Time for a change in the media
I left off yesterday with the thought that being somewhat offline was making it
a bit harder to post. Usually, I get my news from the internet. What did I do
before the internet? It was newspapers, radio, and television.
These media are getting harder to access, or so it seems. Sure, there are
newspapers still, and radio still, and television still, but they have increasing
problems with each, it seems. Take newspapers, for example. In Houston, there is
only one major paper now. For the longest time, there were two. At one time, there
may have been more than two, but that was before my time. I know that there may
have been three for a long time.
Television reception out here is atrocious. If you want television, you have to
pay for it. But in Houston, there were plenty of off the air television stations.
Radio out here is pretty bad too. I can't get any am stations. Just noise.
The fm stations were about music. The one news broadcast was your usual hate
Trump message.
Which brings me back to where I was before. The liberals control the message that
gets out to people. This is a red state in a red area, but the liberals control
the message that gets out to the people in this area. It may not affect the voting
patterns here, as people out here are more conservative, but the media is still
liberal. Seems like you cannot get away from it.
How do you fight this leftward drift in our culture?
People have to hear something different than what they are hearing. The message
needs to be more balanced.
There was an author who once said that the medium is the message. Maybe times have
changed that to the media IS the message. The media has to change. The media wants to
change us. We should change THEM, instead.
