Just another circus?

The big story now is the impeachment circus.

One story that caught my attention was Ted Cruz's idea of a tit-for-tat witness approval scheme.  Not such a good idea.  This isn't a game, or shouldn't be.

What it should be is a quest for the truth of the charges.  If the Democrats wanted the truth, they'd be open to ALL defense witnesses.  The bias in a "fair trial" is towards the defense, not the prosecution.  The charges have to be proven.  Innocence doesn't have to be proven.  The Democrats want to stand that tradition on its head.

It is incumbent upon the prosecution to prove its case.  Should new evidence be allowed after the "indictment"?  That appears to be what the Dems are attempting now.  This should not be allowed.  If it were allowed, then it becomes a game to stretch out the proceedings for as long as possible.

Frivolous witnesses should not be allowed.  The charges are about Biden and the claimed coercion of the Ukrainians.   Yet, even if Trump was found to be guilty of that, what crime was committed?  As Cocaine Mitch as already stated, the House has already had its chance.

The Senate shouldn't even be considering witnesses at all.  The crime isn't specified and should be dismissed.  However, the usual suspects in the GOP want a trial.  Pierre Delecto wants Bolton, but Bolton was not questioned in the House.  No Bolton nor any new witnesses for the Dems.

It will devolve into a circus.  The game is on to see who "wins".  Cocaine Mitch is in danger of losing control over the trial.  If the Dems get their way, then we all get to root for our team.
