LPPFusion Report March 4, 2021 Summary: Wefunder Capital Campaign Starts Assembling and Testing New Switches Wefunder Capital Campaign Starts LPPFusion has initiated a third crowdfunding capital campaign through the Wefunder website. Our public start is 6:00 PM EST, today, Thursday, March 4. As in previous campaigns, this offering is open to all investors. But in contrast to earlier campaigns, there are no limits on the number of investors who may buy our shares. Since we don't have to worry about such limits, LPPFusion has reduced the minimum investment to just one share at a price of $150. We expect that this reduction, from the previous minimum of $1000, will make it possible for far more people to invest in a fusion future.   In the new campaign, Wefunder is setting up a custodial entity which will hold the legal title to the shares as a single shareholder, while the new investors will be the "beneficial" shareholders who get the financial benefits. This is the same as having a broker or fund buying shares on your behalf—they are the legal holders but not the beneficial owners.   To explain our project, LPPFusion Director of Communication Ivy Karamitsos has prepared new versions of our videos, which are viewable on the Wefunder website.   We ask all our readers to visit the Wefunder site and consider investing. The minimum investment is less than we all saved by not being able to eat out for two or three nights. We have set $200,000 as our minimum goal which we hope to reach swiftly. Our maximum, set by current SEC regulation is $1 million, but after March 15 that cap will be lifted. The campaign is currently expected to run through the coming year, with LPPFusion able to periodically draw on the money invested to fund our research. Research Scientist Syed Hassan has begun the task of assembling and testing the 24 switches. The first step, soldering together the base plates and bolts that will attach the switches to the capacitors, is complete. Further steps will include testing the switches for gas leaks and preparing the Mylar shields that prevent flashover (shorting of the switches along their outside surfaces). More work needs to be done on the plates that will attach the switches to the rest of the machine and on the additional cables from the main trigger device to the switches.   In the initial configuration we will be experimenting with, we will still be using only eight of the device's 12 capacitors, which means we will be running with 16 switches. This will enable us to test the change in the switches with the same total energy supply. Later in the year, we will be changing over to full power with 12 capacitors and 24 switches.   After many delays, some Covid-related, we have received a firm date for delivery of our new anode stalk—April 12. While it is not as soon as we had hoped, we expect to have everything ready to run by that time, allowing our new experiments to start by around May 1. We will be testing to see if our major upgrades lead to a large increase in fusion yield. Steely Dan--- Do It Again

Did you ever do something that evoked a memory of a song? That happened today, and it was this song that popped into my head.

I've heard it many a time on the radio, but why this song? Actually, I didn't know the lyrics that well, so I went online and saw an analysis of it which made sense.

The song is about the compulsion to do things. You cannot help yourself regarding something, and so you go "Back Jack, and Do It Again." It may not be like kicking the Coke machine, but it ain't rational. We don't live in a rational world, after all.

Kicking the Coke Machine

 

An interesting idea on Bongino's show today. He said that the Democrats were engaging in counter-productive behavior all in a reaction to Trump. He compares it to what happens when you put your money in a Coke machine, and the thing doesn't give you a Coke.

What happens after that is generally automatic, Bongino says. People will yell at the machine, or they will tip it over, or kick it. All of that in response to something that cannot respond back. It is counter-productive, Bongino explains.

So the Democrats are doing things that hurt their brand. Bongino connects it together with their frustrations with Trump. All previous GOP types just caved in when Democrats accused them of something. But Trump fought back. The Democrats are used to getting their way with GOP types, so when Trump didn't respond like their accustomed to, Dems acted like they didn't get their Coke.

It's all counter-productive for them, but they cannot "help themselves", or so goes the theory. Maybe there's something to that, but if you notice, they are not the only ones kicking the Coke machine.

Starting a third party isn't very productive, but it sure would feel good to kick that Coke machine. Maybe it is time to recognize that kicking the Coke machine won't get you your Coke. But I want one anyway, dammit.

SN-10, Spacex's latest test article for a re-usable spacecraft, made a perfect landing just a few minutes ago in Boca Chica Texas.

It was the second launch attempt today, as the first attempt aborted immediately upon starting of the main engines. The rapid turnaround was achieved in but a few hours, as Elon Musk said that the thrust tolerances were too strict, and so nothing was really wrong enough to scrub for the day.

The rocket rose slowly after launch and proceeded gradually towards its destination altitude, then began its descent downward towards the landing pad. The rocket fired up all three engines, as opposed to just two in previous attempts to land. Nothing appeared to go wrong at all. The rocket shut down one engine at a time until it made the soft landing.

A small fire appeared shortly after landing, but it appeared to be nothing serious. All in all, a perfect test for the new Spacecraft, which is being developed and tested at an unheard-of pace.

Musk hopes for a Mars landing as early as 2024. He has yet to get his new rocket to orbit, and the booster has yet to fly. But this test brings him one step closer to his goal of putting humans on another world to stay.

Oops!  It blew up later.  But the landing was good, but maybe not quite good enough.
