Does this climate change story rate much credibility?

Via Ground News, which rates articles based upon the Marxist dialectic, rates this one as mostly "center" and "factual". I got about three sentences in, and then I fully dismissed it as nonsense. Why?

The basic premise underlying the entire story is that carbon dioxide concentrations have any bearing on the climate. As mentioned many, many times here, that is a bogus premise.

Climate simulations aren't science. Anybody can write computer code to produce whatever outcome you desire. This might as well be a computer game. I wouldn't base public policy upon game simulations.

A lot of busy people out there may be letting this get by them. I've written plenty of computer programs. It is more an art than a science. As far as predictions go, there might be some usefulness to it. But to characterize it as anything other than a model ( as only a guess at reality ) is fallacy. It is no more reality than a space ship designed and modeled under the Kerbal space program that space enthusiasts like to write about. Those models are no more a real space ship than a computer game on your screen.

It's a mistake to casually let oneself be so influenced. The authors are treating people as a bunch of dummies, and if this succeeds, it is only because too few dig beyond the headlines. Don't fall for the paradigm that posits the fallacy of "splitting the difference". If it starts wrong, it stays wrong. Marxist dialecticians want you to trust something other than actual science, and then fraudulently call it science. That's not the truth. You cannot get at the truth this way. Real science makes the attempt to discover truth. On the other hand, Marxist dialectics just a means of controlling your thoughts for political gain and power. The point is to think for yourself. Otherwise, they own you. Why give them that power?

That wasn't so hard, now was it?

The first of the 12 appropriations bills passes the GOP led House.

It's a good first step in controlling the excesses of Democrat Big Government overreach.

It cuts spending modestly, but the Democrats are complaining about it. It may be recalled that the Democrats larded up on the spending just before they relinquished control after losing the 2022 elections to the Republicans.

Imagine a Republican led House actually enacting some of its own priorities. What a concept! If they keep going with the Continuing Resolutions, they may as well not even be there. That was the whole point of the Speaker change. McCarthy really didn't want to do anything about Democrat excesses.

The bill may not get passed as is, but so what? Then no spending at all, and the Democrats get nothing. I think they should take what they can get.

Nobody needs to get ready

Redstate pushes the despair button.

We are expected to feel negative emotions all the time. So how to take a small victory and turn it into a big defeat? Let's sell the despair aspect, shall we? Despair is all around, it seems. To me, the past few weeks were glorious. The replacement of the Speaker with another one is not exactly a solution. These people cannot let go of a way that is increasingly dysfuntional. They believe the past few weeks were a failure. Thus, the selection of a new Speaker is bound to be a disappointment.

But such misses the point. Nobody needs to expect much. Nobody should be all that wrapped up in this drama. If we all did our jobs right, we'd be tending to our own business. Indeed. Instead of writing incessantly about this kind of thing, perhaps I should be tending my own projects. My own projects suffer from neglect. I should be out on my property by now. It's been over 9 years, and I'm still here. See what I mean?

Spelling it out further--- we have become too damned dependent. If we grew our own food, then what matters if Washington DC is broke? Back in the early days of the Republic, people took care of themselves. Now DC does it all for us, and we forever are unhappy because they cannot do everything for us. Well, get over it I say.

For the ultimate in despair, consider the bunch in DC is just playing us for a bunch of gullible fools who'll believe the lies they keep telling.

But Michael Douglas bangs the Black Widow, and lives to tell about it.

Police State flick

Linking from Instapundit.

I must have missed it in theaters. I did look it up earlier this month. To see it, I would have had to have driven an hour to get to the theater. No thanks.

It must have cost a lot to produce this flick. I can see charging admission, but why watch it? Just to feel angry all the time? Somehow or other, there has to be an approach that doesn't make you feel bad all the time. There was a small victory in the choice of Speaker, so I felt a sense of relief. It's not that I disagree, it is that better outcomes through other means might be achievable. I don't think I'll spend the bucks. I don't need convincing that there's a big problem. The polls don't need to persuade anybody that anything's wrong. The direction of country poll has been underwater for most of the last 20 years.

Just another climate scam

The blame for the Panama Canal trouble is said to be "climate change". Maybe the problem is that the builders did not envision the enormous amount of traffic that would be going through the canal.

The suggestion that the world has to be taxed to the tune of trillions--- in order to fix a minor adjustment to how the canal operates--- is absurd. The water could be diverted back to the lake after it has done its job. This would require an enormous amount of pumping, but if that is what it takes to keep it open.

