Howdy, y'all.
Still got my nose stuck in between the pages of some book or other.
By the end of the day, I will earned my PHD ( piled higher and deeper ) in bullshit that doesn't work. Then I can be truly educated.
I'm in a bit of a bad mood lately. Maybe you can tell.

Checking in: 7/8/14
As will generally be the case, since I am committed to this land purchase in West Texas, my time is going to be spent on that. There won't be as much time for writing on this here blog, but I don't intend to quit writing here. This may be a new direction for the blog, but I'm not sure yet. It kinda depends on how things go with the land.
It occurred to me that maybe I had too much time on my hands before, because this stuff really will take up your time. It may be a bit of an overgeneralization, and a bit hasty to mention this, but could it be that people who spend time reading and writing up blogs need something more constructive to do with their lives?
There's a lot of angst out there. How much of that is really necessary or helpful?
As always, I have striven to find solutions to problems. But I suspect that people are more interested in the problems and conflicts than they are interested in solving those problems. Those people may be more interested in being entertained, or being the center of attention as entertainers, than in being productive in some way. A bit of social commentary? Okay, yeah. Just a little.
As for my land, I'm still in the very early stages of evaluating it so I'll know what best to do with it. Heck, I don't even know what I've got. It may be a big turkey of a deal for all I know. I bought it nearly sight unseen based upon the notion that I could make it work regardless. That may have been rather brash and foolish, but what the hell. You've got to take your chances in this life. You don't often get perfect information in advance. Sometimes, you just have to roll up your sleeves and jump in. Maybe the water's fine, or maybe it's way too cold or even too hot. In any case, if you don't try, you'll never know.

US$ on its last legs
Message from moi:
Submitted by Adam Taggart via Peak Prosperity,
This week's podcast sees the return of Mike Maloney, monetary historian and founder of precious metals broker GoldSilver.com.
Based on historical patterns and the alarming state of our current monetary system, Mike believes the fiat US dollar is in its last years as a viable currency. He sees its replacement as inevitable in the near term -- as in by or before the end of the decade:

Mike Maloney: The Dollar As We Know It Will Be Gone Within 6 Years

Based on historical patterns and the alarming state of our current monetary system, Mike Maloney, monetary historian believes the fiat US dollar is in its last years as a viable currency. He sees its replacement as inevitable in the near term - as in by or before the end of the decade - "All of this is converging with the crazy experiments the Federal Reserve has done. During the last three monetary shifts, it was only the world's central banks and big international banks that were affected and were worried. The common man didn't even know what was going on. With this one, everybody is going to feel it. Everybody is going to know it. You will either be a winner or a loser, but everybody is playing this game."

What sets this blog apart from the others
Why is this blog different? I haven't seen any blogger, nor any commenter out there, who is actually suggesting real solutions to real problems. This includes the big names, which I won't mention. They won't mention me, maybe I should stop mentioning them, huh?
A lot of what you see out there is just plain and simple bitching. If you get off to that, this blog is not for you.

Busy day
It's already after 5 pm and the July 4th weekend is nearly over. Usually, when somebody asks me what I did over the weekend, I'll say "nothing". This time, I will say the same. That's because I don't think it would be understood.
Oh, you mean walking around the apartment complex measuring off steps to get the idea of distance from one place to the next? Or looking at the web for any and all information about desert plants? Or buying stuff I will need for my next trip out there? What kind of nut are you? I don't relish the thought of having to explain myself, so I won't. But, I'll do it here--- a little anyway. That's cuz there's some people out there who like reading what I write, if the audience numbers mean anything. The number is small, but there are some folks out there. Thanks for your support.
I've been on a tear buying up all kinds of stuff. I don't think it amounts to all that much as it is small items. But I'm likely to get sticker shock when I get my credit card bill for this month.

Leonard David's INSIDE OUTER SPACE
A lot of people weren't even born yet. I was a teenager. At the moment they stepped out, I was at my uncle's house visiting. I recall that the picture wasn't all that great. It was hard to tell much from it. It may seem hard to believe, but color TV's were still not everywhere. It may have been in black and white, but that may have been because they only took a black and white camera to the moon. Can't recall. It wouldn't be a surprise if we were watching it on a black and white TV.
We've got better TV's, we've got personal computers, and we've got electronic gadgetry. But we haven't been back to the moon and probably won't be for a long time. Maybe not ever. Is that progress?
Update:
No. It looks like this.

Let's Build a Stairway to Alberta
Clarice Feldman
Heh. What will they think up next?
Change the path of the pipeline and have it run north from Laredo to Alberta, make the pipeline bigger and with windows, put a fast train inside and welcome all the illegals at the border for a free train trip to Alberta, They’ll love it way up north. One pol there is now demanding Canada provide $20,000 per person minimum income. I think that offer might even beat the free benefits we’re offering. What could be better incentive to large scale immigration than a very generous welfare state?
Heh. What will they think up next?
