brave".

The politics of shut up tried to shut up CTH, if anyone recalls. Not only CTH, but many others WERE. There are some ugly truths that these "leaders" do not want getting discussed. This war is no doubt another one of those truths. In fact, we shouldn't have had anything to do with it in the first place.

Steve Miller and Star Trek TOS mashup

Another lag in posting...

Basic rundown of what's been happening... Still planning out the next step in the candle experiment. It is being constantly refined. What I end up with may be simple. I hope so. Complexity is a sure fire way to another fail. If I keep the latest design, and execute it, I'll test it out and blog about it.

Aside from that, still working on getting better at the water management. The recent grades I gave myself may have been a bit too harsh. I've compiled a lot of information. The bottom line is that there's still nothing out there on the property in West Texas. That grade wasn't too harsh. Just need to do more.

Keep tracking the news, but nothing grabs me at the moment.

Here's a video I spotted recently. I think this is what is called a "mashup". Actually, it is well done.

The Yardbirds - Shapes of Things (1966)

update of 5.1.16 post

This song came to mind again this morning, and I thought I'd make a post about it. Turns out that I made one previously. So it is only an update.

There are multiple instances of the song that are posted on Youtube. The one I saw is not this one here. On the other, there are some comments that I noted. The comments are what I want to discuss.

The comment at the top of the list appears to be from someone who is much younger than I am. I grew up when this song was being played on the radio as brand new. It was first recorded about 66 or 67. Well, the comment was about how world was being destroyed, and how the song related to that. I have to laugh...

Most of my childhood was spent in Houston, and the part that wasn't, was in San Antonio. Houston is an industrial town, and there's pollution there. But it was far worse in the sixties than it was when I left town in 2016. It is almost as if the younger generation has discovered pollution or something. We were all very aware of it, I assure anyone who wasn't around back then. Maybe the comment was referring to the thing called "climate change".

Anyone who has read much of this blog knows what I think of climate change. I'll add some more to it, now. Climate alarmism is the same as COVID alarmism. Alarmism is a favorite tactic of useless politicians. Actually, they are worse than useless. People in the days of old had a healthy skepticism of politicians. Not so much these days. All these politicans have to do is to cry wolf, and people run for the hills. It would appear that folks need to remember the story of the boy who cried wolf. Yet, it is the younger generation who seem to need to hear that story the most.

My generation was hoodwinked into alarmism as well. The young are the most succeptible to this kind of thing. Their lives are in front of them, and they haven't much experience. Once they've been around awhile, they may catch on to these kind of shams. Unfortunately, almost everybody fell for the COVID scam.

The song appear to question the idea of material progress. Material progress was highly valued up till the sixties, but obviously that has changed. What has also changed is that material progress has slowed down--- a lot. It has taken over 50 years to get back to the moon, even if Elon Musk's Starship succeeds. Maybe China will get there. Back in the sixties, the Chinese got around on bicycles. We had our muscle cars. There's a message in there, if you bother to look for one.

Don't misunderstand. I'm not excusing pollution. Nor even the production of so-called greenhouse gasses ( assuming that these gasses actually cause global warming, which I doubt.) The thing I'm criticizing here is the total lack of intellectual curiousity that has become rampant in this society. If there was such, there would be less opportunity for all of the alarmism that runs rampant, and it is this alarmism that is greater thing to worry about than the things the politicians love to scare people about.

Heard this on the road this morning.  I like this song.