The way it is done now is like have a river flowing constantly towards the sea in both directions. Of course it cannot be sustained. That's what problem solving is about. A solution shouldn't be as difficult as the engineering required to build the thing in the first place.

NSF---SpaceX Starbase Update 10/25/23

Lots of activity at Starbase. This update didn't include the Wet Dress Rehearsal that is now completed.

Just my opinion and speculation here: There must be something going on in the background, or SpaceX doesn't do all the continuing preparations, including a WDR. Therefore, a launch may come sooner than many anticipate. If a launch license does get approved, then a launch could happen pretty fast. So don't fall asleep.

Pressure to put McCarthy into Speakership

The saga continues... and now ends with a new Speaker. This should close out this thread. Goodbye with this one until and/or if something changes that may bring it back.

10/25/23  (before vote): Update on 10/20/23 post:

There are reports that McCarthy floated a co-Speakership idea. He just won't let go.

Pro-Life Congressman Mike Johnson Becomes New Republican Speaker Nominee

10/20/23: Update on 10/18/23 post:

"No Speaker isn't so bad." Couldn't have said it better meself.

end update

10/18/23: Update on yesterday's post:

Looks like an impasse is developing. Nevertheless, I remain of the same opinion. The main body of the GOP should stick to their guns. If the so-called "moderates" bolt to the Democrats, then let them go. We don't need that type around.

end update

10/17/23, 6:53 PM: Daily update(s):

(2)

This is ridiculous. McCarthy is history. So they are going to blow it all up just because of that guy? As for maybe 2 of the 20 holdouts, they are from Texas, they are newbies. The third one from Texas is a long timer, so changing her vote is unlikely. The newbies are maybe being used as "human shields" to keep the heat off the real culprits. I'll dig a little deeper on that.

“Until we can find clear consensus among the Republican Conference, it’s time to give expanded authority to Speaker Pro Tempore McHenry so the House can resume governing,” Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), who opposes Jordan’s speakership, said in a statement. “In the meantime, I’m supporting Kevin McCarthy because he’s the only member who’s received anywhere close to the 217 votes needed to select a speaker. I’ll continue to reassess where things stand as this process plays out.”
----source Washington Examiner

In the case of the Lori Chavez-DeRemer, yes she is a newbie. ; John James is another newbie, that's at least 4 now. Bacon is a vet, so that's two vets. Lawler of New York is a newbie, but he has a big mouth. So far, 5 newbies and 2 vets. There are those who had upsets in New York. Lawler is one of them. Politico has a bit more info on who the holdouts are.

end (2):

(1)12:14 PM

The last time I checked, the reasons given for refusing to support Jordan for Speaker seem to follow the Marxist dialectic. As I have written many times, that is not a valid reason for any sincere conservative to reject Jordan. Indeed, it isn't a valid reason at all.

There is an investigation into the events of January 6th that McCarthy kinda sorta supported. If the wannabe Democrats in the GOP caucus want to join the other Democrats in cancelling that investigation, or causing it to be stifled and defeated, then that's the real reason. That's because that's the price that will be demanded for Democrat support.

There's also a priority that is claimed for reestablishing regular order as opposed to continuing resolutions to fund the government. If these guys join the Democrats, then that's the end of that priority too.

In other words, it will be another total surrender. The GOP will get nothing. It will be another failure theater.

For once, the GOP needs to stand firm. It is no time to go wobbly. But I suspect that it could happen. I haven't checked the news since the last hour or so as I write this. Kinda bass ackwards, eh?

end update (1)

10/17/23: Update on 10/15/23 post

After scanning the webs, and thinking it all over, I am still of the same opinions. Under no circumstances that I can foresee, should McCarthy be allowed to return to the Speaker's chair. If some GOP'ers want to cross the aisle and join the Democrats, then do it. This is a fight that must take place. I'm sick of the lies.

If they join the Democrats on this, they can just about torpedo everything that the majority of the caucus wants. The same was true of Gaetz, yes. But the representation does not fit what the voters want. If those Republicans think that they better represent their district by joining the Democrats, then by all means join them. In my opinion, this clarifies things.

