Not claiming to be Cherokee here. If I was like Pocahontas, I could even claim to be African American. Somewhere in the past, a North African made his way into my genealogy. Yep, enough generations that would produce about 1% North African descent. Senegal, if memory serves. This wasn't my word, but a brother's word about the test he took. 2% Injun, 1% North African, the rest is North European.
I think I could pass as white.

In my genealogy foray, I discovered that my great great grandmother was 100% Cherokee injun.
Doggone!
That explains everything. "White man has been sneaking up on us for years." "We are civilized because we are easy to sneak up on".
