Sauce for the goose

Thoughts are fleeting things.  I wanted to write something for hours now, but now that I have gotten out of bed, and in front of the screen, I am at a loss as to what to write.  It happens all the time.

There are plenty of things to write about.  There's the impeachment, for example.

Yet, I have written about it.  What else is there to mention?

I could continue with the line of thought I began yesterday.  One has to wonder why the GOP would entertain this obvious unjust enterprise.  It is obviously unjust, make no mistake.  If it wasn't obvious, then why do the Democrats need the GOP to help them with their case?  It is frustrating to see that there are so many on the GOP side who seem willing to do just that.

The GOP has its divisions.  But so do the Democrats.  But the Democrats are united in their opposition to this President.   Why isn't it the same for the GOP?  Why can't the GOP unite against the Democrats?  Why do some in the GOP seem to think that they have to get the approval of a party that opposes them?  It makes no sense.

The Democrats oppose just for the sake of opposition.  If they are going to do that, then why should the GOP help them?

The Democrats are depending upon the GOP to allow their witnesses that they didn't subpoena during the inquiry.  They didn't want to wait on the courts to adjudicate it.  If the courts found against them, then their case disappears.  Why should the GOP help them with their witnesses?  They are doing this because there are some in the GOP who want to help.  Why not take advantage if it is available?  But the point is that this isn't about getting an advantage, it is about the law.  At least that is what the Democrats claim.  It doesn't do justice to allow them to bend the law into their favor when all that they seek is their own advantage.  The courts can decide this.  But the Democrats didn't want to wait.

It is a partisan impeachment.  The GOP is well within its rights to offer a partisan defense.  If the GOP were united on this issue, the Democrats wouldn't have impeached the President.  It wouldn't have gotten them any advantage.  Now they believe that this impeachment will help them with the election.  There are some on record who have said that very thing.  It is not about the law, it is about politics.  Why not be partisan in the defense of your own party?  What is so wrong about that?