Let the voters decide on the results come next November. That is, if we can get an honest vote. I'm still of the opinion that the 2020 election was rigged.

end update ):

10/15/23: Update of last previous updated post dated 10/13/23:

Saw a headline that Dems only need 5 Republicans to elect a Democrat Speaker. This isn't likely, but you never know. The fact is, if the 5 GOP members vote for a Democrat Speaker, they may as well bolt the party altogether. Indeed, they may end up caucusing with the Democrats. The Democrats will want their own in charge. If these Republicans are still in the GOP, they are just as likely to vote against anything the Democrats want as before. The Democrats don't necessarily like any Republicans even if they DO join. Therefore, that would be the end of the the GOP's jumpers' political careers.

They might try some tactic that would allow them to stay in the party, while denying the Speakership to Jordan. There's a proposal to keep the current temporary Speaker, who is a McCarthy ally. What could be more telling?

If it goes to the floor for a vote, there will be the same scenario as the one in January. There could be multiple votes without a Speaker being named.

On top of all that, the situation in the Middle East could be about to explode. Iran is hinting about Hezbollah, and that means they may get involved themselves. This just may be a bluff, or party of something else even bigger. People are worrying that China may move in the midst of all this chaos.

That puts pressure on the House to name a Speaker. It may well be part of the plan, too.

end update:

Update of last previous updated post dated 10/12/23:

The battle for Speaker continues. CTH gives his analysis. I would add that Jordan has gotten more votes this time. It may no longer be about McCarthy. The fight now is about committee chairmanships and such.

end update:

Update of last previous updated post dated 10/10/23:

They are getting down to business now, as Scalise won the first vote, but they probably need a near unanimous vote to get the job done. It probably won't go down well if the Gaetz group is seen to be holding up the vote. My own opinion is that they should hold firm for SOMETHING. Otherwise the exercise will be nothing more than the usual failure theater.

Another thing is the pressures of getting the Speaker position filled. It is expected that things will happen, and there will be a need to get things done. However, the House is not completely powerless to get things done. They can hold votes without the need of a Speaker. They can do discharge petitions to get votes on items that the Speaker refuses to bring up for a vote.

Consequently, the pressure being placed to decide is not necessary. For example, if Israel needs emergency aid, the Congress can still formulate the necessary appropriation and send it on for approval. The Senate could concur or not concur and the usual conference could be held as with any other bill.

Finally, the Constitution provides for a Speaker, but does not require a formal process of one, nor for how the office is executed. The current arrangement could go on for the rest of the session if they so chose. That may not be desirable, but there's no reason why it couldn't be done. The same can be said for shut downs. All of the drama isn't necessary.

end update

Update to yesterday's post:

McCarthy won't go away.  He won't run, but they'll nominate him anyway.  Looks suspicious to me.

What did I tell you?

end update:

Daily Update(s):

4) 1:42 PM local: The plot thickens. The insurrection narrative again. Will the GOP caucus split completely over Jim Jordan because he was an "insurrectionist"?

3) 12:27 local :  This pretty much decides it. McCarthy wants to come back. He's using Hamas' attack as an excuse.

2)11:39 local time: There's a reason you don't want to get rid of the motion to vacate, which was used to get rid of McCarthy. For the sake of argument, let's assume that there's a one vote majority in the House. If someone dies, who controls the House? A governor of a state could appoint a new House member, but if the governor is of another party, you don't keep control, or you don't get control. That could leave the minority in control of the House. Therefore, you wouldn't want that to change if you can get control and you're the minority. Or if you are the majority, but the other side won't give up the gavel. This situation could apply with narrow majorities like what we have now.

1)If they wanted to pass aid for Israel, they could do it with a discharge petition. Individual bills should be passable. There's nothing in the Constitution that forbids it. The Speaker doesn't have a vote anyway. In other words, this tactic is not only without merit, it isn't even a problem unless somebody wants it to be.

end update:

Washington Examiner:House centrist republicans want McCarthy speaker due to Israel attacks

Quote: "They believe the urgency surrounding the attacks could pressure the eight House Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy to switch their stance."

According to another source, GOP Representative Duarte of California is quoted to have said:

Duarte alleged the vacant speakership may have played a role in Hamas' timing, particularly since the vote to oust McCarthy renders the chamber unable to approve new aid.

This is out of bounds, in my opinion. The temporary Speaker is a McCarthy ally. It is the Temporary Speaker who has delayed an immediate replacement for McCarthy. This appears to be an attempt to pressure the Republicans who voted to remove McCarthy. Indeed, if blame is to be placed, the delay should be attributed to McCarthy's ally, which means McCarthy could be orchestrating all this himself. Those who voted McCarthy out did not want the delay. Evidently the delay is proving useful for the McCarthyites.

