So there was a post on Instapundit in which this latest hubbub about "white supremacy" was not condemned by Trump. Aside from whether or not he did or didn't, just exactly what did any white supremacist group do lately that can be condemned?
There's the rub. There isn't any, unless you count what hasn't be adjudicated yet. In fact, it is premature to condemn people who are presumed innocent until proven guilty. I am not aware of any guilty verdicts being handed down lately regarding any "white supremacist" groups. Not even any "white supremacist" individuals, as of yet.
But then the thought came that there hasn't been any convictions of Antifa groups or BLM violence as of yet either, but there are plenty of accusations. One thing is certain, of all the unrest lately, the fairy godmother didn't do it. SOMEBODY did. Nobody has seriously accused any "white supremacists" of that. At least not yet, although there seems to have been something that sounded like the devil made them do it, meaning Trump.
Anyway, the piece on Instapundit said that the left actually believes that only so-called white supremacists voted for Trump. If they get Trump to condemn the "white supremacists" then they will drive a wedge between Trump and his supporters. Wow. Now that really sounds pretty nutty to me. It might sound perfectly reasonable to your typical reporter.
But then it might sound pretty nutty on the other side that Trump was trying to drive a wedge between the Democrat groups. Maybe he was. I'm not so sure that that will work, if that is what he was attempting. He did say that in the debate that Biden lost the left. Well, maybe. I'm not so sure.
That's because if they can believe that the only reason somebody would vote for Trump is because they're a racist, then why would they vote for Trump? Maybe they stay home if they don't feel enthused for Biden. But then the idea is to gin up a lot of hatred for Trump because of his alleged sympathies for "white supremacy". Gotta get that boogey-man.
In other words, you have to believe that our number one trouble today is racism. Not the cities burning down. There may be people who think that way. At least those in the so-called profession known formerly as journalism. Chris Wallace seems to think so. And some others or so I've read.
They seem to be searching for that boogey-man. For them, Trump is it, and vice versa.
But SOMEBODY is burning down the cities. Where is that boogey-man? Maybe the fairy godmother did burn down the cities. Maybe it was just somebody's idea like Biden said.
