Things may be getting a bit wild and wooly.Keep in mind that the polls are hardly gospel truth. You can go all the way back to the Truman-Dewey race to see that.
The one in 1980 between Carter and Reagan might be the closest pattern to this one---in my opinion. In that one, the polls had it Carter by a hair, or something like that. It was a big, big surprise that Reagan won by a landslide. The polls were way, way off.
The idea may have been to discourage people from going to the polls. This can work, but sometimes, it can backfire. In 1990, Carter screwed up and conceded too soon. That's because the polls weren't closed yet, and it may have affected down ballot races in some western states. That's Carter for you.
Like Carter, the Democrats are just a bunch of doofusses. When they lose, the excuses come running.
The real head scratcher is in Texas. To me, why would a guy like Talarico ever have a chance? But in 2008, Barak Hussein Obama won the Presidency. But he was running against McCain---who might as well have been McLame.
Paxton could've raised more money, but he didn't. Talarico did, and has spent heavily trying to get the GOP vote to flip. Maybe that works, or maybe it backfires---like with Carter. Talarico is really a doofus, and a close examination of his claims will show that. But how many will pay attention to his phony claims and vote for him?
I'm concerned, you bet. But maybe my worries will be overblown. The best thing to do is to go out and vote. Don't let the polls influence you. Study up on the races and choose wisely.