There are those in the GOP caucus who seem to be getting wobbly. This is no time to get wobbly. They should hold the vote on Speaker soon, if not having a Speaker is the problem that Duarte and others are claiming.

Stupid is what stupid does said the sage

Update of post from 10/12/23:

In the spirit of never underestimating the power of stupid, there's this from Don Surber via Instapundit.

Reynolds thinks they're complicit. If that's the case, they're not stupid, but evil. Surber thinks they're foolish. (that would mean gullible)

Never underestimating the power of stupid would suggest that maybe they are neither evil, nor naive. They're just stupid. By the way, this is in reference to the mishandling of the alleged bombing of the hospital in Gaza, and the media's reaction to it. It's stupid not to learn from your mistakes. You lose credibility when you continue doing the same mistakes over and over again. But then again, that would match what Einstein said about insanity. Add insanity to the list. But insanity can make you stupid, so there's that.

end update

Columbus Day, 2023:  I would update this, but it gets repetitious...

Update of post made on November 14th, 2021:

Perhaps the study of real life examples can show stupidity in action...

Let's assert that the fact that people like John Fetterman can become a US Senator, is just plain stupid. After all, how can this possibly be a good thing? It would probably draw some type of objection to assert that his being a Senator is really stupid. Why is it stupid then?

If you object, then consider this: Would you pay to attend a course in which this guy was attempting to teach you something? Does he seem competent to you? Would you be willing to pay this man for doing a job when he cannot express himself adequately? Isn't it stupid to expect anything good from this guy? Finally, would you willing to put your life in this guy's hands? But our lives ARE in his hands.

According to the laws of stupidity, you have to be able to gain from something before it isn't a stupid thing to do. Even those who gain from Fetterman being Senator are being stupid because of the kind of damage that he can do. You can die because of people like this. We could all die because of people like this.

You really have to wonder how Fetterman can get into the Senate. Has the collective stupidity become this powerful?

Hopefully there are enough non-stupid people in this country who can reverse this situation. This is worrisome.

Theory of stupidity

Comment:

Looks like I just glossed over the subject when I came across it again here on Insty. It is all you wanted to know about stupidity, but were too dumb to ask.

The one I linked to isn't the same as the one on Insty, linked above. In all seriousness, it is not so dumb subject. It can have serious consequences.

The two links are two separate perspectives upon the same subject. But if you are dumb enough to be struggling with the subject, may I suggest a way to avoid being dumb? Maybe it won't work, which would be yet another example of stupidity. But anyway, my definition of stupid is one in which I have fallen into ( sadly) myself. It is this: you are stupid if you fail to see what is clearly in front of you. Well, maybe that is blindness. But this isn't a matter for your eyeballs, but your perceptiveness. If you fail to perceive what you should, you could be acting stupidly. Please don't do that. However, a warning. You may not be able to avoid it. Sometimes, or maybe, many times, stupidity comes so naturally that you don't even have to think about it.

Now for your edification, and possible self-preservation, here is an embedded version of what I saw previously.

The modern GOP is Michael Stivic, aka the Meathead

Since when is it a bad day for the GOP when Democrats' priorities don't get funded? These guys have become a bunch a liberal douche bags.

I would prefer an Archie Bunker response of -"I don't care"- that there isn't a Speaker. It's a great day when the government isn't expanding, but actually contracting. Let the Democrats worry about no Speaker. It isn't our problem. It's their problem.

We live in a fish bowl

Update of 12/22/14 post:

Now, more than ever.

end update-sky, comrade

Did you ever notice that?

Computers are rigged up for that now.  There's little privacy out there.  People can track what you are doing, especially government people.  Think you are doing something nobody knows about?  Think again!

There's certainly no privacy in financial transactions.  The government is going to know what you do with your money.  Where it is, and how you got it, and how you spend it.  You have no right to privacy with your money.

There's no privacy even in the middle of nowhere.  Not that I purchased the land out west in order to gain some.  There's satellites that can see what you are doing from above.  If there's something they want to check out more closely, they can get a drone to fly over you.

There's no getting away from prying eyes.

This has implications on a number of levels.  What if you want to fight a corrupt government?  Good luck with that, for they are watching you.  You can count on that.  Want to organize against the powers-that-be?  They are watching you.  Want to fight them?  Go ahead, and try to organize a guerrilla group and see how far you get with that.

