A revelation came upon me this fine morning... But it isn't an Aesop Fable. Nope. Can't back that up. But it is a Fable worth telling. An little, old snippet of wisdom that folks may want to consider.
Before I get into that, first let's say we got something of a problem right now. It will take something, which I won't name now, in order to get through it ok. Once I tell the little Fable, I'll tell ya what that "something" is.
Another part of this story relates to our addiction to convenience. That means almost everybody. Nobody seems to want to be inconvenienced in the slightest. This relates to the "something". That missing "something" is related to the addiction to the convenience.
Convenience is like a drug. It is very addictive. But it has consequences. One of those consequences is something I am dealing with RIGHT NOW. Hence the revelation.
And now for the FABLE....
There was a little birdie that just hatched. It was up in a tree. The little birdie fell out of its nest. Where it fell was into a freshly laid dump from a cow. The dung was still warm, so the little birdie didn't freeze to death. So the little birdie was safe. However, not for long. Along came a bear, and found the little birdie in the cow plop, and picked it out of the plop, and ate the little birdie.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
It's not always bad to get into the shit, and not always good to get out of it.
The origination of this FABLE is unknown. But the lesson is the revelation I had. You see, all my life, I have been addicted to the easy way. The easy way is convenient. But I am not alone. I suspect this entire civilization of the West is addicted to convenience. People want to be done with Iran. But it is not that easy to just walk away. It will take something that might hurt a little.
What does this have to do with the little birdie? It's the moral of the story. What is lacking is necessity for GUTS. The exercise of GUTS is painful. If it wasn't painful, it wouldn't need GUTS. The habit of convenience addiction makes you morally WEAK.
What does this have to do with our society? We have a problem with Iran and Russia. Also China. In order to deal with this problem, we need some GUTS. The convenient thing would be to walk out on Iran. The convenient thing would be to walk out on Ukraine. The convenient thing would be to walk out on our responsibilities.
For better or for worse, we got into the shit in Iran. It won't necessarily be good to get out of it now by just cutting and running.
Bad things happened afterwards. It happened in Vietnam. It happened in Afghanistan. It can happen again. It must not be allowed to happen. It won't take much INCONVENIENCE to put up with high gasoline prices for a little while. It won't take much INCONVENIENCE to help out the Ukrainians PROVIDED that such assistance would be helpful in OUR INTERESTS. I think a deal could be made with Ukraine to get drones for the Patriot system.
We can get out of the shit in Iran with a victory. But if we get out of Iran with a bad result, we are going to be in a world of shit eventually because of it.
As for me personally, I have to be inconvenienced for awhile dealing with something that has developed with my health. If I won't be inconvenienced in slightest in order to deal with this, I will probably die soon. If I suck it up, I can probably live a little while longer. Hence the revelation that brought this post to life.
Let those with a brain take heed.
