But it is a good point. Why trust scientists? Trust has to be earned. However, with the political zeitgeist of the times, the gold standard of merit is going out the window. Scientists have become a sort of priesthood elevated by the all-powerful state for the purposes of supporting the all-powerful state. It isn't about science anymore. It is about self-aggrandizement through the use of state-sponsored power-seeking. It's a club, and you're not in it.

Indeed, why trust scientists? What have they done to merit anyone's trust?