I was thinking of all these things with respect to the gun videos that I posted yesterday.  Why would anybody want these guns?  There are two types that I can think of.  The true criminal types and then there may be those who are sincerely concerned about the future of this country and are alarmed about the creeping totalitarian tendencies that seem to be growing stronger by the day.

Guns are pretty easy to make, if these videos are any indication.  But it makes little sense economically to make them this way.  Their main attraction would be that they would be untraceable.  Of course, the powers-that-be don't like this, and it is certainly guaranteed that they will use the powers of the state to crack down upon anybody, criminal or otherwise, who start to manufacture these guns in large numbers.

Interestingly enough, the government may not crack down on everybody.  Discriminatory enforcement of the laws are a chief tool of totalitarians.  This bunch in DC look like they are doing things that way.  Curiously enough, they may not go after you if you make these guns "for the right reasons".

See what I mean?

If I were to go into this business, it is hard for me to control who I might come into contact with.  My powers are limited.  No matter how hard I try, I may not be able to prevent the wrong kind of people to get these guns.

Even if I joined a group, how could I know that the group isn't corrupt itself?

Perhaps I could take the point of view that I cannot guarantee what will happen with these things once I ship them out.  So, some criminal group gets ahold of them and does something really bad, and I am responsible.

I'd rather not be.  But I'd also rather not be too passive in the face of the increasing evil I see in this society.

What to do?  It may be a fishbowl, but I don't have access to the viewing equipment.  I can't watch THEM, even though they can sure watch me.

I think about this and I think about that fishbowl.  What the hell can you do???

Never underestimate the power of stupid

Slick propaganda, or the truth?

Propaganda puts forth a view that isn't necessarily in line with the truth. In the case here, indicated by the link, I am suspicious. There are some derogatory things being said about Trump, and about those who defend and support him.

A point of clarification here: I do not blindly support Trump. The thing I most strenuously ( or a la AOC--- vociferously --- ) object to is the blind opposition to Trump. The fact is the opposition to Trump has never convinced me. I started out opposed to Trump. I figured that he wasn't a true conservative. That he might not be a true conservative may still be true, but the ways being used to oppose him are definitely OUT OF BOUNDS.

The link at the post give a number of reasons that someone who tends to be as fair and reasonable as possible, some room for doubt about Trump. It is true that the best place for him to prevent the fraud was before the election, but what Mr. Walsh fails to point out is that many in the GOP were going along with the Democrats with the shutdown mania. That's certainly true here in Texas, and it may well have been far, far worse in other states. This was the means towards the end to getting the fraudulent result that we got. For anybody critical of Trump to leave this out is a primary reason for SUSPICION.

They are also fond of using the Marxist paradigm of left-right-center. The truth is somewhere in-between goes the saying. But that conventional "wisdom" has a false premise. Neither the left nor the "right" nor the "center" could be right, and the ALL COULD BE WRONG.

It would be nice if people would stop lying, and embrace the truth and an honest attempt to follow the law and the Constitution. We don't need the tactics of the left and the Never-Trumpers to keep denying what should be obvious. That we are being lied to in a most aggressive and objectionable manner. Gas-lighting is no longer operable.

This is twelve years old, and Burdon looks pretty long in the tooth here. I checked on the wikipedia to find that he's still around. Didn't read far enough into the wikipedia on him to see if he still performs at that ripe old age of 80 plus.

The guitar part that opens the song is incredibly simple. If you're not so musically inclined, you may not realize HOW simple.

Just my non-professional opinion here. Good music isn't necessarily complicated. But then again, you might get an objection when you label this song as "good music". I say whatever floats your boat.

Dem Congressman Threatens To Call Cops On Citizen Journalist Rather Than Answer Questions On Hamas

10/22/23: Update of 10/20/23 post:

Do these people (Illhan Omar) really represent "We the People"?

Does the GOP actually really represent "We the People"?

Perhaps something changed and made these people the majority. However, if they really aren't the majority, then how is this a democracy? About as much as a democracy as they had in Hitlerite Germany.

end update:

10/20/23: Update of 10/17/23 post:

This is becoming a running joke... /pun off

By the way, the Democrats seem to have a problem talking to the press...

end update:

Could it be that this citizen journalist was being bullied into not asking a question of a US Representative?

The journalist asked the Democrat Representative about funding Hamas, and the Representative refused to answer while threatening to call the Capitol Police on him. The law was on the journalist's side, according to this quote:

For electronic media coverage, the House states “[v]ideotaping and audio recording are permitted in the public areas of the House and Senate office buildings.” The video was taken inside of the public area of the Canon House Building, the Daily Caller learned.

