Man, this stuff keeps rolling in. I may have to do a blog-a-thon to keep up with it. Via Instapundit, I found another one of these stories that begs a response. There is one, but this one has got to mention a few things that people may not have considered.

I've mentioned before that I once commented in the lefty blog known as Mahablog. But I won't link to it here because the leftism is becoming very dangerous, and I just won't even go there anymore. But that's not the point. The point is that the author accused ME of "drinking the Kool-Aid". I link this up to this Brian Stelter gambit, and think it might be one of the leftist plays in their bag of trick plays. It's gaslighting. It's calling you crazy for opposing them. The Soviet Union did stuff like that. They gave people injections for their "insanity". These injections scrambled their brains. Soviet disidents were given non-invasive lobotomies. It was like a state-sponsored "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".

As for following a cult, let's look at Kamala Harris, shall we? Did you know that her sponsor was Willie Brown, who was connected to the real Jim Jones cult? Did you KNOW THAT? Careful about throwing stones there, Stelter. Your side lives in a glass house.

The Soviet Union was likened to living in a cage. Just saying something like that would get you in trouble. Informers were everywhere in the Soviet Union. Even the slightest criticism of the regime would get you in the Gulag, or a "lobotomy". Do we really want that in America?

The article was actually a bit harder to find than what it should have been. That's rather curious because it was a really big deal at the time. It might have been 40 years ago, but that is within my lifetime, and I sure the heck remember it. It was all over the news, and now it takes extra effort to find it in a Google search. Why is that?

The Solidarity movement was given American support. Would it have succeeded otherwise? Guess who was President at that time? Actually, when Solidarity first began, it was while Jimmy Carter was still in the White House, but he was on the way out. The first non-Italian Pope was from Poland--no mere coincidence. Solidarity is given credit for ending Communism in Poland, and might well have been the linch-pin towards the end of Communism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union itself. All of it was due to the commitment towards freedom in the West.

The Carter Administration said a Soviet military invasion was imminent. If not, there was strong indications of it. However, the Soviets did not invade that time. Martial law was imposed and an effort to ban the union was attempted, but this also failed. Within a decade, the Berlin Wall fell.

The parallels today are unmistakable. Even in the few remaining Communist held territories, like Cuba, there is a resistance to the kind of totalitarianism that is rising in the once "free-world". The parallels are with respect to the kind of coerciveness that was a hallmark of Soviet-style communism. Also with the respect to the monolithic nature of intolerance to any kind of dissent whatsoever. This is eerily like the coerciveness that the left loves so much with regards to Covid restrictions and mandates. Finally, there's the prevalance of conflict and instability. If nothing else, our society is under siege from the constant unreasonable demands of the left, and its implied threats of violence and unrest if unmet.

The freedoms which we once took for granted are under increasing shrill attack. The idea of freedom is also being attacked, by none other than Don Lemon of CNN. He sneered at the word, as if it were some out-of-date notion of a time-gone-by. If those who have seized power, as the Arizona county that refused a lawful subpoena backed up by the judiciary in that state, and succeeded at least for a time, then our days as a Free Republic are numbered.

If it does succeed, the Solidarity movement in Poland will be memory-holed, and so will our history, just as the statues have been toppled. We will step-by-step be subjugated in the same kind of oppressive dicatorship that marked the old Soviet Union and Red China to this very day.

Step-by-step usurpations need to be stopped, and rolled back. A fraudulent election cannot stand, as it is just one more step towards oppression. If oppression becomes the rule, then it is over forever. There won't be any America to help out the "Poles" this time. There won't be any America for Cubans to flee to. Nobody in their right mind comes to a communist oppressed country. They go the other way. But what if there is no other way?

Overwhelming evidence that so called vaccines don't work

Highly vaccinated Iceland and Gilbraltar get Covid anyway, and could be super-spreaders too.

It's in the news on many sites, so it isn't a "conspiracy theory". The "vaccine" doesn't work. If it did, there would be no need for masks that don't work either.

It's not about public health, which is what I have been saying almost all along. This insanity just goes on and on.

But the countries mentioned do get it even though everybody got the injections.

Here is something you may not have heard elsewhere.

So-called cases are higher even though testing rate is lower. More evidence that the so-called vaccine doesn't work.

Why downplay the side-effects and hype the efficacy all the while whipping up a panic?

There was a clip on that link to a video about the vaccines. It was one in which the CNN guy named Don Lemon said that it was like the situation in which service could be denied in the same way that it is denied for not wearing shoes or a shirt. That is obviously WRONG.