The source for the quote was from the Daily Caller. There's video of the exchange at the link.

Democrats have shown a strong tendency to avoid questions about Hamas, in addition there's this threat, and an accusation from Rep Tlaib of Michigan. Why is that? Is it "ethical" to call the cops on a journalist who has a right to be where he was, and to do what he was doing?

The question was about how US funding that somehow gets to Hamas. Why would this be a source of irritation for any member of Congress? Why would it be controversial to even ask the question? Seems like a fair question.

Are Democrats such holy creatures that they are not to approached nor questions about anything if they don't want? Who elected them our Lords and Masters?

But if you're a reasonable and decent patriotic American protesting a crooked election, then you belong in the dungeon forever more. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights be damned. That's because they dared to upset the REAL power in this country. That isn't "We the People" anymore.

Pretty salty language, don't watch if that offends you.

Basically, what I get here from this guy is the only way to change the GOP is to destroy them politically. But are they not doing that themselves? The GOP is disowning their base. For what purpose? To go the way of the Whigs? It does indeed seem to be that way.

The GOP is not giving any reason to vote for them except perhaps one. That's in order to get an empty promise of opposing the Democrats.

Short but not so sweet post

10/22/23: Update from yesterday's post:

An explanation for this glitch yesterday. The system wouldn't let me in, but the password was okay. This set off alarm bells, and I jumped to conclusions, I'm afaid. After backtracking a bit, and with a bit of anxiety, I managed to deduce that Google was making me jump through some hoops in order to determine that I was who I was supposed to be. So, I think I satisfied Google that I wasn't trying to hack myself, so I managed to get things running again. What a relief.

This was written to assure that the unnecessary drama was unnecessary and superfluous. Also too much, too. Know what I mean, Vern?

end update

Update:

2.

Gotta be Google. I have to follow a certain procedure, or it does whack-job things. Or that's the working theory. Anyway, time to carry on.

1.

Something is a bit whacky, but I signed back in okay. Must be some Google thing. For the time-being, I'll continue on as before. Am I worried about hacking? You better bereave it, kid.

Things appear to be screwed up. I'm not sure at this point, but the blog may have been hacked. If what happened is what I think, I may not be able to blog on this account again. This may be the final message from me. Until I find out otherwise, then this sign-off could log me out forever.

Lite posting

10/22/23:

Back to the blog. Today was kind of a day off. It is amazing that I forget things so fast. I still have an old laptop that I haven't used hardly at all since I bought a new one last year. The old laptop was a devil to get started up, but I managed to get it running. I forgot the password and / or pin number that gets me into my own computer. Sheesh. Fortunately, I found the old password or pin, and got the thing up and running. But that was after getting the battery recharged.

Some of hardware is on the fritz, and I wanted to use the old machine to try figuring out what the heck is wrong with those things. Still don't know. Could be something pretty dumb, like a dead battery. Everything runs on batteries, it seems.

My workspace is getting pretty cluttered, too. Yup, that kind of day.

I've scanned the news, but I'm getting a bit fed up with things again. But I'll be up and running shortly.

end update 10/19/23: Update from 10/19/21 post:

Nothing special to mention, just super busy today. Not enough time to get here and post something except this. This isn't about off-grid stuff. The off-grid stuff is on hold as of now. This is a different project.

end update:

There is no particular reason for the lite posting of late. I'm just doing what I've been doing all along. That is to say, I'm working on my off-grid stuff.

It is a long-term project in the extreme. You have to unlearn a lifetime of habits, and replace them with new ones. When this all started, I was a city slicker all my life. This project requires me to unlearn all that, and learn how to live off the land. It is a new way of being, or living.

So lately, I've been spending more time on it. Blogging is not as important now. If there is any reason for lite blogging, it is that blogging doesn't do anything to advance the goal. The goal is to live off the land, such a task requires a lot more activity. You cannot do it sitting behind a computer screen and keyboard. Know what I mean, Vern?

I'd like to report progress, but the city slicker still wins out a bit too often. I seem to like the ideas, but not the execution. Once I do try something, it often doesn't work out as I would like. But that is how you learn.

It is a long and time-consuming process. I'd like to think I'm getting better and better at it, but there isn't anything I can show for it. (drat it)

So there's no big change in the offing that wasn't happening anyway. It's not enough to think it, you got to DO it.