The video may explain that, but it is always worth repeating, so I will do so in this post. The reason it needs repeating is that it may not sink in the first time. My own case is an example. I didn't snap to something right away, and I should have. Even though it may well have been mentioned, I didn't snap to it even then. I didn't snap to it even though I am opposed to this vaccine. That's why it BEARS REPEATING.

Why is Don Lemon wrong? There is no comparison between getting a shot that has KNOWN side effects and the simple requirements of wearing basic attire. Wearing basic attire does not cause you to get sick or even DIE. There is nothing involving a right to a objection on the basis of conscience or on the basis of SELF-PRESERVATION.

Don Lemon is trying to equate something that is entirely non-comparable, and on deeper reflection, is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE.

It is very important that people do not let this go. That would be true even if you are for the so-called vaccine and believe that it works and it is safe. You cannot deny that ALL VACCINES can have side-effects, and that people should be allowed the choice to refuse on that basis.

Did I miss something?

It seems rather quiet around here. I'm not getting the usual amount of emails. It is as if something is slowing down or stopping.

There seem to be fewer posts on blogs I read. Something going on here?

There may be something about to pop. At least, my spidey sense seems to be off the charts at the moment. Maybe it is nothing, but maybe not. These days, you cannot tell.

Plenary yes-or-no

The Constitution says that the various State Legislatures may direct the selection of electors. This has been described as a "plenary" power. What is this power? According the source above, it has two meanings 1) complete in every respect 2) fully attended or constituted by all entitled to be present.

Nowhere in the Constitution did I see anything about the executive branch of any state being empowered to deny any inquiry with respect to how the State Legislatures carry out this power. If the Legislatures have plenary power, then under what authority do these states refuse to cooperate with the Legislatures' requests for information? In Arizona, they are even defying the Legislature's subpoenas. It is not only the Legislature there, but also the Court being defied.

If the manner of the selection of the electors in a particular state do not satisfy that states' legislature, then how can it be said to have that power? Yet, if it doesn't have plenary power, then where in the Constitution does it say that it has to share power with any other branch in the government of that state? Not even the Courts have a say in it, it is directed by the legislatures of the States. The courts and executive are only granted their roles in elections; if they rebel, it is an usurpation of authority.

In other words, this is an ursurpation of power from the state legislatures to rebellious executive departments in the various states. It happened in Arizona, and now in Pennsylvania. Those departments have no legal leg to stand on. In fact, the state legislatures don't even have to go to the courts. If their power is to mean anything, then those who are defying it could be arrested and jailed.

This can only continue as long as the State Legislatures allow it to continue. It may be possible to frustrate their designs, but the State Legislatures can just override the State's bureaucracies, and award their electors to whomever they please.

This is actually a big crisis just ahead. If the Arizona and Pennsylvania legislatures decide to just swallow it all, and do nothing, it will be tantamount to a coup.

Show me where this conclusion is wrong, and show me where these recalcitrant bureaucracies have any authority to defy the Legislatures in those states.

If the state legislatures decided to decertify the elections, then what? Well, maybe nothing now, but if the legislatures aren't satisfied with the results, then they can decertify all such elections henceforth. If there is a controversy over that, it isn't according to any power that I can see delegated in the US Constitution. The State Legislatures have the power to decide. What powers the state electoral bureaucracies have came from the State Legislatures. They are like subordiates who overstep their authority. It is like a corporal assuming the role of a general.

If the Legislatures allow this, it is because they have ceded their authority. Or it has been taken away. Under what authority would that occur? None! The Legislatures cannot give it away, and nobody can take it away---at least not legally. Otherwise, it is not plenary power.

off-grid post 8-1-21

There isn't really enough to write here to make a post, because nothing much is happening.

Nothing much that is successful, that is. After the first batch of successfully germinating tomato seeds from a tomato, the next batch was a utter zilch-out. No doubt that I did something wrong, so it's off to the next attempt.

The difference was in using potting mix as opposed to using my custom-made soil. Therefore, guess what I'll be using this time? A second problem is that I experimented with a soil-watering technique that moved water okay, but not for germinating the seeds. The problem was with positioning it higher rather than lower. I used paper towels to wick the water to the egg carton where the seeds were. I also used the paper towels to wick the water to the plant that was growing. That one was lower. It got all the water, I suspect. The seeds may have been too dry.

This next attempt will incorporate a self-wicking concept going up, but also going down. One way or another, the water will get there. Also, I made a container that has enriched soil, in addition to mere potting mix, and added some epsom salt for ph balance. Once this thing gets germinated, it should get off to a good start. In addition, I will add miracle grow.

Today is August 1, so the time is moving right along. I've got a little more time left to get something started. Maybe by the end of the growing season, I will have some real success.
